It is being played on my 1970 Audiotronics A-300, and its brand new needle/cartridge. This album features 4 of the same 5 people that are still in the band today. Only drummer John Hinch is no longer in the band. Also interesting is that Glenn Tipton is spelled with one 'n' in his first name, and Rob Halford is listed as 'Bob' Halford. The Harry Simeone Chorale - The Little Drummer boy 33RPM 1980 MCA Records # MCA15006 (a Re-issue of MCA540) 33 RPM LP of Harry Simeone Chorale, Song 1 SIde 1, The Little Drummer Boy. Again, a record my parents had when I was a kid. This is the original version of this holiday classic. I remembered the album cover from my childhood, but not the artist, and didnt know how to go about finding it as an adult. What a surprise to find it at an antique mall for $1.00.\ More info via wikipedia: "The Little Drummer Boy" is a popular Christmas song, with words and music by Katherine K. Davis. Henry Onorati and Harry Simeone have been credited with writing the song, even though they were only the arrangers for their recordings of it. The best-known and most standard version is by the Harry Simeone Chorale. It is also known as the "Carol of the Drum". Davis first composed the words and music for "Carol of the Drum" (ostensibly transcribed from a traditional Czech carol) in 1941. [1] In 1957 Onorati arranged the song for a recording by the Jack Halloran Singers on Dot Records. The following year Simeone re-arranged the song yet again and retitled it for his Chorale's hit single version, which was issued on 20th Fox Records' 45-121 with a 45rpm picture sleeve, then on their LP called Sing We Now of Christmas, which became an enormous bestseller. In 1963 the company, now known as 20th Century Fox Records, retitled and reissued their album. It was now called The Little Drummer Boy: A Christmas Festival, in order to boost sales even higher, as the 45-rpm single had continued to be a seasonal hit. Dinah Shore - Silent Night / Coventry Song - 1960 - (33RPM) I found this little gem in a 10 for $1.00 bin. It has no jacket, although I have found pictures online, which you can see here: http://www.jumpingfrog.com/images/epm06oct24/epm8005a.jpg Mine is just the record, very scratchy and tired, on Capitol records and says "Seaons Greetings" and has the Chevrolet logo and bowtie underneath it. From what I can tell, this was a 1960 Chevrolet Promo record titled 'Seasons Best' featuring Dinah Shore, distributed to people who took a Chevy Test drive. Its a 7" EP recorded at 33 1/3 RPM. It contains 4 songs, of which I have recorded two songs at a time (one full side) for youtube purposes. This one features 'Silent Night' and 'The Coventry Song', being played on a 1956 Philco.
