'Animation from Pencils to Pixels ~ Classical Techniques for Digital Animators'. The book is conceived to be the ultimate reference book for all contemporary animators, dealing with traditional techniques of movement and production process that can be utilized in the modern digital world. It seemed totally relevant therefore to offer an animated overview of the great classic moments of traditional animation, and then explain how these original pieces were produced and how I replicated them in a digital environment. This is all indicated and explained in the book's accompanying interactive CD, amongst other things. Africa's endangered mountain gorillas - 25 Sep 07 Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports from Virunga National Park near the Democratic Republic of Congo's border with Rwanda on the endangered mountain gorillas who live in a vast expanse of forest there. There are only 720 of them left on earth. But nine of them have been killed since the beginning of this year. Tracking their footprints, Ndege ventured deep into the forest with a rangers' patrol to investigate the threats facing the mountain gorillas. The national park is the kind of habitat that gorillas need to survive. But it's also the theatre of an intense battle between government troops and rebels fighting alongside the renegade general Laurent Nkunda. It's not just the recent fighting that's wreaking havoc on the gorilla population. Poachers set snares, illegal "invaders" and also people going into the park to cut down the trees to make charcoal. Endangered Animals Love a little in the wild side. I have one word to say...Conservation. The Music is the theme song to the old children's favourite, Animals of Farthing Wood. Yes it is just music, but I think it suits this clip well :) Farthing Wood is being destroyed for housing, and when the last pond is filled in, the animals begin a life changing journey. They are bound together by an Oath, to lay aside their differences and instincts and protect one another. Many peril through the journey, due to poachers and human conflict, but they charge onwards to their destination, White Deer Park. The Oath of protection remains in tact, and is soon replaced by friendship and loyalty to one another. If they can protect one another, why can't we do the same to them? Note: Please excuse the mistake at the end with the Wildlife Warriors logo outside the white box. (June 24)As hundreds of wildfires burn across California, the Coast Guard is swooping in, trying to save animals in harm's way. It took two flights, but crews were able to rescue eight endangered birds when a wildfire threatened their sanctuary. Five condors and two wildlife society members were rescued in the first flight. And in the second flight, three more birds and the remaining wildlife rescuer were pulled to safety. A group that prepares captive-bred condors for life in the wild pleaded for help after a fire broke out nearby over the weekend. The fire in Monterey County, California was sparked by lightning Saturday and quickly spread. By Monday night, the fire had grown to more than 7-thousand acres. And the fate of the condor release site remains unknown. The evacuated birds were taken to another condor site at the Pinnacles National Monument, where they'll be released later this year.
