Sutherland Steam Railway Summer Steam Gala 2008 Part 1 Hi everyone Here is Part 1 of our fabulous steam gala video!The engine roster was as follows:- Locos That Appeared At This Gala And The Last Gala- 0-6-0 GWR Pannier Tank No9400 2-6-2 GWR 45XX No4560 0-4-0 BR Side Tank No9 "Belle" 4-6-0 GWR 68XX No6862 "Derwent Grange" 4-6-2 SR BoB 34051 "Winston Churchill" 2-6-0 GWR 43XX No5328 Locos That Did Not Appear At The Last Gala But Did Appear At This Gala- 0-6-0 Pannier Tank No8751 0-6-0 Pannier Tank No5775 4-6-0 LNER B12 No8578 "Prince Palatine" 2-6-2 61XX Large Prairie No6110 0-4-0 0F No56025 "Smokey Joe" 0-4-0 0F No8 "Loch Ness" Both passenger and freight trains operated throughout the gala with much doubleheading and some top and tailing as well as some light engine moves. Visitors reported the gala had been the best on record for the SSR and even bettered this years Winter Steam Gala which was also fantastic. Part 2 will be online as soon Ive finished it but for now enjoy Part 1! Special Trains That Ran- 1)"The Ashford Shuttle":Only runs between Sutherland and Ashford. Single coach service. 2)"The Autocoach Special":For 3 pounds extra per person on top of the price of a normal return train ticket passengers could travel in our autocoach/saloon.The coach was attached to the back of some trains and even made some runs with just a loco.It was a very popular and comfortable service and a complimentary cup of tea and slice of cake was given to all passengers who boarded. Loco Notes- 1)Pannier No8751 only hauled one train (with 9400) and was under test. Tests proved satisfactory and the engine remained on display at Sutherland Shed for the rest of the gala. 2)All other engines ran well with no problems. So,I think Ive said enough,SO...Enjoy!
