Michael Jordan 1997 Finals: Gm 5 Vs. Jazz, "FLU GAME", 38pts This is the Legendary Flu Game where MJ rises from his death-bed. It is my opinion that this game can be considered MJ's greatest game ever. The book "MJ's 50 Greatest Games" ranks this at #2. This is the game that signified the core and purity of Michael Jordan. Take away all the circus shots, amazing dunks, hang-time jumpers, acrobatic drives, huge scoring nights etc, and you had what Michael Jordan represented - the unparalleled desire and will to succeed in the most crucial moments and in the most dramatic fashion. The only question left after this game was whether MJ would be the greatest there ever will be. MJ's sickness left him devoid of energy, food and sleep. During the game, someone mistakenly gave him Gatorlode instead of Gatorade which made things even worse since Gatorlode is a post-activity drink. But the Bulls needed this game since the series was tied 2-2 and losing this game meant they would have to go to 7 games to win the title. This was unacceptable to MJ. Also, that year's "MVP-trohy borrower" Karl Malone had to be defeated. Going 13-27 (modest by MJ's standards) and at times, about to pass out, MJ stuck through and came up with the clutch FT, clutch rebound and of course, the famous clutch trey-winner. Is it possible to have more drama? MJ stated that he still has trouble remembering the whole game because of his condition. He said, "I almost died playing that game." The greatest, as always, MJ. Allen Iverson 48pts 2001 NBA Final Gm1 vs Kobe Bryant Lakers Allen Iverson finally shook his shadow and shook up the NBA Finals. Hounded by unheralded Tyronn Lue, Iverson scored seven of his 48 points in a one-minute span of overtime as the Philadelphia 76ers stunned the Los Angeles Lakers with a 107-101 victory in the opener of the NBA Finals. Iverson scored 30 points in a scintillating first half, letting everyone know that the 76ers were going to be more than another pushover for the powerful Lakers. His late flurry silenced the Staples Center and unceremoniously ended Los Angeles' run at a perfect postseason. "Anybody that bet on it, some broke people out there," Iverson said. "I'm glad nobody didn't bet their life on it 'cause they definitely would be dead right now." Instead, the Sixers -- double-digit underdogs -- are very much alive as they again displayed their heroic heart. "Our guys just try hard," Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "This is kind of unexpected but it's neat." In between Iverson outbursts, Lue stymied the NBA Most Valuable Player for nearly 20 minutes, using his quickness to prevent Iverson from even getting the ball, let alone shoot it. He had spent the last two practices impersonating Iverson and apparently got pretty good at it. "I just try to deny him the ball as much as possible, because when he does get the ball, the best penetrator in the game is going to be hard to stop," Lue said. "We were trying to keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible." "He was holding me the whole time," Iverson said. But the third-year reserve let his guard down for just a second and it cost the Lakers. Iverson's two free throws pulled the Sixers within 99-98 with 1:46 remaining and the Lakers called a timeout. Lue drove and threw up a wild shot as he fell out of bounds. The Sixers rebounded and Iverson ran out in transition. With Lue nowhere in sight, he drilled a 3-pointer that gave Philadelphia the lead for good at 101-99 with 1:19 left. "That was really the knife that wounded us," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. Rick Fox spoiled a solid game by throwing away a pass and Iverson made a step-back baseline jumper for a 103-99 lead with 47 seconds to go. Kobe Bryant, who shot poorly and could not defend Iverson, hit a baseline jumper with 33 seconds to play. But Eric Snow, whose runner late in the fourth quarter saved the Sixers, made a similar shot to seal it with 10 seconds left. On the eve of his 26th birthday, Iverson made 18-of-41 shots and 9-of-9 free throws, adding six assists and five steals. Playing his first NBA Finals game, his explosion offset 44 points and 20 rebounds by Shaquille O'Neal as he won the duel between the league's last two MVPs. The Lakers rallied from a 15-point third-quarter deficit only to blow a five-point overtime lead as they lost for the first time since April 1, a span of 20 games. They had come into this series as huge favorites, having romped through the postseason with 11 straight wins by an average of more than 15 points. "I'm kind of relieved it's over in some ways but but it does put some pressure on us to get a win on our home court," Jackson said. "We've got to go out on Friday night and find a way to get this series tied up." The Sixers came in with no one expecting them to win a game, let alone the series. But they used their trademark toughness to do in just one game what the weak knees of the Western Conference could not do in 11 -- beat the Lakers. "They thought we were gonna get swept and that was like a slap in the face to us," Iverson said. Game Two is Friday at Los Angeles. Philadelphia is trying to knock off the defending champions and win its first title in 18 years. "Now it's a series," O'Neal said. However, Philadelphia may have to try a little harder. Guard Aaron McKie, who did a superb job of defending Bryant, suffered a chip fracture of his right ankle but is probable for Friday. Both Iverson and O'Neal abused a series of defenders. Iverson sent starter Derek Fisher to a permanent seat on the bench and also had his way with Bryant before Lue came on. "You can't take anything away from Tyronn Lue," Iverson admitted. "A lot of guys go out against a player that's named MVP of the regular season and won't give it his all, act like he's scared. But he gave his team a great lift." O'Neal met some resistance from Mutombo but manhandled Matt Geiger and Todd MacCulloch at the end of the third quarter. He made 17-of-28 shots but just 10-of-22 from the line. Most of O'Neal's offense came against single coverage from Dikembe Mutombo, who sat down with foul trouble for most of the third quarter but still contributed 13 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. His presence allowed Philadelphia to swarm to Bryant, who had an awful game with just 15 points, on 7-of-22 shooting, and six turnovers. "They got into Kobe's body, and bodied him on the dribble, stripped the ball when he picked it up," Jackson said. "He really didn't clear himself for shots very easily tonight." Snow scored 13 points and injury-hampered Matt Geiger provided an unexpected 10 for the Sixers, who shot 48 percent (40-of-83) and missed just two of 25 free throws, which came at the worst possible time. O'Neal's dunk off a feed from Bryant with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter gave the Lakers a 94-92 lead, their first since midway through the second period. Snow answered with his first running jumper and the Sixers had a chance to take the lead when Mutombo rebounded a miss by Snow and was fouled with 34 seconds to go. But he missed both after Philadelphia had hit its first 19 from the line. Bryant and Snow missed, sending it to overtime, where it looked like the Lakers were ready to win. O'Neal threw in a hook, Bryant spun for a layup and O'Neal split a pair from the line for a 99-94 lead. The Sixers looked dead when Raja Bell found himself trapped in the lane with the shot clock running down. But he pivoted and threw in a scoop shot with his left hand with 2:19 remaining, sparking the comeback. Fox scored 19 points for the Lakers, who were playing for the first time in 10 days and shot 44 percent (40-of-90). At the start, it looked like another Lakers landslide. A 16-0 burst capped by Bryant's first basket gave Los Angeles an 18-5 lead with 5 1/2 minutes to go -- and perhaps allowed complacency to set in. "We watched games that they played when they jumped out on guys and guys just packed it in and stopped playing," Iverson said. "But we've been like that before. We've been in games where we started off slow and ended up winning." Iverson scored 10 points in the rest of the period, then opened the second quarter with a jumper over Bryant for a 24-23 lead. The Lakers still held a 38-36 lead midway through the second quarter when Jackson was hit with a technical foul for arguing a non-call against Mutombo. Iverson made the foul shot, Geiger hit two jumpers to give the Sixers the lead at 41-40 and Iverson took over from there as he scored Philadelphia's last 15 points of the half, mostly off his trademark crossover dribble. His 3-pointer gave the Sixers a 56-48 advantage before O'Neal hammered home a miss by Bryant in the final second. At intermission, Iverson had 30 points on 11-of-24 shooting, lighting up Bryant, who was 2-of-10 for four points with five turnovers. "Allen really stepped it up," Brown said. "His first half was about as good as it gets." It continued in the third quarter, as Iverson fed Jumaine Jones for an alley-oop slam, sank a jumper and dropped a layup over O'Neal for a 64-54 lead. He took a steal in for a layup and hit a fading corner shot before Eric Snow's three-point play gave the Sixers their largest lead at 73-58 with 5:23 left. But with Mutombo on the bench, Philadelphia could not fight off O'Neal, who overpowered Geiger and MacCulloch and muscled Los Angeles back into it. He scored 14 points in the final 5:10 of the period, and with Lue shadowing Iverson, the Lakers pulled within 79-77 entering the final period. Philadelphia led by as many as seven points early in the fourth quarter, when Mutombo picked up his fifth foul and again sat down before returning less than a minute later as Geiger fouled out. Michael Jordan 1993 Finals: Gm 4 Vs. Suns, 55pts. This game still gives me chills watching it. MJ had that look that was beyond serious. After losing Game 3 in 3OTS, Kevin Johnson bragged about holding MJ to 44pts. Thus, MJ came out in Game 4 with a look of stoic madness. Becoming just the 5th player to score 50+ in the finals, he tied Rick Barry for 2nd highest all time in the Finals with 55 pts. But, the manner in which MJ played was just jaw-dropping - capped with a vicious last shot, MJ-style. Suns' coach Westphal said, "I don't think MJ could guard MJ. I'm as much in awe as everyone else. He's the best offensive and defensive PG ever, the best offensive and defensive SG ever, the best offensive and defensive SF, and he's probably top five at PF and C." Michael Jordan 1991 Finals: Gm 2 Vs. Lakers, 13 FGs in a Row In the 2nd Finals game of his career, MJ would produce the famous "Move". But how many remember that that shot was the 13th straight FG made in that game and an NBA finals record for most consecutive made FGs? MJ shot 15-18 for 33, 7rebs and 13asts for a most efficient game with the last shot coming in spectacular MJ fashion as usual. I remember when I saw it live, MJ was so good, I swore he did it on purpose to make the streak even more dramatic. Tags: Michael Jordan LA Lakers finals Magic Move Kobe Lebron Wade Shaq AI Tmac |

sAviOr vs Bisu @ MSL Finals (Game 3) March 03, 2007 GOMTV MSL Finals - Best of 5 Savior 0:2 Bisu - Game 3 Last week, Savior destroyed NaDa(T) 3-1 in the OSL Finals. As a result, he became the first person to reach 6 consecutive major league finals. Today, Savior is in the MSL Finals, playing for his 4th title against none other than Bisu(P) who has never even made an MSL appearance before. Savior's ZvP matchups have always been his forte, with an amazing win ratio of about 83%. But even that didn't stop Bisu from taking the first 2 games. Now in the third game, and with the score at 0-2, Bisu only needs to take one more game to claim his first MSL title. Map - Blitz X Savior - red zerg @ 1 Bisu - teal protoss @ 11 SPOILERS***** ............ ........... .......... ......... ........ ....... ...... ..... .... ... .. . . . . We have all witnessed many of Savior's matches, but the one matchup that mattered the most ended a bit differently. Bisu (especially for a protoss) did the unthinkable against the Maestro by crushing him 3-0, which was completely unexpected. This was like defeating Boxer or July in their prime. The following is an interview with Bisu after his win, translated by rinizim from teamliquid.net -You have won in your first attempt at MSL. ▶ I am so happy I have defeated the current 'bonjwa' Ma Jae Yoon. During New Year's holiday, (Kim) Dong Hyun Hyung really helped me a lot staying at the dorm the whole time. I would also like to thank all others who helped with my training. I did not focus too much on the Royal Road, since MSL never had one. I am surprised I have become the one to achieve Royal Road. -You crushed the opponent with 3:0. ▶During the training, I discovered a good build against Zerg. For that, I was also disheartened (when I lost during practice using this build), stumbling across thoughts like "I really can't lose like this tomorrow". I guess I was able to win, because Ma Jae Yoon chose builds that are relatively easy to deal with instead of difficult ones. No one else believed I'd win 3:0 except myself (smile). I think I showed them real good, winning it 3:0 (smile). -You are the youngest league champion in the history. ▶I am more happy I am the youngest league champion. I also feel pressured to make more new records, but nonetheless I will win more leagues making more and more records. -When did you think you can win the league? ▶After the first set, I thought I could win. Ma Jae Yoon seemed very tense. His coordinations (in critical situations) were not his usual responses. Also in third set, it seemed as if Ma Jae Yoon did not perform his fullest potential in his play. -How do you feel now as a champion? ▶I thought (Park) Sung Joon Hyung was really cool when he won a league last time. At that time, I thought 'I want to stand on that pedestal'. Having won a league, I can now understand the exuberance Sung Joon hyung must have felt at the time. I will carry this on to catch up to Sungjoon hyung's championship career. -Were you not particularly nervous, because it was Ma Jae Yoon? ▶Undoubtedly, I was very pressured. Not to mention he is the 'Bonjwa', but also he is so dominant against Protoss. So I had to think "he is a mere Zerg', and for that I was able to win. -We heard your winning ratio was very good in training. ▶The win lose ratio in training is just a ratio and no more. I think winning many practice games does not result in performing well in broadcasted matches. -Your use Dark Templars were exceptional. ▶The nuclei of today's strategy was the Dark Templar. Across many practice games, Dark Templar seemed to work the best. It is really efficient because it can kill a drone in single slash. From now, the use of Dark Templar will be more frequent. My Dark Templars will be unpredictable. They will pop out of nowhere. They should start being cautious of my Dark Templars now. -You have clearly proved wrong the postulate that your gameplay might be worsened because of the vacation the team took. ▶I didn't think too much of it. But, people around me worried very much. I took a relaxing vacation taking time off, and Ma Jae Yoon was not able to have any rest going through finals after finals. I think I won because of that. -What did coach say after the second set? ▶After the second set, he ordered me to "empty my mind as if this is your first match". I think the game played out more smoothly because of that. -What did your parents say? ▶I tend not to talk much before any match. So, they didn't say anything before the match. After the match, they encouraged me that I have done well. -What is your 2007 season's goal? ▶Just as I have said it before, I lacked in confidence. From now on, I will display myself more confidently. I will not lose in matches. I found much confidence due to this championship. I will continue to win more leagues based on this (new found) confidence. Tags: Starcraft Broodwar GOMTV MSL Final Finals Savior IPXZerg Bisu Zerg Protoss Blitz |

Team Osaka played with one goalie and one field player while NimbRo used two field players. The Osaka robots were very quick to approach the ball and to kick it across the field. The NimbRo robots excelled in one-on-one fights for the ball and also demonstrated nice team play. The exciting game was open until the end. The final score was 8:6 for NimbRo. They performed to a wonderful mix of hip hop, which included "Bebot" by the Black Eyed Peas. Jungee Marcelo, then the acting coach of all three Philippine teams entered into the competition, got to wave the red, white, blue, and gold Philippine flag in victory (not shown in this video but in a separate video). Ever OSL 2008 Finals - July vs Best - Set 4+5 EVER 2008 OSL Finals Commentary by Moletrap, Klazart, and Cholera Game 4: July - purple Z 5 BeSt - blue P 10 Map: Hwarangdo Game 5: July - orange Z 7 BeSt - teal P 2 Map: Othello Winner Interview: - You obtained the Golden Mouse by winning 3 finals ▲I have previously states in my previous interviews that with wins comes the Golden Mouse. I have not tried to win in order to obtain the golden mouse. It is actually the same thing but I believe the meaning is different. Anyways I tried my best and I am happy that I won. -You showed very fear some all-in strategies ▲My belief in best of 5 series is not skill but your mind. That is why I 5-pooled in my first game. I have lost 0:3 in my 2 previous finals through all-in strategies by the opponents. Because of those attacks I remember I was unable to focus. That is why I used it against my opponents this time - You showed very strong match ups against protoss ▲Because I am a zerg player I believe I am strong against Protoss. I have always been strong against protoss. Although I said I was confident in winning 3:0 I really wasn't (laughs). I believe I am strong against protoss because of my confidence. -In your 3rd match Andromeda weren't you at a disadvantage? ▲I was not really at a disadvantage. I was able to kill corsairs easily with scourages. I just patrolled my scourages but the corsairs suicided into my scourage. If the protoss has many corsairs it is hard to defeat them. I made many more scourages since corsairs are scarier than reavers. -You attempted a drone-drill in game 2 ▲I prepared for game 1 and 3 and did not really prepare for game 2,4, or 5. I lost too many times in maps for game 2,4, and 5. In game 2 of Best vs Luxury, Best's build was very weak towards the drone drill. This is why I used the strategy. -During your stay in SK Telecom your record against best was 5:5 ▲During that time the 5:5 record would be the result of normal games. If Best played if it were normal games today, I probably would not have won easily. However, today was the Finals where mind-control was very important, which is the reason why I believe I won. -Because of your 2 waivers, you had a rough time. ▲There were many unfortunate events. I thought of quitting programming at an early age. However, my parents told me "It isn't the time yet, try a bit more". After moving to STX, the coaches and the players treated me very well. I quickly befriended my teammates and played numerous games with them. STX is a very nice, the coaching staff isn't bad as the rumors. I think my personality fits with the team. -People say you were lucky with the lack of terrans in this season ▲To tell you the truth I think I really was lucky. To be a zerg and not meet any terrans is already accomplishing half of your goals. However, to the people who believe I won the OSL because of luck is like insulting the players I have beaten. The players I have beater were players who have beaten terran players. To insult me is like insulting the players I have beaten. I still think that I was lucky. -You have good jinx of winning when it is hot ▲I play well when my hand is sweating. That is why I turn off the air-conditioner in the booth when I play. Because my play is better when it is hot, I believe my records are better too during the summer. I was able to win during the month of July(laughs) -You are the first STX member to win ▲STX does not pressure me on bit. They tell me to relax and play like how I always play. Since the 3 months I been in the team, they have not pressured me one bit. They have not forced me to play, and all my practices were voluntarily. This also helps me to become a better player. -Your next season's goal ▲Confidence is always the best. However if you lose horribly after winning, it becomes a troublesome situation. First, I want to beat a lot of terran players. In the next selection, I would like to pick the strongest terran. However, I cannot pick my teammate Hwasin. I have lost too many times to Hwasin, and his TvZ match-up is too good. -Your last words ▲My next goal is to win tomorrows Proleague playoff game. I will practice harder to win the proleague and also try to win next season's OSL. Although I have won, I do not think I am the best. It is different from what I previously thought. I believe I have more to learn and try to win next season. I will be perfect if I win next season. My ultimate goal is to be recognized with players such Boxer and NaDa. Michael Jordan 1991 Finals: Gm 1 Vs. LA Lakers, 36pts MJ's very first Finals game started off with a bang. With the Magic Vs. Michael theme being the dream storyline the world wanted, all eyes were on MJ to see if he could knock out the Champ to be the Champ. Game 1 was an almost perfect performance from The Master as he dominated on both ends of the floor -- scoring his customary and efficient 36 on 14-24 shooting while simultaneously guarding Magic the majority of the time. Although Magic's greatness squeaked him a triple double with 19pts, 10 rebs and 11 asts, MJ's maniacal perimeter-post defense allowed him only 5 shots the entire game. The Bulls however played with nervous energy and the experienced Lakers team kept a close lead throughout the game. MJ switched on his heroics with the use of the 'now dead' stop-and-pop jumper and a supreme, leftward-perimeter-post-fade to eke out a lead in the crucial moments. But, an amazing three pointer by Perkins meant MJ had to do it again. MJ's game-tying attempt was a beautiful shake to offer a clean jumper but to everyone's disbelief, the ball went in and out. And although it was a rare miss by the game's greatest ever clutch player, I remember my close friend from school saying the next day, "That last shot - even his misses are amazing." No need to argue that. Kudos to Scottie's amazing shot at the buzzer as well. (The rest of this series is uploaded in succession except Game 2 which was uploaded last year. You can find it here www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBseRlgoSLc For the record, MJ would end the series with some preposterous numbers: 31.2ppg, 6.6 rebs, 11.4 assists, 2.8 steals, 1.4 blocks, 56.64% FG, 50% 3FG and 85% FT). hoopsencyclopedia.blogspot.com Tags: Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Lakers Bulls Finals Worthy Pippen Championship MJ Shaq Lebron Wade Kobe AI Howard Mayo Paul |

NBA 1991 finals Game 5 "Lakers - Bulls" (part 2 of 2) Final minutes of the 1991 NBA finals Game 5 "Lakers - Bulls" The Bulls would defeat the Lakers in 4 games to 1. This would ultimately turn out to be Magic Johnson's last NBA Finals appearance, who was without James Worthy and Byron Scott, the Laker's #2 and #3 scorers, in the final game. Thus, the only win for the Lakers came in Game 1 when Sam Perkins (Michael Jordan's former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill teammate) hit the game winning 3 point shot. Later in the final seconds, Jordan's chance for a game-winner rattled out. Other memorable moments came when Jordan shot 15 of 18 from the floor in Game 2 including a layup when, attempting to dunk, avoided a potential Sam Perkins block by switching hands in midair and laying the ball up with his left. The play became so popular that it would come to be known as "The Move" (in Chicago). Jordan also sent Game 3 (a game the Bulls eventually won) to overtime with a game tying jumper, a first of many such heroics for him on the NBA's greatest stage. Michael Jordan unanimously won his first NBA Finals MVP award (to go with his regular season MVP award and his fifth straight scoring title), and wept while holding his first NBA Finals trophy.
