John Searle: Beyond Dualism Pt. 1 John Searle is an American philosopher interested in philosophy of mind. Here are some key elements of Searle's position. * Rejects computational theory of mind with his Chinese Room argument. * Rejects Cartesian dualism. Probably rejects property dualism as well. * Study of consciousness using scientific method IS possible. This is very much against previously conceived notion that goes something like "consciousness is known subjectively only, thus scientific inquiry from third person perspective cannot explain consciousness." * Reduction of consciousness to neurobiological phenomena is not strictly possible since nuerobiological phenomena loses the qualitative feel of subjectivity. One must tackle this problem directly without eliminating consciousness. * Rejects epiphenomenalism, so he admits free will is real. I think he now takes somewhat agnostic position on this issue. Dualism and Out of Body Experiences A follow up to the previous video concerning dualism, the experience of being out-of-body is an indication of how separable body and mind are in human imagination (although presumably not 'really'). OOBEs also have the unusual property of not being totally disembodied; there is a sense in which we take our viewpoint with us when we detach in this way, seeing the world through imaginary eyes located outside the body. consciousness dualism د عمر عبدالكافي في جامع بالشالات Translated by Ashraf Zohairy aka shrshr2007 He started the sermon with thanks to ALLAH, then the prayer and peace on the messenger of ALLAH Mohammed. He said after this, the throbbing of heart resulting from the preoccupation away from ALLAH, Therefore, we as a Muslims must thank, ALLAH (the powerful, glorified) for the prayer grace, why? The other nations worship ALLAH from week to week, Saturday or Sunday. And from the grace of ALLAH towards monotheist Muslim (This generosity of ALLAH, we thank ALLAH for this grace) that every several hours a herald is calling "Come to prayer," "Come to Alfalah (the success)" Why? Oh serf (slave) of ALLAH, come and renew your covenant with who created you (ALLAH), renew your covenant with ALLAH. "Allah Akbar" [Allah the greatest] (prayer opening), leave the worldly life behind your back. Quran (All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alalmîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists). [means, because ALLAH Who guided us to the Islam] Quran (The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). [means that who (Allah) accepts our righteous works]. Quran (The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). [Means that we haven't anything except ALLAH, because ALLAH is the judge (about what we did). Then pray, Quran (Guide us to the Straight Way ........). This happens every several hours Thus Thus..... , like a river is flowing in front of house door of one of you, and wash in it every day for five times. Is this will remain any dirt? Either halt of the heart and its stillness away from obedience and its deviating away, it is a result of people were unaware of ALLAH (Glorified is He, and High is He above all). We ask God to don't be like these unaware people and ask HIM to be from whom remembering Allâh much with their hearts and tongues. The throbbing of heart resulting from the preoccupation away from ALLAH, therefore he was talking about a grace from Allah to Muslims, the prayer and we're not like other nation whom are worshipping Allah one day a week (Saturday or Sunday). This prayer for 5 times per day to renew your covenant with who created you (ALLAH), to renew your covenant with ALLAH and this prayer for 5 times per day to renew your covenant with who created you (ALLAH), to renew your covenant with ALLAH and this happen when herald is calling "Allah Akbr", "Come to prayer" "Come to Alfalah (the success)". This such as a river is flowing in front of your house door, and you're washing in every day for five times. Is this will remain any dirt? The prayer makes the Muslim near of Allah; therefore, his/her heart remains awake always and doesn't forget Allah. At the end of this sermon, he said a invocation to Allah to forgive us and to facilitate every arduous to us and to other Muslims especially in Palestine Ceci tel qu'un fleuve coule devant votre porte de maison, et vous lavez dans journalier pendant cinq fois.
