here! Focus: GLSEN GLSEN is an organization committed to fostering respect and acceptance among students across the country. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network is the launching pad for Gay/Straight Alliances throughout the nation's high schools and colleges. Their mission is to ensure safety for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. GLSEN currently sponsors the National Day of Silence in which students take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies. By supporting students, GLSEN is able to work towards limiting the levels of discrimination and harassment that occur in our nation's school system. As well, GLSEN establishes safe spaces for students to unite to educate and enlighten their whole community. Tags: here! Day of Truth (Anti-gay Community) Anti GLSEN Slavic protest On March 6th, 2006 hundreds of Slavic Christians from Sacramento protested the pro-Sodomite "Queer Youth Advocacy Day" at the Capitol. Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill later on in the year. The video was also taking place, while the gay parade in Sacramento was going on, and the Christians were there to protest. There was also short version of a clip of where student's are sitting in the San Juan High School library. Students came to school wearing T-shirts that had Bible Verses on them (1 Corinthians, 6:9-10) on the Day of Truth. They basically had Bible verses on them that clearly state that homosexuality is sin. They were asked to remove there shirts or face disciplinary action. About 30-40 students that kept those T-shirts on got suspended. Tags: sacramento gay protest sodomite QYAD ab606 christian anti glsen san juan high school day of truth silence slavic russian |

Day of Silence Note: This is my first video, so go easy on me! =P Day of Silence is a day of silent protest held by GLSEN, the Gay Lesbian Straight Network, an organization which "envisions a future in which every child learns to respect all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression." Day of Silence is meant to raise awareness about harassment, bullying, and name-calling towards LGBT students. This year's Day of Silence is held in the memory of Lawrence King, an 8th grade student from California who was shot and killed due to his sexual orientation. Day of Silence will be on April 25th, and all are welcome to participate. For more information about Day of Silence and gay activism, check out: www.dayofsilence.org www.glsen.org Thanks for watching! Save Spashley! A Save Spashley video that recounts the ups and downs of Spencer & Ashley's relationship and urges The N not to get rid of one of the few TV shows with leading gay characters. Statistics come from GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) and GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). Music is "Weep Not for the Memories" by Seamus Egan. This was much longer than I intended it to be, so over the next couple weeks I am going to try to put out a few short 30 sec - 1 minute Save Spashley vids.
