BBC1 junction - 23 Nov 1983 This VHS clip from 1983 was recorded on or just after the 15th November 1983. It starts with the closing credits to an unknown variety type show. Following this is a trailer for Children in Need ending with a mention of Ceefax page 188 where full details could be found. The clip concludes with the mechanical BBC1 globe where the announcer mentions a change in programmes due to the death of John Le Mesurier. Cue tribute episode of Dad's Army. Looking Around (BBC1 1992-1994) This tape came into service on BBC1 in September 1992 following a review of all of the current trade test tapes in service, and the tape Nature Trail was axed in August 1992 as a result of the changes. The tape featured some tracks from the 1960s and included a track which was previously used on To Break A Record: namely the track Feeling Funny. The tape itself sounded more like a 1960s trade test tape, and on this tape alone I can reveal the actual names given to the tracks featured on the clip: 1. Looking Around; 2. Stevie's Strut; 3. Double Two; 4. Blue Train; 5. Blue Dreams. In August 1994 this was replaced by In The Open, which remained with BBC1 until the transfer over to BBC2 in November 1997. Tags: BBC1 testcard music

Child's Play (BBC1 1991-1992) This CEEFAX tape first aired as a replacement for Spring Swing in July 1991 on BBC1 and had undergone some changes as this, the first version of Looks Good, Feels Good, Nature Trail and Start Up all came under review in the autumn of 1992. Thefirst and a few other tracks of Child's Play were deleted from this tape, which now began with the second track, Everything You Need, one of the other tracks were transferred to the second version of Looks Good, Feels Good as track 4 and one track was originally used as the starter track from Japanese Nights, in use on BBC1 back in 1987. In 1997 Everything You Need was one of the tapes which survived the move to BBC2 until it was replaced by Dude Ranch in 1998. Tags: BBC1 testcard music

Slide Rule (BBC1 1993-1997; BBC2 1993-2001) This tape began its life on BBC1 in July 1993 as a replacement for Colours, which had already been replicated on both channels, a trend which began with Jewel In The Night in 1987. This trend ended in November 1997 when BBC1 took on News 24 in its schedules, and so consequently every tape which was played on BBC1 had been transferred to BBC2, and all of BBC2's own exclusive tapes were never replaced after the introduction of Hazel Crest, which again was duplicated and on this tape were repeates of previous tracks from tapes such as Stretching, Twilight Break, Heaven Makes You Happy and Colours. When BBC2 took on the Learning Zone in 1995, and there were longer CEEFAX breaks, it became possible to listen to all the tracks in their entirety, of which this is one such.
