Cast: Ninomiya Kazunari (二宮和也) Kitahara Kazunori Otake Shinobu (大竹忍) Kitahara Mikiko Story: Kitahara Kazunori (Ninomiya), 17 years old, second year in high school, also is a team member of school table tennis. Because he feels pain with his left foot, so he went to see the doctor. However, the result was not good: Kazunori got Ewing's sarcoma - it is different from cancers of the same kind. It occurs in the bones and flesh, and spreads through the blood. It is a malignant tumor common in children below 10, and in teenagers. It is rarer than cancer, so Kazunori need to do the chemotherapy as soon as possible. First of all, everything went good, but after around half a year, it start turn worst! But Kazunori doesnt give up and continue study, so he still can attend the last year in high school. Although the tumor starts grow bigger and worse, Kazunori still decided to go to Tokyo University, he studied hard for the university examination and was successfully admitted his first choice. However, Kazunori only attend the university one day, he need to stay in hospital because the tumor start attack the other part in his body; the doctor told his mother, Kitahara Mikiko (Otake) that ho cannot do anything right now because all the chemotherapy were not work, and Kazunori only have around one week left! Kazunori has a brother Masaichi (Takahashi Issei) who is study in US during the winter time; before he went to US, Masaichi try to give up his dream, he want to stay with Kazunori, but Kazunori told his brother dont give up his dream, so Masaichi still go to US for study. Kazunori know that he cannot wait for his brother come back ,but he dont want his brother give up his study, so he told his mother didnt let his brother know until he back. After 1 year and 10 month for fighting for Ewings sarcoma, Kazunori passed away. He left a message to his parents: he wont give up and continue study because he wants to repay his parents to raise him, although he already knows he cannot finish study in university!! Although Kazunori only have 18 years to live, but during he fight for his illness, he received support from his friends, school teachers and family members, and had warm relations with many people, his life was full, and gave out a message to all people: DONT GIVE UP UNTIL THE END, EVEN THE WORST!! This is a true story, the writer is Kazunoris mother Kitahara Mikiko, she compiled the thoughts he had left behind and published it as a book after Kazunori death, and it was adapted into this drama. When I watch the drama, I cannot hold my tears, crying several times during watching. This drama was so touching and sad, however, it sends a strong message: dont give up until the end, even the worst!!
