Message from Mars-Bert Ambrose 1937 Decca 1757 Another hot roaring number from the thirties -woo noo? This is an English band with a drive-offered from CD144 at http://mcproductions.shawbiz.ca This composed by Sid Phillips. From 1933 thru 1937, he was a prominent member (saxophone) of the popular Ambrose Orchestra. Some of his more memorable arrangements for Ambrose included "Caravan", "Deep Henderson", and the Ambrose Orchestra theme "Hors D'oeuvres" (music by David Comer), which Sid later adopted as the 'Out-Theme' for his own orchestra. (The 'In-Theme' was his own composition Clarinet Cadenza.) All this while, many of his own compositions were becoming quite well known, including "Night Ride", "Streamline Strut", "Hullabaloo", "An Amazon Goes A-Wooin", "B'Wanga", "Message From Mars", "Early Morning Blues", "Mister Reynard's Nightmare", "Night Ride", "Plain Jane", and "Cotton Pickers' Congregation". Swinging London: Ambrose & His Orch. - Too Many Tears, 1932 Bert AMBROSE (1897-1971), the bandleader & violinist, in 1927 he was elected musical director of the exclusive Mayfair Hotel at a then record annual fee of £10,000 and whose outfit was by the early 1930s regarded as crème de la crème among British bands. He paid the best money and got the finest players, many of whom went on to become bandleaders themselves. It might be interesting to ponder just how many of the rich and famous clients who danced to Ambrose's sophisticated arrangements were aware that their favourite was the son of an East End rag-and-bone man. Ambrose & His Orchestra - Happy Days Are Here Again I couldn't resist uploading two more versions of one of my favorite tunes. The first is by Ambrose, possibly the best British band ever besides Hylton's. Ambrose made his first records in 1922 but reached his peak around 1935. This excellent version was recorded for Decca on January 29, 1930. Vocal by Lou Abelardo. Tags: Happy Days Are Here Again Ambrose Orchestra 78RPM |

Ambrose Gwinnet is Innocent - Scene One. AMBROSE GWINNET IS INNOCENT The true story of an 18th Century miscarriage of justice was dramatically re-told in Deal on Friday evening, 1st August. Over 180 local people and visitors turned out to enjoy the performance, which started at the Cleary Club in the Landmark Centre and moved on to several outdoor locations including St George's Passage, the Town Hall Undercroft and St George's Church Pleasance. Deal People's Theatre Company, in association with the Cleary Club and Bigfoot Drama Academy, had developed the production over the course of a year, devising script and scenes through improvisation and workshops. Local people of all ages and backgrounds took part in the production, with the main role of Ambrose Gwinnet played by Jerry Vyse, aged 19. Director and Producer, Guy Scantlebury told the audience: "Our aim is to develop community theatre productions in Deal and we welcome people of all ages and all walks of life to join us. We are thrilled to have attracted such a huge audience and that this production has been such an enjoyable success. We will begin developing our next production -- a reworking of Romeo and Juliet set in 1930's Deal -- in September." Guy can be contacted for further information on 01304379 309 or email guy@bigfoot-theatre.co.uk Background: The story of Ambrose Gwinnet tells of a young man who visited Deal in 1709 and was falsely accused of murder and robbery. At trial in Maidstone he was found guilty, the first instance of conviction on purely circumstantial evidence in English legal history. Ambrose was brought to Deal to be hanged by the neck and then hanged in chains. In an extraordinary series of events, Ambrose was found by his family to have survived the hanging and was cut down and revived. (It is thought that he had been cut down quickly by a hangman keen to get away from the day's foul weather and Ambrose had appeared dead as a result of hypothermia following a day-long journey from Maidstone in an open cart. Ambrose was secreted on board a ship and sailed to the West Indies where three years later he met Richard Collins, the man he was supposed to have murdered. Collins had been taken in the night by privateers, explaining his disappearance from the inn where he had shared a bed with Ambrose. The two tried to return to England to establish Ambrose's innocence but further adventures frustrated their ambitions. Collins disappeared and Ambrose fell in with pirates, eventually returning to London a broken man. As the blind, lame beggar of Charing Cross his story was well known in London and was eventually published in pamphlet form by Issak Bickerstaffe, leading to our knowledge of the events today. Latino Street Gangs - Almighty Ambrose Ambrose began in the late 50s under a different name, they changed their name to "Ambrose" in the year 1960. Ambrose started in the year 1960 in the pilsen neighborhood. Upon the start up of Ambrose they soon ended up going to war with the ROYAL KINGS that also operated and started up in the Pilsen neighborhood. Eventually Ambrose was fighting with the Latin Counts in the 1960s another mexican gang just like Ambrose. Mexican immigration became a very large thing in the 1950s and 1960s and they soon started their own gangs to battle off racist white gangs in the area then they would eventually start fighting each other. Royal Kings and Ambrose fought during the 60s till Royal Kings went extinct. Ambrose has been a very slow growing organization in history, they were stricktly located in Pilsen for many years until they spread to South Chicago in about the later 80s to the 90s, and they also moved into Chicago Land suburbs and even other states such as Texas. By the early 1980s Ambrose had a presence on 26th and Kolin; 18th to 22nd/Ashland to Throop. They attended school at that time at Juarez H.S., Curie H.S., Farragut H.S., and Cooper Grade school. In 1980 Ambrose joined the Folks alliance this created a relationship with neighboring Folks gangs like: Satan Disciples, Gangsters Disciples, Racine Boys, and 26s. They battled with people nation gangs at that time right within their vicinity: Latin Counts, Kool Gang, Villa Lobos, Latin Kings, and Bishops. Ambrose did of course have other allies and enemies. Ambrose began to grow more in numbers later in the 80s into the 90s. They soon were bringing in lots of money from drug sales. Ambrose developed a very close relationship with the Two Two Boys that still exists today, they even wear the same colors Black and Baby Blue (except for the 22 boys on 22nd and California who wear the original colors and Brown and Beige). Starting in the year 1991 the Ambrose began to engage in a large scale of interalliance wars with other Folks. The entire Folk nation was experiencing a high volume of interalliance wars in 1991. Ambrose soon was at war with pilsen gangs like SDs, Laraza, Party People, Two Six and others. According to members of Two Two boys Ambrose and Two Two Boys went to war with Two Six because some Two Sixs crashed an Ambrose and Two Two Boy party and shot up members of Ambrose and Two Two Boys. In 1999 a Ambrose fatally shot a undercover Police officer in the head in the Pilsen neighborhood. The Amrose said that he thought the officer was a La Raza gang member which is a rival folk nation gang to Ambrose. After the shooting the Police launched operation "Blue Water" that targeted Ambrose gang members and their drug business. Over two years Police shut down PCP labs and arrested dozens of Ambrose. Major operations were shut down in Gary, Indiana when a lab was raided and PCP and guns were found. There was also a big bust on 71st and State. Police found out about the business through wire taps. Operation "Blue Water" seriously injured Ambrose operations. . latino street gangs - Almighty Ambrose Tags: Almighty Ambrose Gangs Latino OneTrueMedia Street |
