MLB 2K8 Yankees vs Mets MLB 2K8 Yankees vs Mets Any sports videogame fanatic knows that the right analog stick has been infiltrating the likes of Madden, NHL, Fight Night and even EA's skate to create a more immersive gaming experience. Now MLB 2K8 is following suit with a revamped gameplay system that employs the right analog stick for just about every action in the sport of baseball. You throw to bases with it, you bat with it, you slide with it, and you even pitch by making a sequence of motions with the right analog stick. Tossing to the bases used to be as simple as holding a face button and releasing it at a proper point. While the process is still a hold and release affair, it's much more geared to the accuracy of the throw. You can now release the ball too early and send it over your teammate's head or you can hold it too late and short-hop the base. Not only do you have to worry about releasing the right analog stick just so, but you also need to be mindful of the direction that you're pointing. MLB 2K8 places a lot of importance on nailing the cardinal direction and if you don't, that's when you'll see some errant throws. If you're semi-close to being dead-on then the person covering the base will be able to make adjustments, just be sure not to pull them off the bag by too much. While the throwing mechanic is new, it still harkens back to the old method of holding a button and timing your release. The pitching mechanic is completely new and different from anything that baseball has seen prior. It's a three-step process. After deciding which pitch you're going to throw (the catcher will always call a sign but you don't have to follow his advice) it's time to start your motion. The first right analog movement starts the expanding circle that fans of 2K7 will recognize. The longer you hold the stick in that position, the harder it will be to hit your spot with the pitch. Cut it short and your pitch won't have much on it (either movement or speed, depending on what you're throwing). The second motion is where things can get tricky. A fastball is obviously a straight back, then straight forward motion, but when throwing curveballs and sliders you get into half and three-quarter circle motions that need to be timed just right. The third part of the pitching process is the release. After the aforementioned circle expands to its desired circumference and you've made the second motion you'll need to time the release of the right stick with the circle which will be contracting back down to the center. Stop it when it's small and you'll have made the perfect pitch, but stop it too late or too early and you'll throw up a fat meatball. There's no question that the new right analog movements with both throwing and pitching take some getting used to, but if you can power through the early stages you'll find that the new mechanic works pretty well. There are moments of inaccuracy but hopefully those will be cleaned up by the time the game ships on March 3. READ DESCRIPTION My first simulation video in a while and what a way to kick off ... the brand new Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 ! This match is for the World HeavyWeight Championship and John Cena gets a Title match against Chris Jericho. Let's call it a welcome home present lol. Sorry about the bad quality and pixels. Anyways here is a little recap of the storyline so far and all you need to know about this match: Both World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and his challenger John Cena enter Survivor Series having overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. One man comes in fresh off some of the toughest matches of his career, having defeated two of the most intimidating competitors WWE has to offer, Shawn Micheals and Batista. The other man returns after three months of arduous rehabilitation from a neck injury that would have propelled lesser athletes into retirement. While each competitor has proven himself an extraordinary survivor, only one will depart Bostons TD Banknorth Garden as World Heavyweight Champion. This battle of resolve was arranged by Shane McMahon during the celebration of Raws 800th episode, ensuring that John Cena would contend for the title. It was unclear at the time, however, who Cenas opponent would be. World Heavyweight Champion Jericho had actually recaptured the gold at the end of the celebratory evening from The Animal, who he had lost the gold to just eight days earlier at Cyber Sunday. The waters between Jericho and Cena run deep and turbulent. Nowhere moreso, perhaps, than the stretch winding through August 2005. It was then that Cena defeated Jericho in a Youre Fired Match, a match that ended the career of the current World Heavyweight Champion, until his return in November 2007. His banishment from WWE remains a moment that Jericho will likely never forget. When these two clash at Survivor Series, it will be a collision of steel wills. This video took such a long time to complete due to my overwhelming work schedule as of late.... With the release of Smash Bros. College Hoops 2K8 IGN Review Rated 8.2 All across the country, in gyms and arenas, schools are prepping their basketball teams with secret weapons to be unleashed against rival squads. It's not a new offensive or defensive set that will confuse and hamper the plans of opposing coaches. It's not paying off referees in a Donaghy-like scandal to make calls for one particular team. Nor is it sending cheerleaders in front of the visiting bench to distract players. The secret weapon is the fans in the stands and the energy boost given to the home team, and it's one of the new adjustments made to College Hoops 2K8, the latest installment from 2K Sports. While the game features a large number of new features that really bolster the feel of the college experience, play on the court is still plagued by some old issues that really detract from the impressive job made by Visual Concepts. Last year, College Hoops 2K7 focused on the atmosphere surrounding a college game, which included the student sections screaming, fans jumping in their seats and tons of school chants. Of course, every basketball fan knows that this atmosphere can be enough to completely disrupt the concentration of opponents, forcing poor shots and lapses in judgment that can benefit the home team. The crowd can also buoy their squad, making them play much harder as they feed off the energy of the stands. This is the 6th Man Advantage, and College Hoops 2K8 tries to recreate this in the midst of games in a dynamic way. As the home team makes plays, getting baskets and performing defensive stops or forcing turnovers, a meter along the bottom of the screen fills up with the crowd's excitement at the game. If you keep this performance up, you can turn the bar red for a couple of seconds, which equates to a momentum boost for your players (which can be seen underneath the players as a marker of their confidence on the court). This boost makes shots easier to go in for your team, and can be extended with additional shots or strong defense. This can be just enough to give your players a way to extend a lead or make a roaring comeback when it really counts.
