"Crash" (1996) David Cronenberg Commentary I would love to share the rest of this commentary. Unfortunately some of the film does not follow YouTube standards. Anyone have suggestions on how to get around this? This director's commentary is only available on the 1997 Criterion Collection laserdisc. It hasn't been issued on DVD yet. This is the last 10 minutes of the film - the final crash and Cronenberg wraps up his thoughts. For Amy and Ben - my fellow Cronenberg junkies. David Cronenberg on Andy Warhol, Part 1 Part 1 (of 5) of a bloggers-only interview with David Cronenberg, guest curator of "Supernova: Stars, Death and Disasters, 1962 - 1964". Rocketboom's Andrew Baron and a number of Toronto bloggers, including me, had Cronenberg to ourselves for about a half hour, during which we could ask him questions related to Warhol or the exhibit. This video is the first of two in which Drew conducted a one-on-one interview with Cronenberg for Rocketboom. In the remaining three, the other bloggers got to ask the questions. Long Live The New Flesh - David Cronenberg Doc - Part 1 This is an early documentary on David Cronenberg. I recorded it off TV in the late 80s and only recently transferred it from VHS recently, so the quality isn't great, but I thought I'd upload it anyway and it seems quite rare and fans of David will hopefully find it interesting. It features Martin Scorsese and Stephen King among others, and covers censorship too. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0228187/ This is only part 1, I am splitting it up and will upload the rest over the next few days Tags: Long Live The New Flesh David Cronenberg BBFC ferman scorsese |

CRASH,DAVID CRONENBERG FILM,PART 3 Directed by DAVID CRONENBERG, this brutal, horrifying film is based on the 1973 novel by J. G. Ballard. James and Catherine Ballard (played by JAMES SPADER and DEBORA KARA UNGER)are a married couple whose sex life has been reduced to recounting tales of mutual infidelity to turn each other on. One night, James causes a head-on collision with a car carrying Dr. Helen Remington (HOLLY HUNTER), killing her husband and severely injuring her and himself. Subsequent encounters with each other find that she is oddly sexually aroused by the danger of car accidents and potential accidents, and, he soon falls in with a cult of car-crash fetishists and invites his wife to join in with them. The group is led by Vaughan (ELIAS KOTEAS), a former scientist twisted by his own disfigurement in an accident and, as a result, a man obsessed with car crashes as a liberation of sexual energy. Vaughan inducts the Ballards and Dr. Remington into his surreal world of sex in the back seats of cars, re-enactments of famous car crashes such as James Dean and Jayne Mansfield, viewing photos of accident victims, screenings of collision videos as a kind of pornography, and fender benders as mating rituals. These encounters turn soon into a rollercoaster of madness, violence and death, in this highly acclaimed movie that won the Golden Palm in the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. Dead Ringers, David Cronenberg film, part 1. Claire Niveau is in love with Beverly. Or does she love Elliot? It's uncertain because brothers Beverly and Elliot Mantle are identical twins sharing the same medical practice, apartment and women - including unsuspecting Claire. In portrayals that won the New York Film Critics Best Actor Award, Jeremy Irons plays twin gynecologists whose emotional dependency collapses into mind games, madness and murder. Genevieve Bujold, the Los Angeles Film Critics Best Supporting Actress choice, is Claire. And David Cronenberg (The Fly) won Los Angeles Film Critics Best Director honors for melding split-screen techniques, body doubles and Irons' uncanny acting into an eerie, fact-based tale that is "unnerving but also enthralling" (Desson Howe, The Washington Post).
