Paolo Marshall JCM 800 2203 mods This is a work in progress demo of the mods on my JCM 800. So far I've fitted it out with KT77s and done numerous gain and tone mods. It's recorded using a digital camera and is heavily attenuated by a Hot Plate @ -16dB to avoid having the cops come around for a visit!! Still working idea's for the additonal hole that was drilled by the previous owner, thinking of a PPIMV or resonance control. Any comments, suggestions and/or critisisms are welcome. Messing around on Marshall JMP 2203 and Flying V Just messing around with the 2203 on full gain, just using the guitar volume and pickup selector to change the sound. I click in the Marshall guvnor at the end for Metal Melitia :) settings were pres:0, bass:10, mid 7, treb:5 I changed it for Metal Melita, pres:0,bass:8, mid:4, treb:8 Oh and by the way, yes I know I made a LOT of mistakes and the video editing is poor - my camera only takes 2min clips. There is a mid selector switch under the input jack, a depth mod on the back, an effects loop, a compression mod in the master volume pot, and a gain level switch in the gain pot. 1978 Marshall JMP 2203 through a 1978 1960A cab with G12M25 75Hz Blackbacks Here's a clip of the '78 half stack. Both pre and power are at 12:00, as is most everything else except presence which I had dialed up a bit. It's capable of considerably more gain, for this clip I was really after that nice AC/DC-esque Marshall crunch. A quick bit of background. All of my amps are currently in storage. I pulled 5 of my favorites out and played the same riff through each, to try to show the differences in sound between the different amp and cab combinations. All are Marshalls - there's this one (a 1978 JMP 2203 through a '78 1960A with G12M25 75hz blackbacks), a 1959SLP through a 1966 1960A loaded with Celestion Heritage G12H30s, a modified 1980 JMP 2203 through a 1960B with G12H30 55hz blackbacks, a 6100 through a 6960A, and a 1974X. All were straight in, no pedals or effects etc. The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul. I had to rush this time, I only had the afternoon to unpack everything, record, and pack up again so there wasn't much time for messing about, so it's kind of 'warts and all'... sorry about that. Mic placement is a bit crap sometimes, playing is kinda sloppy (it's hot and I had just unpacked all this kit!) When I get time I'll do some neater versions.
