If You See My Saviour - Gospel - Thomas Dorsey To blues lovers Thomas Dorsey is better known as "Geaorgia Tom" who with his partner, Tampa Red, recorded many Hokum songs (mostly smutty) in the 20-30ties. During the depression Dorsey decided to to pursue a career as sacred composer. He is credited with creating the gospel idiom himself, perhaps because he coined the very word as a description of sacred music. One of his most known songs is "Take My Hand Precious Lord". The song I perform here is said to be his first sacred composition. It's in the key of C and based on a rendition by Ari Eisinger (get his records if you like this style). I play it with a little more swing than Dorsey or Eisinger. Why...because I like it like that.
