[Notes:NOAA video]Dolly is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Texas-Mexico border On both sides of the border, people are bracing. City officials say five shelters are open and three more are ready in case they are needed. [Notes:close of plywood - KSAT] Loading up sheets of plywood to protect their homes and prepare for what's predicted to be Hurricane Dolly.SOT: Frank Surrata, resident: "Last few years, we've had a lot of near misses. But that doesn't mean people are not going to get prepared. Cause we all seen what happened to Katrina and everything else. Better to spend the money now, than spend a lot more later." [Notes:NOAA video]Early Tuesday, the storm was still at Tropical Storm strength. But even that could mean high winds and up to 20 inches of rain. [Notes:map - AP Graphic] And the National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning from Brownsville to Port O'Connor, with tropical storm warnings for even more of the Texas coast.
