St Trinian's World Premiere London: 10 December 2007 Flash Alert! A world premiere tonight so big turn out for this very British comedy premiere's Pink-Carpet. One fan whose 18th birthday now decide that a kiss from Russell Brand would be the perfect gift, and she got it. She waited on the fanline all day and Russell obliged. He even signed one fan's mouth. Colin Firth was really nice with fans as usual, as was Rupert Everett. My fan-line-mates this time had a project about asking female celebs and stars on their view on size zero and that added some interest to the normal screaming. Girls Aloud spent their time with the paps and press so the fans were denied. To plenty of good natured screaming, a guy in a silver lamee jockstrap who leapt the barrier to proposition Russell Brand, was led away by security. Square Premieres Presents: Iron Man - UK Premiere Bronwen and Catherine are our gorgeous guides tonight. Bronwen is an aficionada of Marvel comics and it shows in her interview with Director John Favreau. Catherine is curious about super powers and finds out from all what they'd like to have. The show starts earlier in the day with Russell finding out about the Iron man simulator placed in the Square free for fans to enjoy all day. He meets some of our young English roses before and after the ride, then deftly switches to camera duty once the red carpet is down to capture our interviews. Intro (1m34s), Bronwen's vox pops (2m13s), Bendan Cole (2m51s), guest presenter Jeremy Jacobs grabs a few words with Frank Skinner on his favourite footie team's impending return to the Premiership (3m02s), pub landlord Al Murray tells us what fruit he'd like to be (3m31s), ex Dr. Who Peter Davison (3m56s), impersonator John Culshaw muses over Iron Man's vocal qualities (4m45s), , stunning Nazanin Boniadi (4m57s) speaks about her role and juggling General Hospital with film work, Terence Howard works the crowd (6m12s), Director John Favreau tells us about the Marvellous experience (6m19s), then there's Gwyneth with the crowds (7m16s), likewise Robert Downey Jr. who talks about the possibility of a new album (7m36s) and finally the outro (8m12s). A good evening out by the look of it. Well done crew. Russell's review of the premiere: A simulator action ride, a life size statue, a Jumbotron plasma screen, and the film's name writ in 15foot letters across the cinema wall. Paramount made sure that the Ironman premiere didn't have to work too hard to build its own hype, perhaps in recognition of the fact that their less well known superheroes can't count on the same levels of frenzied excitement that greet their more widely familiar and adored creations. Sadly unlike the star drenched delights of the big franchise premieres like Spiderman, Harry Potter or Bond this lack of fan fervour was reflected in a modest celeb count. Simon Pegg was probably the best talent on show, although he's hardly an unfamiliar face to frequent red carpet voyeurs. Beyond that the likes of Al Murray, Frank Skinner and former Dr Who Peter Davison kept the crowd busy while they waited for the big stars to come their way. Robert Downey Jr. Terence Howard and director John Favreau signed for large sections of the crowd, even at the expense of the press. However the nicest surprise for fans was that even Gwyneth Paltrow, predicted by many to be comparatively fan-shy signed far more than anyone had expected. Good mood or good PR, who's to say. A lot of people got a full set of signatures and even more than one from some of the big stars, which is pretty good going for a big premiere at the main Odeon. Gravel voiced Jason Statham was a big hit in the Square tonight at this world premiere of the movie that tells a tale of an unsolved bank robbery not far from where we stood tonight. Many of the Brit-Cast joined him on the red carpet and many took time to give autographs and pose with fans as well as taking care of media duties. Really popular with the fans was Sir Anthony Hopkins, there to support his buddy, director Roger Donaldson.
