The Apostle in Triumph-1 Quite possibly the best Opeth song ever made. I have never seen it on here and figured I would take matters into my own hands and slap one together, and I do mean "slapped together". Audio has some skips...time for new cd I guess. Pics I just rounded up whatever i could search up as fast as I could search them up. Added one non Opeth pic purely for my own enjoyment and amusement. Obviously I had to slap this together in two parts thanks to the 10 minute rule. Part 2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUr5fOciH4Q Lyrics: In solitude I wander Through the vast enchanted forest The surrounding skies are one Torn apart by the phenomenon of lightning Rain is pouring down my (now) shivering shoulders In the rain my tears are forever lost The darkened oaks are my only shelter Red leaves are blown by the wind An ebony raven now catches my eyes Sitting in calmness Before spreading its black wings Reaching for the skies In this forest Where wolves cry their agony unto the moon My spirit is hidden In the form of wisdom Carved on a black stone The only ways to follow Open your soul Redeem, I am immortal Blinded by a light My soul is held up high in glory I engulf the skies The apostle in triumph Through the eternal flame I travel As the rain keeps falling... Judas Iscariot the Apostle - Montage A glimpse at Judas' critical hour. Please do comment, and feel free to express yourself. ------------------------- Oscar Wilde once described a cynic as one who knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Herein lies the reason perhaps for Judas' eventual corruption and downfall. He failed to 'see' with his eyes, the greatness which lay before him. He was more concerned about what authorities thought and the movement countering the Romans, rather than Who it was who called him and loved him unto the end. During this clip you'll hear Jesus say that, 'Many Kings and prophets have desired to see what you see, and hear what you hear.. and have not.' This is what Judas passed up. This is what we pass up when we turn our backs on he who has given us all. In truth, at some point or another, we have all betrayed the Lord.. all have 'lost faith' and gone astray. Jesus prayed for Peter, so that after his fall he would rise, and be the help his brother apostles would need in the hard times ahead. Jesus is counting on US as well to not despair, but to rise up in faith and holiness before the Father, so as to be witnesses to others of his precious and liberating love. ------------------------------------- "Judas? The Apostle who betrayed his Divine Master. The name Judas (Ioudas) is the Greek form of Judah (Hebrew "praised"), a proper name frequently found both in the Old and the New Testament. Even among the Twelve there were two that bore the name, and for this reason it is usually associated with the surname Iscariot [Hebrew "a man of Kerioth" or Carioth, which is a city of Judah (cf. Joshua 15:25)]. There can be no doubt that this is the right interpretation of the name, though the true origin is obscured in the Greek spelling, and, as might be expected, other derivations have been suggested (e.g. from Issachar). Very little is told us in the Sacred Text concerning the history of Judas Iscariot beyond the bare facts of his call to the Apostolate, his treachery, and his death. His birthplace, as we have seen, is indicated in his name Iscariot, and it may be remarked that his origin separates him from the other Apostles, who were all Galileans. For Kerioth is a city of Judah. It has been suggested that this fact may have had some influence on his career by causing want of sympathy with his brethren in the Apostolate. We are told nothing concerning the circumstances of his call or his share in the ministry and miracles of the Apostles. And it is significant that he is never mentioned without some reference to his great betrayal. Thus, in the list of the Apostles given in the Synoptic Gospels, we read: "and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him". (Matthew 10:4. Cf. Mark 3:19; Luke 6:16). So again in St. John's Gospel the name first occurs in connection with the foretelling of the betrayal: "Jesus answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve; and one of you is a devil? Now he meant Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon: for this same was about to betray him whereas he was one of the twelve" (John 6:71-2). In a very true sense, all sin is a mystery. And the difficulty is greater with the greatness of the guilt, with the smallness of the motive for doing wrong, and with the measure of the knowledge and graces vouchsafed to the offender. In every way the treachery of Judas would seem to be the most mysterious and unintelligible of sins. For how could one chosen as a disciple, and enjoying the grace of the Apostolate and the privilege of intimate friendship with the Divine Master, be tempted to such gross ingratitude for such a paltry price? And the difficulty is greater when it is remembered that the Master thus basely betrayed was not hard and stern, but a Lord of loving kindness and compassion. Looked at in any light the crime is so incredible, both in itself and in all its circumstances, that it is no wonder that many attempts have been made to give some more intelligible explanation of its origin and motives, and, from the wild dreams of ancient heretics to the bold speculations of modern critics, the problem presented by Judas and his treachery has been the subject of strange and startling theories. As a traitor naturally excites a peculiarly violent hatred, especially among those devoted to the cause or person betrayed, it was only natural that Christians should regard Judas with loathing, and, if it were possible, paint him blacker than he was by allowing him no good qualities at all. This would be an extreme view which, in some respects, lessens the difficulty. For if it be supposed that he never really believed, if he was a false disciple from the first, or, as the Apocryphal Arabic Gospel of the Infancy has it, was possessed by Satan even in his childhood, he would not have felt the holy influence of Christ or enjoyed the light and spiritual gifts of the Apostolate." Apostle Of Solitude - Electric Funeral (Black Sabbath C Doom may be the cruellest of all metals many genres. You see, if you're, for instance, a thrash band, it's relatively easy to be a mediocre band. You string together some old Exodus and Slayer riffs, pull funny faces and get signed by Earache. You want to be a death metal band? Simply play Morbid Angel riffs at slightly different speeds, chuck a horror film sample or two into the mix and play three festivals a summer. Doom though? Hell, if you want to be mentioned with the big guys, you've just got to be good. You have to feel it, in your bones. You can't fake it. You might be able to cock an ironic grin with thrash, or put the make up on with Black Metal, but you can't feign misery convincingly. You can't fake adoration of the sacred riff; if you try, everyone will see through your facade. Doom is pure heavy metal, unfiltered by trend or fashion. Apostle of Solitude don't fake anything. This is 100% proof, intoxicating heavy metal that makes heads nod and horns rise. From Indianapolis, USA, this four piece have come to play metal in the old style, in the fashion of the old classics of the genre. I like my doom like I like my women; slow, miserable and classy. At the altar of this epic, powerful metal, the riff is king and atmosphere is the crown prince. Sincerest Misery is the debut album of this outfit, and it's really a breathtaking entry that catapults them to the top of their game, and I would place them alongside fellow Americans The Gates of Slumber, though this is a much doomier and darker album than their compatriots last release. I was frequently reminded of the atmosphere (and heavy riffing) of the much-loved dormant British seminal outfit, Solstice in sound. From the sprawling, epic nature of the tracks (eight minute track "Confess" is a case in point), down to the clear, soulful singing of Chuck Brown, this screams "genre classic" into your ear. From close range. Without warning. Somewhere along the line, extreme metal lost the plot, and in disposing of anything related to good, classic heavy metal, it threw the baby out with the bath water. "Sincerest Misery" traces an unbroken route from Black Sabbath, through classic Judas Priest and then out via earliest Iron Maiden, while all the while retaining that slow tempo, unhurried devotion to misery and solitude. The drums are in the best traditions of classic doom; played simply but effectively, while the bass work is adept and much higher in the mix than many other modern albums. The production gives the bass a wonderful warm, analogue feel, while the guitars have more crunch than a late night teleshopping channel abdominal exerciser. The lead work, when it occurs, is ornate and neo-classical in feel, rather than relying on the tired tradition of simple blues scales, which helps reinforce the huge, epic sound of the music here. Chuck Brown has a great voice, carrying the melody and drama of these leviathan tracks. Heavier than a sledgehammer blow to the back of the cranium (witness the merciless bludgeoning four minutes into the unbelievably heavy "Last Tears" as evidence), this is a serious, jaw-dropping release. File under "essential". [www.northern-silence.de/eye.htm] DOOOOOOOOOM!!!!! Tags: Apostle Of Solitude 09 Electric Funeral (Black Sabbath Cover) doom metal stoner rock |
