The grandson in the video is the "popular" Cantor Simcha Levinstein who sings in the choir. Another farmiliar voice on the album is that of Shimon Bell (Sheves Achim) who just released a album with his brother. The song is composed by Shneur Steinberg who also composed "Lemaranan" on the first album. The album is called Arayvim Zeh L'zeh. Composed for the most part by Nachman Seltzer. There is a song by Shaya Cohn, who wrote the lyrics for Nisht Oif Shabbos Geret for Lipa, and and another song by Elimelech Blumstien, who is a major up and coming composer. Arrangements by Leib Yaacov Rigler and Jeff Hurvitch. 11 new songs and one surprise medley. Note Terry Way among the boys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brundibar Brundibár (Czech colloquialism for a bumblebee) is the name of a children's opera by Jewish Czech composer Hans Krása with a libretto by Adolf Hoffmeister and performed by the children of the concentration camp Theresienstadt in occupied Czechoslovakia. The plot of the opera shares elements with fairytales such as Hansel and Gretel and The Town Musicians of Bremen. Aninka (played by Greta Klingsberg) and Pepíček are fatherless sister and brother. Their mother is ill, and the doctor tells them she needs milk to recover. But they have no money. They decide to sing in the marketplace, to raise the needed money. But the evil organ grinder Brundibár chases them away. However, with the help of a dog, a cat and a lark, and the children of the town, they are able to chase Brundibar away in turn, and sing in the market square. A special performance of Brundibar was staged in 1944 for representatives of the Red Cross who came to inspect living conditions in the camp; what the Red Cross did not know at the time was that much of what they saw during their visit was a show, and that one of the reasons the Theresienstadt camp seemed comfortable, was that many of the residents had been deported to Auschwitz in order to reduce crowding during their visit. Most of the participants in the Theresienstadt production, including the composer Krása, were later exterminated in Auschwitz. Manchester Boys Choir - Father in Heaven Above Proper title, Mary Stuart's Prayer. This is one of the most beautiful and poignant treble choir recordings I have ever heard, from Manchester Boys Choir, founded in 1981. The info on the LP sleeve says the founder NEVER turned away any boy who wanted to join and maintained that he could teach any boy to sing. Seems he was right! Absolute perfection. Just sound I'm afraid, so I've added a slideshow of glorious skies at dusk. (Sounds much better in full stereo... message me if you'd like it.)
