Main theme tune from "Is Paris Burning ?" (1966) End segment and theme music for the 1966 movie "Is Paris Burning ?" All about the final days of the German occupation of Paris in August of 1944. Includes appearances by Glenn Ford, Robert Stack, Kirk Douglas, Orson Welles, Anthony Perkins, French actress Leslie Caron, and Gert Frobe (from "Goldfinger" )as the German General given the task of defending Paris - or destroying it ! I was reading some reviews on the movie, and one of the review headings was - "Will Goldfinger burn Paris ?" (chuckle). "Goldfinger" also appeared in the 1962 epic "The Longest Day" (as a German soldier). Gert Frobe died in 1988. The very catchy theme music has a distinct French flavour to it, and was composed and conducted by Maurice Jarre,( who also composed the music for "The Longest Day" ). There is some actual film footage at the end of the movie showing General de Gaulle entering Paris in August 1944, after the official German surrender of the city. The aerial footage of Paris was filmed in 1966, and centres on Notre Dame cathedral, the side view of which appears more impressive than the front view. The bell seen at the beginning of the clip is, of course, the famous Notre Dame bell. It weighs almost 13 tonnes. Being an ardent pipesmoker myself, I could not keep from bursting out with laughter when I started to notice that I wasn't paying any attention at all any more to the scene and the action but became totally occupied by the continuous clouds of drifting smoke. The abundant smoking in this scene is almost a sub-story line. Smoking & Pipe smoking on film: Doktor Mabuse (2/2) Another clip from 'Die 1000 Augen des Dr. Mabuse', Germany, 1960, starring Gerd Frobe as Kommissar Krass, again at an 'important' meeting. Probably very important as the smoking becomes more vehement compared to the first clip. Pay special attention to the shots of the non-smoking participants, interspersed with streams of smoke passing by from and in various directions. Most spectacular are the shots with full room view in which small sudden explosions of smoke resemble those natural geysers which let off steam at regular intervals. At some moments there is so much smoke that it looks as if the room is on fire. Ingfried Hoffman is a German Organ Player who did a lot of good stuff in the sixties but is kinda forgotten nowadays, even on his home turf. Ahrensburg im Fernsehen - Teil 2: Der grüne Bogenschütze Von Oktober 1960 bis Januar 1961 wurde in Ahrensburg der Edgar Wallace-Film "Der grüne Bogenschütze" gedreht. Kinostart war am 2. Februar 1961. Inhalt: Auf dem alten Schloß Garre Castle in der Nähe Londons ist der Amerikaner Abel Bellamy eingezogen, der eine dunkle Vergangenheit hat. Das Gerücht geht um, daß ein grüner Bogenschütze dort sein Unwesen treibt. Tatsächlich fallen einige Menschen seinen tödlichen Pfeilen zum Opfer. Nicht nur Featherstone von Scotland Yard untersucht den Fall, auch Bellamys hübsche Nichte Valerie stellt Nachforschungen an. Sie ist auf der Suche nach ihrer verschwundenen Mutter, von der Bellamy behauptet, sie sei tot. In Wirklichkeit hält er sie auf seinem Schloß gefangen. Da Bellamy die Anwesenheit von Valerie lästig wird, läßt er sie von einem seiner Handlanger kidnappen. Auch Featherstone tappt in die Falle... Als Außenkulisse für Schloß Garre Castle diente das Ahrensburger Schloß. Die Innenaufnahmen wurden jedoch zum größten Teil in den Studios von Studio Hamburg gedreht. In dem Film fällt auf, daß das Schloß 1961 keinen Wassergraben besaß. Dieser war von 1759 bis 1983 zugeschüttet. Das Ahrensburger Schloß wurde von 1570 bis 1585 erbaut. Auch der Marstall nicht unweit des Schlosses diente dem Film als Kulisse für das Gästehaus. Im Film leider nicht mehr zu sehen ist das alte Torhaus des Schlosses. Dieses wurde wenige Monate vor den Dreharbeiten abgerissen. Weitere Szenen des Filmes wurden unter anderem im Hamburger Hafen und auf der Binnenalster gedreht. In Ahrensburg wurden außerdem noch einige Szenen zu weiteren Wallace-Filmen gedreht. So diente das Ahrensburger Schloß im selben Jahr auch dem Film "Die seltsame Gräfin" als Außenkulisse und einige Szenen aus dem Film "Die toten Augen von London" wurden hinter der Schloßkirche gedreht.
