Rampi Rampi- Cadirimin Ustune part 3 Greek Turkish shared musics Third and final? chapter of Rampi compilations. The first piece was also the very first version of the song I heard on a recording - typical of the multi ethnic orchestra of the 60s in "Greek America"( Greek, Armenian, Turkish, Arab musicians together). Growing up in New England, the tune Rampi was the second most popular song to dance karsilama among Greek Americans (the first was the song Marinella). The second version, from Turkey, is an unidentified orchestra of very fine musicians while the third features the third generation of clarinet among the Halkias family of Epiros. First was Periklis Halkias to whom I spent many a NY evening dancing and listening, then the legendary Petroloukas Halkias and now Petros the younger. Petroloukas Halkias spent many years in the famous 8th Ave music scene, undoubtedly playing innumerable times the tune Rampi.
