He started learning the instrument at age five, being taught by his grandfather. His signature instrument is over a hundred years old and is made from an extinct species of eucalyptus known as the Bloodwood tree. He has performed on the streets of Sydney and with the London Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall, as well as many other locations in the United States, Japan, and Europe. He has also had roles in several movies, of which The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert is probably the best known. Hungarian Violin busker plays Bartók I came accross this violin player busking on the steps of the Buda Royal Castle in Budapest, Hungary (August 2006). He played a number of peices but this one really stood out to me as being outside the usual violin busker repertoire. He didn't speak much English, and I certainly couldn't grasp Hungarian in the week I spent there, but I did manage to shake his hand and tell him he was very good. Anyway, I showed him this very video on my camera's mini-screen, and he told me the composer was Bartók and the title of the peice was... I forgot... but I can remember it ended with 'Transylvania'.
