Pendant le trajet, son loup est également abatu sous ses yeux mais ses amis indiens viennent à son secours et massacrent les soldats.Recherché pour trahison par la cavalerie américaine, il comprend quil représente un danger pour ses nouveaux amis et les quitte, la mort dans l'âme, en compagnie de Christine.Ce film montre bien la différence entre les peuples, la suprématie et la cruauté de l'armée américaine sur les indiens et la nature en général (massacre des bisons pour leurs peaux...).L'utilisation du journal d'observation de Dunbar, au contenu si précieux pour établir un pont entre ces deux mondes apparemment si différents, par des brutes épaisses totalement incultes, comme d'un vulgaire « torche-cul » pourrait symboliser à elle seule toutes les occasions manquées d'enrichir nos cultures par le partage des connaissances, au lieu d'en utiliser les supports dans des contre-emplois stupides : comme tous ces ouvrages, précieux témoins de leur époque, utilisés comme combustibles, matériaux de construction, ou fondus pour confectionner de la monnaie, des armes ou des outils basiques. It is written in the key of B minor and utilizes the B Dorian modal scale. Despite being released as a single in 1989, it didn't become a hit until it was later featured in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart. Lee Chesnut, an Atlanta radio station music director who was obsessed with David Lynch films, began playing the song and it quickly became a nationwide top ten hit in January of 1991, reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the only hit song of his career in the U.S.The song is a classic Love/Hate relationship.
