Branch of the Altaic family: Dolgan and Yakuts; Turkic Evens and Evenks; Tungusic Note: Due to the rarest of Dolgan photos I used photos of Yakut (Sakha) and Tungusic reindeer herders. The Dolgan are mostly reindeer herders and the costumes you see in this video look similar to Dolgan costume. The 2002 Census counted 7,261 Dolgans. This number includes 5,517 in former Taymyr Autonomous Okrug. There are 26 Dolgans in Ukraine, four of whom speak Dolgani (2001 Ukrainian Census). Linguists believe that the Dolgans speak a dialect of the Yakut language, called Dolgan. Dolgan identity emerged in the 19th early 20th century, when some of the Evenks, Yakuts, Enets, and the so-called Tundra peasants migrated to the region away from the Lena River and Olenyok River. Originally, the Dolgans were nomadic reindeer breeders and hunters. They were eventually forced to settle and form kolkhozes during the Soviet times, engaging in reindeer breeding, hunting, fishing, dairy farming as well as market gardening). Bolot feat Top FX- Mounds (Version 2) Bolot is a singer and narrator from mountainous Altai, the master of the ancient Altaic gluttural singing kay. 'Kay' is a special type of the overtone singing spread among nomadic folks of Central Asia (Mongols, Altaic people, Tuvinians, Khakhases, etc.). The singer seems to sing with several voices at one time. Besides he can masterly play the komus (it is an Altaic Jew's harp), the shoor (flute without a mouthpiece) placed on the topshur. The core of the singer's inspiration are the sagas and legends of the peoplesof mountainous Altai. The Oghuz is also called the Southwestern branch because most Oghuz peoples (Turkmen, Iraqi Turkmen....) live west of the Altai Mountains. Most Turkish people live in Turkey but others live in Western Europe like Germany and America. Many Turks came to Turkey during the Seljek and the Ottoman empire. The Oghuz languages have three main groups Western group, including Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Gagauz, Balkan Gagauz Turkish, and the language of the Meskhetian Turks, Azerbaijani, including the northern and southern varieties of Azerbaijani, the languages of the Iraqi Turkmen of Iran and Iraq, Qashqa'i, and Afshar Eastern or Turkmen group including Turkmen, Khorasani Turkish, and the Oghuz dialect of Uzbek Southern group including dialects of Iran (Kashkay, Sonqori, Aynallu etc.) and Afghanistan (Afshar).
