Rick Santelli Takes Down Jim Cramer Maybe, just maybe, the single coolest thing I've ever seen on CNBC. Rick Santelli heard just about enough of Jim's lies today (Tuesday, January 22, 2008). So, he called ol' Jimbo out. What a glorious moment! The first time a CNBC-ite challenged their King. (No disrepect to you, Mr. Santelli, but Jim Cramer was crowned, King Shill the First in 2005.) The really neat thing is this: Although Jim got all huffy and tough sounding, and said how "bearish" he had been (you'll see what I mean), I added some cute video clips that show that Rick Santelli was right: Jim was pounding people into stocks all last year. Jim Cramer Flip Flops on The Federal Reserve Back when "the fed" cut rates (the first time) in September, Jim gloated that his "they know nothing" scripted-monologue (for which he deserved an emmy - or at least his writer) had sparked "the fed" into action. Enough action that A) The market would surpass his year-end prediction of 14,500, B) There was NO chance of recession of the US economy, C) "The Fed" were smart, "good guys", who were on "our team", D) that there was a wall of money about to blow the bears out, and E) that all it took was that ONE RATE CUT (don't miss that part!). Uh, right. Anyway, now that the market has melted down, Jim's singing a new tune. Did Jim make a bad call? Oh, heck no! It's all gone sour because of those lousy fed dudes. Funny, how that happens to the ol' snake-oil salesman. See, Jim Cramer has a goal - Make money selling DVDs, Ring Tones, and Books. I guess he's got two goals if you count his fat-ass CNBC contract. To maintain book sales, ring tone downloads, and keep that contract with CNBC, Jim's gotta tell stories every night that keep his core audience of high-schoolers, soccer-moms, angry-loners, and "cool, I've got 10 free trades at Ameritrade this month since I opened an account with $500" newbies. The stories Jim tells are long-winded, scripted fairy-tales that focus on "keeping you in the game". And, the way to "keep you in the game" is to keep your eye off the truth. If Jim was ever held accountable for the veracity of his comments, he'd, well, be out of a job. This video is a MUST-WATCH example of Jim's blatant, unbridled flip-flops, bad calls, and bullshit. If you are a CNBC executive sick of Jim Cramer, I suggest you add it to your library. One day, when you're looking for reasons to let him go, this could be the start of the conversation! Booyah!
