Cliffs Of Dover (GH3 PS2) Expert 100% FC Definitely my favorite song on Guitar Hero 3 currently, I present to you one of the first "Cliffs of Dover" full combos. This took about an hour, and is really way too easy to be in the 8th tier, but it still ROCKS! Tags: wuLFe Guitar Hero Cliffs Dover Expert |

Robson & Jerome - White Cliffs of Dover A great song originally by Glenn Miller in 40s, with magnificent views: There'll be bluebirds over The white cliffs of Dover Tomorrow, just you wait and see There'll be love and laughter And peace ever after Tomorrow, when the world is free The shepherd will tend his sheep The valley will bloom again And Johnny will go to sleep In his own little room again There'll be bluebirds over The white cliffs of Dover Tomorrow, just you wait and see...! Telcombe Cliffs Cave 29th June update: Some of you may be here following the recent media lies and sensationalisation. (A copy of the article is here http://www.qwerf.com/?p=217) May I point out the first frame of the video, does it look like a sewer? No, because it's not. It's a cave. A cave on a beach? And some children explored it? God forbid! If it's *that* much of a danger then the local council, police and waterboard are the irresponsible ones for not warning the public of the dangers, it's never been a sewer, it's a bloody cave. It's not a danger to anyone with an ounce of common sense. It's also not 30ft off the ground, do you think I'd take my daughter in a sewer full of lord knows what? COPIED FROM http://www.qwerf.com/?p=58 See that url for the full story with pics So for a long time this has baffled me. The first time I found the cave I was walking a dog, I couldn't get the dog up there and I didn't want to leave him, plus I had no torch. It grinded on my mind for sometime, at the entrance to the cave you see it goes as far back into the cliff face as the naked eye can see. It's obvious it's man made by it's structure and the retired metal "gate". Plus sitting at the entrance you hear this "boom.....boom" at random intervals. This made my mind wander, I'm thinking..... Where does it go? What makes these strange noises? Who made it and why? So I largely forgot about it, until recently. I was taking the kids to the beach, so I equipped myself with a 99 pence torch and wandered off. Problem is the cave is 7 feet from the ground, and it takes enough effort getting myself up there (let alone down :)). There's no way I could get the kids up as well on my own. Anyway the torch I had was pathetic - it didn't make a dint on the darkness. Again I pondered the mysterious cave. So today again we're going to the beach again - I arm myself with two torches and a camera - into the unknown. The nightvision camera and torches don't do the total darkness justice, this coupled with the strange boom noise at infrequent intervals made it a suspicious adventure. Excuse the shakyness of the camera, bear in mind I'm 6′5″ stopping down a tunnel with two torches and a video camera! Also the cave is rather dusty, hence my bank robber appearence. So finally my questions are answered. At the end of the cave on the left is a small "room" probably 5×5 feet. Someone has obviously been there before, it's littered with candle tea lights, they also seem to have had a fire, although gawd knows what they did with the smoke! Just a little further down you start to hear running water, through a gap just large enough for me to fit through is a 6 foot drop. Venturing this far and you find a vertical cylindrical tunnel with a "ladder". Down you see running water (curiously enough it doesn't run towards the sea, it runs left to right at a slight diagonal towards the sea). I assume sewage water rather than a diverted stream, although if it is sewage it doesn't thankfully come with any smell. Looking up one assumes it goes to the surface - here you find the answer to the noise. I has to be car wheels driving over a manhole cover! So I was largely dissapointed, I don't really know what I expected to find, but it was nothing too exciting. I didn't bother venturing up or down the ladder - you must appreciate without the torch I couldn't see my hand in front of my face, secondly I'm not sure on the sturdiness or age of the ladder....Although I had no desire to be climing up or down dank dark holes. The only reason I put this on my blog is for the other curious minds, I googled "Telscombe Cliffs cave" prior to today only to find Chuck Fosters' website. Apparantly Telscombe Beach was part of a Doctor Who movie "Mindwarp" in the eighties. This is why I was wondering....perhaps the cave was made for the movie or something? Here's a screengrab from the movie: More curiously there were two caves to my knowledge. One at sea level (well the very bottom of the cliff) that you could literally walk into - but this had been long filled with many stones and other sea junk. It is of the same diameter and makup as the other, blatently bored out of the cliff. But then Chuck Foster took the following photo. That's not the same cave as 'mine' and the one from the Doctor who movie I can't reconise either, so there is obviously at least another one further down the beach. So that still leaves me thinking, if there's a manhole cover leading down to maintain the 'sewer' why have these caves? Who made them? It's not a simple task to get through 50 ish feet of rock surely? So now you know how I entertain my Sunday afternoons! The first photo is copyright the BBC, and credit/copyright goes to Chuck Foster for the second. Cliffs of Dover / Expert 5 Stars (No SP) on Drums Eric Johnson rules! This one was a request. I was glad to have a reason to take the time to practice some of the tricky parts. I beat my original score (when I 5-star'd it once, barely, playing through career) but without star power this time. I like the song too much to clutter it up with all the crowd screaming. Plus there's a bug in the game (which I've reported) where if you have a lag calibration setting for audio, the crowd claps out of beat with the music and it's annoying. UPDATE: People told me to turn down the sfx. Great idea! I'm gonna do that. Thanks. I missed a lot of easy notes in this take. Not sure why. Maybe my aim was off. I don't look at the drum pads when I play so I had to get used to where the pads are by just arm position. But that just came naturally after playing on this thing for months :) Final score was 204602 = 3.058x average multiplier. The best no-SP score I've gotten on it is 208k. But this one was a rare take where I actually hit all the SP phrases, so I like it better. Thanks again for checking all this stuff out! FAQ: ---- Q: How does it work? A: Everything is explained in detail here: http://egyokeo.com/midihero Q: How do you do 3-note chords? A: All "two adjacent note" power chords are mapped to the top 4 pads, so with two hands I can play any 3-note chord except GYO. Q: How do you do whammy and star power? A: I use a bass drum pedal on my right foot to activate star power, and a hi-hat pedal on my left foot to control whammy depth. Q: How do you hold notes? A: My MIDI Hero software has an auto-hold feature for every note hit because it's more natural for a drummer to play that way. It's not a good feeling to mash sticks into drum pads to hold notes. Q: How much does this cost? A: The drumKat is a pro-quality MIDI drum pad set. These days, they run about $1k. I also use a PC to run my custom home-brew MIDI Hero software to interpret the drum events. Then the "XIM" and "XFPS" add another $100+. This is not made for the masses. This is a one-of-a-kind setup. Q: Do you play real drums? Are you in a band? A: Yes, I've been playing drums since 1986. I have been in various bands from Jazz to Ska over the years. Right now I'm in the Detroit-based ska band The Exceptions. Q: Are you getting Rock Band? A: I'm not so sure anymore. Rock drum parts are generally pretty boring, repetitive and monotonous. The rhythms in Guitar Hero are so much more challenging and fun. Plus Rock Band doesn't support a standard controller and so I cannot use my custom rig with it. Q: Is "MIDI Hero" available to the public? A: I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make it publicly available. I'll keep the answer to this question updated in the FAQs of all future videos if anything ever changes in this department. If I did ever release it, I'd also likely have a link to it on my website (link above). . Tags: Guitar Hero GH3 Cliffs Dover Expert Stars MIDI Drums drumKat Xbox 360 |

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover (VERY clean cover ) ***For those asking for Effect settings, I have no idea. The guitarist is a sound engineer and a graduate from Berklee College of Music, so I'm pretty sure he had the tone mastered. All I know is that he was running a POS guitar through a Fender Cyber-Twin amp.*** My friend Theo Chou (previously of Losing Daylight) playing a cover of Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. It may not be the quickest or the most entertaining performance, but from a clean standpoint, it kicks ass... especially considering its a whole band and not just a guy playing with an Eric Johnson CD. This was done back in 2002 in the basement of an old church using sound equipment that was just sitting around (hence the crappy drum set). There was no intention of putting it on youtube... they were just jamming and having fun and we got a little bit of it on video. Electric Violin - Cliffs of Dover - (Guitar Hero Cover) My name is Eddie Carlson, and this is the first violin cover of Eric Johnson's epic "Cliffs of Dover." I hope you enjoy my performance. I am playing a Yamaha SV-200 through a Boss ME-50 effects pedal. The audio/video sync is a little off...I think it just has something to do with being uploaded to youtube because there's no similar latency when the actual video file plays on my computer. Oh well. I don't have the sheet music for this song, so I can't send it to you - sorry. Check out the guitar tabs, they're posted online everywhere.
