"Star Dust" by Hoagy Carmichael Hoagy Carmichael is considered one of the greatest of all composers of popular songs and here is perhaps the greatest of them all although arguments could be made for "Georgia On My Mind", "Up The Lazy River" and many, many others! It was first recorded in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael, who went on to become a wonderful character actor in over 20 movies winning an Oscar in 1951! Here is the song by which my father compared all other songs! "It's a nice song", he would say, "but it's not "Star Dust!"" Heart And Soul - Hoagy Carmichael - 'Big' Theme Tune This is the sound recording of the original 'Heart & Soul' in the 1930's (1938). The music was written by Hoagy Carmichael, the lyrics were written by Frank Loesser, the song was actually performed by Larry Clinton & his Orchestra. It is often played as a duet, in C Major. It is a popularly played piece on the piano, however this song (the original) is actually no where on YouTube, which is why I am uploading it. I first became interested in this, (after being able to play a fairly good version myself), I found a video of it, and researched it a little. It is, possibly most famously featured in the film Big, where Tom Hanks plays it on a supersize keyboard. (It's also the theme tune for Big) Another popular appearance was in Stuart Little.
