The Beatles - Dizzy Miss Lizzy The Beatles - Dizzy Miss Lizzy Copyright - 1965 EMI Records Ltd. "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" is a song composed and sung by Larry Williams in 1958. The song has been covered many times, including — most famously — by the Beatles on the 1965 Help! album, though the recording was initially intended for the 1965 American Beatles compilation Beatles VI along with the Larry Williams cover "Bad Boy", recorded by the Beatles on the same day. Paul McCartney has stated that he believes this song to be one of the Beatles best recordings. It features loud, rhythmic instrumentation, along with John Lennon's particularly rousing vocals. The song also appeared in a live solo version by Lennon on the Plastic Ono Band's Live Peace in Toronto 1969. In the United States, the Beatles' version was on the album Beatles VI. In the UK, it was on Help!. The title is playfully misleading, the actual lyric being, "You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy". The song was originally thought about by band manager Brian Epstein, and was later introduced to Ringo Starr, the band's drummer. He made sure that the band recorded it after loving its upbeat rhythm and interesting lyrics. Dizzy Miss Lizzy looks like a follow up to "Twist and Shout". Lyrics: You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy The way you rock and roll You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy When we do the stroll Come on Miss Lizzy Love me 'fore I grow too old Come on, give me fever put your little hand in mine You make me dizzy dizzy Lizzy oh, girl you look so fine Just a rocking and a rolling Girl I said I wish you were mine, ah Ooh, ah You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy When you call my name Ooo, baby Say you're driving me insane Come on, come on, come on, come on baby I want to be your loving man, Ah Run and tell your mama I want you be my bride Run and tell your brother Baby don't run and hide You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy Girl I want to marry you Come on, give me fever put your little hand in mine, girl You make me dizzy dizzy Lizzy Girl you look so fine You're just a rocking and a rolling Ooo I said I wish you were mine, ah Tags: The Beatles 1965 Help! |

Dizzy Reece - Summertime Tony Hall (who did a lot of hard work in the British jazz scene during the 50's ) persuaded Alfred Lion -Blue Note- to record trumpeter Dizzy Reece. So Reece, living in London by that time, recorded 'Blues in Trinity' with Art Taylor (drs) and Donald Byrd (t), (who where working in Paris by that time) Tubby Hayes (s), Terry Shannon(p) and Lloyd Thompson(b) in a studio in north London. It was on August 24, 1957. When Dizzy Reece (born in Jamaica, living in New York now) came over to America, it was quite a buzz. Picked up by Blue Note, he recorded another two great albums, Star Bright and Soundin' Off. 1958-1959 Was a very productive year for Blue Note, recording 68 sessions with several new leaders like Duke Pearson, Tina Brooks, Jackie McLean and Donald Byrd. I have to say, Reece's albums where much better then (the more famous) albums from Donald Byrd coming out in those years. Reece did one album for Prestige, 'Asia Minor', in 1962. 'Summertime' is one of the great tracks of the album. With baritonist Cecil Payne, Joe Farrell on tenor and flute, pianist Hank Jones, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Charlie Persip.
