Sri Lanka Air Force bombers destroy a major Terrorist Camp Sri Lankan Govt. rejects LTTE(Tamil Tiger) propaganda on Illuppaikadavai air strikes (2007 Jan. 03,) The Sri Lankan government completly rejects the false information spread by the LTTE on the air strikes carried out by the Air Force on a sea tiger base in Illuppaikadavai, north of Mannar in the morning hours yesterday (02) The government believes that the LTTE is attempting to mislead the International community. The sea tiger base at Illuppaikadavai was a well-identified target, which was under constant observation by the Air Force. The government reiterates that the Air Force carried out this attack on a well-identified sea tiger base and not on a civilian settlement. The LTTE's claim that the injured civilians were taken to the Kilinochchi hospital is a total lie as the nearest hospital to Iluppaikadavai is the fully equipped Mannar hospital. If there were seriously injured people the closest hospital, they could have been taken to be the Anuradhapura General Hospital. The distance from Illuppaikadavai to the Anurdhapura hospital is around 112 kilometers. From Illuppaikadavai to Kilinochchi hospital there is a distance of around 140 kilometers. If there was an air strike on a civilian settlement yesterday, it is astonishing as to why the injured were taken to a hospital far away when there were other hospitals in close proximity. Moreover, there cannot be any civilian casualties in Illuppaikadavai as the Army had banned the area for civilian settlements earlier. Execution for Bali Bombers - Soon Each bomber will be executed by a firing squad of 12 shooters from the elite paramilitary police squad known as Brimob and the three executions will be simultaneous. Of the 12 shooters, only three will have live rounds in their rifles and the squad will be ordered to select a weapon from those laid out on the ground so no one knows who fired the fatal shots. The firing squad will be five to 10 metres away from the men. Legislation states that the command to shoot is given by the commander using a sword, which he brings down from a raised position. However in practice this does not happen any more. Father Burrows said when he watched the Nigerians shot, the command was simply, "one, two, three, fire". Under legislation, if the prisoner does not die after the initial volley of shots, the commander gives what is known as an "amnesty shot" to the head with a revolver. But in recent executions this has never happened. The end for Amrozi, Mukhlas and Samudra will not be pretty. Nor was it for their 202 innocent Bali victims. 3 Islamic militants convicted of carrying out the 2002 Bali bombings will be shot dead on their prison island early next month. The bombers will be put to death in "early November'' on Nusakambangan Island, off Central Java, where their high-security jail is located, a spokesman for Indonesia's Attorney General's office said today. He also indicated that the Attorney General did not believe there were valid grounds for any further legal appeals by Amrozi, his brother Mukhlas and Imam Samudra. "Indonesia's Attorney General is stating that the legal efforts in the terrorism criminal case, on behalf of the defendant Amrozi ... and his friends, has been final,'' spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said. "The plan for the death executions ... will be implemented in early November 2008.'' He added: "Based on the letter from the minister of law and human rights ... the execution for the death convicted, Imam Samudra and his friends, will be located in Nusakambangan, Cilacap District, by the execution team.'' The three men were sentenced to die for playing lead roles in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings, which killed 202 people including 88 Australians. They claim they are ready to die, but that others will take revenge if their executions are carried out. Meanwhile, their defence lawyers continue to plan ways to stall the executions.Just yesterday, defence lawyer Achmad Kholid said a new appeal against the death sentences would be lodged by the bombers' families, possibly as soon as next week.But that now seems like a futile exercise, given the position of the Attorney General that legal efforts in the case are "final''. Earlier this week, Indonesia's Constitutional Court rejected a side challenge by the bombers, who claimed that death by firing squad was unconstitutional and amounted to torture.They said it was cruel and inhumane because they may not die immediately. But the court reaffirmed the method of execution used in Indonesia, saying no execution method could be guaranteed to be pain-free. Bali Bombers Executed 1 Behold the Christian nation of Australia. Australians support the death penalty for some ... like the Bali Bombers. Their failure to make any meaningful attempt to stop the executions evidences their desire for bloodied revenge. Perhaps it is natural to want to seek the death penalty for the crimes of the bombers. It is my opinion the bombers deserve to die for their awful crime. But unlike Australia, I am prepared to admit to my approval of death penalties in such cases. But with the frailty of mind that is so typical of Australians, they wait until AFTER the bombers execution before announcing loudly to the world that it does not support the death penalty. They remained silent until it was too late, thus giving tacit support for the death sentence. Why not say so before the bombers execution ????? Australia does this because of the many Aussies who have committed serious crimes in Asian countries who may yet receive the death penalty in those countries where they commit such crimes. Australians it seems are squeamish about their own being executed, and will do all in its power to prevent such sentences. But apparently Australians are not so concerned as to seek to prevent others in the world or the Bali 3 from the death penalty.
