After Dürer After Dürer is a new film by Daniel Belton about maths and music, combining alchemy with choreography in an on-screen exploration of Albrecht Dürer's famous print 'Melencolia'. Martin Lodge of Waikato University Music Department initiated the project, and scored the cello parts as played by James Tennant. These sound phrases were mixed and restructured in post production along with all the visual editing by Daniel Belton. The concept and choreography for the film was developed by Daniel with Donnine Harrison, Peter Belton, and Martin Lodge. Digital artist Jac Grenfell brought to life the complex Polyhedron (or Geometric Body), which is the centre piece of the engraving. World Premiere at The Body Festival, October 2007, Christchurch, New Zealand. After Dürer was selected for New Zealand Listener Magazines Best of Dance film 2007: "Time-travelling, Belton, as both alchemist and object, creates dance housed within a magic digital architecture" After Dürer has made official selection to IL COREOGRAFO ELETTRONICO 2008, in Naples, Italy. Dürer said all artists were therefore melancholics" Peter Belton "With black and white (tone) Dürer could make us feel colour - this was his genius" Peter Belton "If this shape was discovered by Dürer himself, then the possibility arises that the odd shaped block and its magic square are not just two iconographical elements, amongst many others, but perhaps even the raison d'etre of the whole work. Its very strangeness would justify its being used as the subject of a picture; and if Dürer wanted to use it, but not to betray its source, then the block and the square would have to be set amongst many symbolic objects, all relating to geometry and its practical use, so that the connection between the two would be obscured. This would mean, in effect, that Melencolia and all her attendant iconography would now be seen as a vehicle for the illustration of a discovery, a vehicle so erudite in its symbolism that it has intrigued scholars for years." Nazrul Geeti - Ke Tumi Durer Shaathi BY Jaheda Begum Jaheda Begum is a performer and teacher of North Indian Classical Vocal, Thumri, Ghazal, Bhajan, Nazrul Geeti, Modern Bengali and Hindi songs. She is the youngest daughter of late Ustad Kader Buksh, a renowned classical musician of Murshidabad, West Bengal, who developed many ragas in Indian classical music. His music compositions were collected by Sangeet Research Academy of Calcutta, and are currently preserved in Delhi Academy of Music. Jaheda Begum is also the sister of Ustad Hafiz Hossain and Ustad Hamid Hossain of Baltimore, MD. During her childhood Jaheda Begum got lessons in classical vocal from her father. Her first public performance was at the age of 14 in India. She moved to Bangladesh in 1972, and was a regular artist in Bangladesh Radio and Telivison. She appeared in public performances in various cities in USA and Canada since she came to USA in 1992. She has released one album in Nazrul Geeti "Ke Tumi Durer Shaathi". Albrecht Dürer e il suo tempo and his time Albrecht Dürer (Norimberga, 21 maggio 1471 -- Norimberga, 6 aprile 1528) è stato un pittore, incisore, matematico e xilografo tedesco. Figlio di un ungherese, viene considerato il massimo esponente della pittura tedesca rinascimentale. Albrecht Dürer, terzogenito di 18 figli, nacque il 21 maggio 1471 a Norimberga dall'omonimo orefice e da sua moglie Barbara. Il padre era originario dell'Ungheria; all'età di 40 anni aveva sposato a Norimberga la figlia appena quindicenne del suo maestro Holper. Fin da ragazzo si rivelò dotato di talento e fu preso quindi come praticante nella bottega del padre. La prima testimonianza del suo eccezionale talento è l'autoritratto del 1484, un disegno conservato all'Albertina di Vienna. Quest'opera, che fu realizzata davanti allo specchio quando Dürer aveva solo tredici anni, non è certo priva di errori. Il dito troppo lungo con cui l'artista indica la propria immagine riflessa, o la mano nascosta che regge lo stilo, come pure gli occhi, che non hanno uno sguardo reale, provano la goffaggine del principiante. Eppure, questa giovanile rappresentazione di sé è piena di fascino; ed è per giunta il primo autoritratto dell'arte europea che si presenti come autonomo, cioè come opera a sé stante. Questo autoritratto, che era stato preceduto da tentativi disegnativi di cui si hanno testimonianze certe, già indica peraltro la direzione essenziale della sucessiva produzione di Dürer: l'attività di ritrattista. È un fatto ancora troppo poco tenuto in considerazione: non solo Dürer ha dipinto, disegnato e inciso numerosi ritratti fino agli ultimi anni della sua vita, ma fin dall'inizio del secondo decennio del XVI secolo anche i suoi quadri religiosi presentano in misura sempre crescente un carattere ritrattistico. All'età di sedici anni, quando aveva appena concluso il tirocinio, dichiarò al padre che avrebbe preferito diventare pittore. Poiché non fu possibile fargli fare il praticantato nella lontana Colmar, presso Martin Schongauer (conosciuto e stimato in tutta Europa come pittore e incisore in rame), il padre lo mise a bottega a due passi da casa, presso Michael Wolgemut e Wilhelm Pleydenwurff.
