Dumas - Au gré des saisons Pour ce clip, M24 a réalisé les séquences d'animations à partir de vieilles gravures, composité les images des filles qui font les lettres de l'alphabet pour écrire des paroles de la chanson, et crée une tornade de confettis en particules CGI. M24 a aussi réalisé l'effet du visage invisible sur lequel de la peinture coule en faisant de la rotoscopie et en projettant une texture animée sur un visage CGI aligné sur celui de Dumas. For this music video, M24 has done the animation sequences from old etchings, composited the shots of girls making letters of the alphabet in order to write lyrics from the song, and created a confettis tornade in CGI particules. M24 also created the effect of the invisible face on which paint is dripping by doing rotoscopie and by mapping an animated texture onto a CGI face tracked on Dumas' face. After a two-year stay, she and her family moved back to Iran and lived in Ahvaz and Tehran. Two years later, they moved back to Whittier, then to Newport Beach. Firoozeh then attended UC Berkeley where she met and married a Frenchman. Firoozeh grew up listening to her father, a former Fulbright Scholar, recount the many colorful stories of his life. In 2001, with no prior writing experience, Firoozeh decided to write her stories as a gift for her two children. Random House published these stories in 2003. Funny in Farsi was on the SF Chronicle and LA Times bestseller lists and was a finalist for the PEN/USA award in 2004 and a finalist in 2005 for an Audie Award for best audio book (she lost to Bob Dylan). She is currently a finalist for the prestigious Thurber Prize for American Humor. She is the first Middle Eastern woman ever to receive this honor. Championing the under-represented classes, her characters occupy an unholy ground where the viewer's individual morality, ethics and adherence to ideological convention are questioned. Marlene Dumas makes paintings with no concept of the taboo. Racism, sexuality, religion, motherhood and childhood are all presented with chilling honesty. Undermining universally held belief systems, Dumas corrupts the very way images are negotiated. Stripped of the niceties of moral consolation, Marlene Dumas's work provokes unmitigated horror. She offers no comfort to the viewer, only an unnerving complicity and confusion between victims and oppressors. "It was my first time in a peepshow so when the girl smiled at me I said "Only looking", and she replied "That's how I got started here too"." Removing the hierarchical value system of perception, Marlene Dumas presents unsettling truths as paintings because there is no other means to communicate their primal essence. Working from her own photos and pictures found in magazine and film archives, her canvases act as sociological studies. Subjects, already at one remove, are further physically and dispassionately distanced by her instinctive and disquieting painting style. Often described as an 'intellectual expressionist', Marlene Dumas blurs the boundaries between painting and drawing. Bold lines and shapes mix seamlessly with ephemeral washes and thick gestural brushwork. By simplifying and distorting her subjects, Marlene Dumas creates intimacy through alienation. Her subjects' assertive stares suggest that her paintings aren't actually about them, but the viewer's own reaction to their perverse circumstance. With deceptive casualness, Marlene Dumas exposes the monstrous capacity belied by 'civilised' human nature. Beneath Marlene Dumas's hard-hitting social dialogue is a deep-rooted ideological equality.
