Medeski, Scofield, Deitch & Ross @ All Good 2008 On Saturday there was a little jam and audience Q&A session over at the Ropeadope stage. Medeski, Scofield and Deitch jammed for about 30 minutes then took some audience questions from a mic that was passed around. The music was great and was probably the most memorable thing I saw all weekend. Great interplay between all three of these world class musicians. Throughout the jam some d-bag straight from the set of Malibu's Most Wanted kept making his way to the front and telling the security guy to let him up on stage so he could freestyle with them. Loud as hell and extremely annoying. Obviously waaaay spun. He'd give up after a while and go away, them come back a couple minutes later and try again. Eventually the Q&A portion started up. The crowd obviously wanted more music rather than talking, but some decent questions got in there once it got going. At the end, Scofield said they'd take one more question. D-bag books it up front to grab the mic and ask if he can get up on stage and rap with them. I guess Scofield wasn't watching everything go down during the jam, so he said yes. And we ended up with what you see here. Tags: All Good Festival 2008 Medeski Scofield Deitch Ross |

Chris Johanson Totalities, at DEITCH PROJECTS James Kalm sneaks a peak at the installation and returns for the opening of "Totalities" at the Deitch Project space in Soho. Hailing from Northern California's Bay Area, Johanson has been aligned with the local Skate-Punk scene as well as the street art community. "Totalities" is an ambitious project that seeks to represent a utopian conglomeration of environmental awareness, and a desire to recapture innocence through recycling and responsible employment of resources. Included are a "space temple" with rotating gray crystal, a skin-tone checkerboard wall, and a drawing gallery, all fashioned from recycled lumber. Featuring an interview with Chris Johansen.
