HQ video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfGq5RkiHRI&fmt=18 type: &fmt=18 after the video url to get hq video Don't blame luke walton ,the lakers should have never been in such situation. It's not luke's fault. The grizzlies have the worst road record in the nba, and the 3rd worst record overall in the nba. They come to staples center and beat the lakers. Kobe bryant was the only one who showed up for the game. Lamar odom has flu like symptoms, he was sick. Derek fisher had problems with his leg and is playing through injury. no pau gasol, no andrew bynum . lakers had no interior defense nor interior offense. Lakers took 45 3pt shot attempts. lakers franchise record. It is just horrible. Kobe was on fire, he had 34 pts at halftime and 47 points after 3 quarters. The grizzlies were double teaming him in the last minutes of the 4th quarter, he passed the ball but the other players could not make a shot . sasha vujacic and ronny turiaf both had very bad shooting nights . lamar odom had only 2 points. Lakers just gave so many layups. no defense at all. It just sucks to loose to such a bad team . but the lakers did not show up for the game, and the grizzlies deserved the win. kobe bryant had his 23rd 50+point game in his career. 92nd 40+point game in his career. kobe also set the lakers franchise record with 1060 3pt field goals made. kobe raised his ppf career avg to 25pts per game , tied 11th all time with karl malone lakers play wizards next on sunday at staples center. Meet the Grizzlies! Hearst Grizzly Gulch opens June 14th, 2007. Ever since San Francisco Zoo keeper Deb Cano was a little girl, she was fascinated by animals. So much, that as a young girl, and even still today, her dad would call her "animal." Growing up just a few minutes away from the Zoo in Daly City, Cano developed a deep passion in caring for wildlife, as she surrounded herself with dogs, cats and horses. Her enthusiasm for animals would eventually lead her to a profession that she proudly describes as "my home away from home." Today, the veteran keeper is responsible for the care and health of the Zoo's polar bears, spectacled bears, Siberian and Sumatran tigers, snow leopards, fishing cats, ocelots, a river otter and our beloved grizzly bear sisters. Allen Iverson Highlight vs Memphis Grizzlies Melo's Return Melo, A.I. take turns drubbing Grizzlies in Anthony's return Allen Iverson raced downcourt and floated an alley-oop lob that Carmelo Anthony shoved one-handed through the hoop for an arena-rattling jam, one that seemed to holler to all their doubters, "Take that!" "We just wanted to show the whole world we could play together," Anthony said after the duo's triumphant debut Monday night. "We know there's a lot of doubt about that." Anthony scored 28 points in his return from a 15-game suspension for fighting and Iverson added 23 in the Denver Nuggets' 115-98 rout of the Memphis Grizzlies. The two are out to prove two superstars can coexist. So far, so very, very good. Allen Iverson 32pts 12asts clutch FT vs Grizzlies NBA 07/08 Trailing by seven points with 3:12 left, the Denver Nuggets didn't panic. They made veteran plays. The Memphis Grizzlies were hurt by their youth. Allen Iverson had 32 points and 12 assists Wednesday night, and the Nuggets used a late run to beat the Grizzlies 106-102. "This was a big win for us at somebody else's home," Iverson said. "Down seven points with 3 minutes to go. It was a gut check for us. I think a game like this is going to help us down the road." Elias Says Allen Iverson posted his own kind of triple double on Wednesday, leading the Nuggets to a win over Memphis by shooting 11-of-26 from the floor, 10-of-12 from the line and adding 12 assists. It was only the fourth regulation (non-overtime) game in the NBA this season in which a player had double-digit field goals, free throws and assists. Iverson also did it on Dec. 6, as did Joe Johnson (Nov. 14) and Dwyane Wade (Dec. 7). • Read more Elias Says Memphis had built its lead with a 6-0 run after Rudy Gay's 11-footer with 3:12 left, before Denver answered with a 12-0 spurt to seize control. Iverson made all six of his free throws in the final 23.2 seconds, helping the Nuggets snap a six-game road losing streak that included losses at Dallas and New Orleans at the start of the three-game road trip. "It was definitely important," Denver center Marcus Camby said. "We got our butts kicked the other night down in New Orleans against a great team. We wanted to salvage the rest of this three-game road trip. "We had to stop the losing streak." Anthony Carter finished with 18 points, five during the decisive rally, while Linas Kleiza added 15 for the Nuggets. Camby had 13 points and 19 rebounds. Gay led Memphis with 30 points and 10 rebounds, and Mike Miller contributed 22 points. Kyle Lowry scored 19 and Darko Milicic finished with 14 points and matched his career high with 16 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have lost four of five. "It's the same story as before," Milicic said. "[We] just can't find ways to win." Both teams were short-handed. The Nuggets were without Carmelo Anthony, the league's fourth-leading scorer, who missed his fifth game with a left ankle sprain. That, and previous injuries to guard Chucky Atkins and forward Nene, left Denver with 10 players dressed. Memphis had one less because of injuries to guard Mike Conley and Pau Gasol, the team's second-leading scorer and leading rebounder. Also, forward Stromile Swift was suspended for the game after an exchange with Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni in Monday's loss to Dallas. Denver's rally came from missed shots and a pair of turnovers from the Grizzlies. Camby blocked his fifth shot of the night during the stretch, and the Nuggets used their defense to turn the game. "Unfortunately, we were our own worst enemies with the turnovers once again and not getting back well against a very, very good fast-break team," Iavaroni said. While Memphis held a 51-39 advantage on the boards, Denver dominated the paint 60-40. Iverson did everything possible to carry the Nuggets in the first half, scoring 21 points and handing out seven assists as Denver took a 54-52 lead into the locker room. Denver committed seven turnovers in the opening quarter, and neither team seemed to be in a rhythm offensively. Memphis missed nine of 10 3-point attempts in the half and both teams had nine turnovers at the break. There was poor ballhandling, wayward passes and mouthing about calls and no-calls. At one point in the second quarter, Iverson opted out of a breakaway layup for a pass to J.R. Smith, who blew a reverse dunk. The next time down the floor, Smith misfired on a second slam, which Miller converted into a 20-foot jumper. The Nuggets picked up their shooting touch in the second quarter and erased an early 11-point Memphis lead. They finished the night shooting 51 percent. The teams stayed close in the second half, including a handful of ties in the third quarter. Miller scored eight points in the first 3 minutes of the period. Meanwhile, Iverson missed all seven of his shots, and Memphis carried a 78-73 lead into the final quarter. "I got real good shots in the second half. The same shots I got in the first half," Iverson said. "I just went ice cold." Camby said the difference in the final rally was converting on offense. "We just knew if we kept being aggressive, shots were going to fall," Camby said. "Guys were missing a lot of easy shots throughout the ballgame that they normally make. "We just knew we needed to get a consecutive streak of defensive stops in order for us to take the lead." Toronto Raptors vs Memphis Grizzlies Nov.2807 T.J. Ford was on the bench in street clothes and Chris Bosh had long since limped to the locker-room with a groin strain when the Toronto Raptors surged ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies for good Wednesday. The injury-depleted Raptors displayed the depth of their roster once again en route to a 103-91 win over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. ``That's our strength, especially with such a long season, so many things can happen,'' said Anthony Parker. Parker finished with 19 points to top Toronto (8-7), which used a balanced attack to beat the struggling Grizzlies, with seven players scoring in double figures. Jose Calderon added 13 points and 10 assists and committed just one turnover while Carlos Delfino and Jason Kapono scored 14 apiece. Andrea Bargnani finished with 11, while Rasho Nesterovic pitched in with 10. Chris Bosh had 10 points before leaving the game in the second quarter with a strained right groin, the one negative on the night. Bosh said he'd hurt his groin a day earlier in practice. ``I was just trying to get going,'' said the all-star forward. ``Usually it's one of those things that when you get warm, you don't feel it. But it was a little painful making certain cuts, so I decided to take it easy. ``I'm sure after a good rest tomorrow and good treatment, I'll be ready to go Friday (when the Raptors host Cleveland).'' Juan-Carlos Navarro led the Grizzlies (5-10) with 15 points, while Pau Gasol had 13. Toronto outshot and outhustled the Grizzlies all night, blowing open the game with a second-quarter performance that saw them outscore their visitors 30-10. ``I think that's when they brought in their second unit, and I don't think there's really a dropoff when we bring anybody off the bench,'' Parker said. Toronto led by as much as 28 points in the third and took an 82-60 lead into the fourth quarter at the Air Canada Centre. The Grizzlies cut Toronto's advantage to 14 points on three-pointer by Tarence Kinsey with 1:51 left, but the game was well decided by that point. ``We were too stationary, we stood a lot, we weren't efficient and that's when they made their run and broke open the game,'' said Gasol. The Raptors also lost Bargnani with about 10 minutes to go in the game, when he banged knees with Stromile Swift. ``Now is better than when I was coming off the court, so we'll see tomorrow,'' Bargnani said. Calderon continues to fill in seamlessly for Ford, who missed his fourth straight game with an arm injury. Calderon has just two turnovers in his last three games _ and his lone giveaway Wednesday came just before he was subbed off, when Parker let a pass slip through his fingers. ``A.P. is killing me,'' Calderon joked afterwards. ``I just want to publicly apologize for the last turnover,'' Parker said. ``I dropped it.'' It wasn't all bad news on the injury front. Nesterovic played his first game after missing five with an ankle injury, and his size up front was certainly appreciated when both Bosh and Bargnani went out. The Raptors shot 51 per cent on the night, while holding the Grizzlies to 39 per cent, and Toronto outrebounded the visitors 46-38. ``We got to their shooters, we didn't let those guys get hot and get going and we did a good job on Pau Gasol,'' said Raptors coach Sam Mitchell. With four Spaniards on the two rosters, the game was billed as ``Spanish Night.'' The game was broadcast live in Spain, and some two dozen Spanish journalists were in attendance. Calderon and Jorge Garbajosa make up Toronto's Spanish contingent, while the Grizzlies have Gasol and Navarro. Garbajosa, though, is out indefinitely with surgery pending on the ankle he injured last March that ended his rookie season prematurely. The Grizzlies led 29-27 at the end of a first quarter that saw seven lead changes. Delfino led the way with 14 points in the second quarter and Toronto took an 18-point lead late in the frame on a Parker jump shot. The Raptors shot 68 per cent and held the Grizzlies to a woeful 16 per cent shooting in the quarter, and Toronto was up 57-39 at the break. The Raptors stretched their lead to 79-51 on a driving dunk by Parker with 4:21 left and left 82-60 with a quarter left to play. NOTES: The Raptors defeated the Grizzlies at Memphis last week. . . The game was the second of a three-game homestand. The Raptors host Cleveland on Friday, then play the Wizards at Washington on Saturday. Tags: Toronto Raptors vs Memphis Grizzlies Nov.2807 |

Kobe Bryant 56 points in 34 minutes vs Grizzlies 2001-02 January 14th, 2002 Staples Center Los Angeles, CA Boxscore: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200201140LAL.html Statline: 56 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 21-34 FG, 3-6 3pt Earlier in the day, Shaquille O'neal was suspended for 3 games for throwing a punch at Chicago Bulls center Brad Miller. Before the game, Bryant took responsibility for the losses in the previous games as Phil wanted him take less shots. Bryant said he'd make up for the earlier losses in the Grizzlies game. He sure did respond. Kobe scored 18 1st quarter points on a dazling array of jumpshots, dunks, and drives. His nifty footwork was also on display as he made every move in the book possible. He split doubles, made scoops, and destroyed the defense of Shane Battier, a 3 time defensive player of the year at Duke. He went berserk in the 3rd quarter. He had 42 points with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd. His 3rd quarter was so demorilizing, the Grizzlies had 14 points in the quarter. He topped the quarter off with 2 threes, a behind the back jumpshot, a double pump dunk, and another turnaround jumpshot. After 3, he had nearly outscored the Grizzlies by himself scoring 56 points to the Grizzlies 59, a stat many people forget. Although he didn't play in the 4th, his 56 in 34 minutes is still one of his most tantalizing performances up to date. It's amazing to think of how memorizing this performance could've been had he played in the 4th and the 2 extra minutes. 80 is not out of the question as he scored 18 in the 1st, 18 in the 2nd, and 20 in the 3rd. It was also the NBA's season high for points as he scored 3 more than Tim Duncan did that season. In the game, Kobe put up 56 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and on 21-34 shooting, 3-6 from downtown, and going to the line 12 times. Grizzlies - Suns 111-132 [Gay 20pts vs Stoudemire 29pts] Look at Suns' bench at 0:30!! PHOENIX, March 11, 2008 (AP) - Nothing like a rout to pump up the growing confidence of the new-look Phoenix Suns. Amare Stoudemire scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 30 minutes, and the Suns beat the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth time in a row, 132-111 on Tuesday night. Raja Bell added 20 points, including 18 in the third quarter, for the Suns. Gordan Giricek scored 18, his best output since coming to Phoenix on March 4, as did Leandro Barbosa, and Grant Hill had 17. The Suns, who shot 60 percent, led by as many as 32 in the first half and 39 in the second to win consecutive games for the first time since Shaquille O'Neal joined the lineup 11 games ago. "We're just scratching the surface of how good we can be,'' Stoudemire said. Rudy Gay, who scored a career-best 36 when the teams met in Memphis on Feb. 26, led the Grizzlies with 20. "They've definitely adjusted,'' Gay said of the Suns' improvement since that last meeting. "They're playing well with each other, and they're lethal when they do that.'' Memphis, opening a three-game road trip, lost its 15th straight away from home and 17th in its last 19 overall. On the heels of its 94-87 victory over San Antonio on Sunday, Phoenix climbed within a game of New Orleans for the No. 5 playoff spot in the tight Western Conference. New Orleans, however, owns the tiebreaker. "You feed off each other and the team feels good about themselves right now,'' Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Before, even when we had a big victory and came back and were flat, it was hard to understand sometimes. But there's some good stuff in the dressing room and some good stuff going on, and they're starting to believe it.'' The Suns improved to 5-6 since O'Neal came to the team, with two of those victories against Memphis. O'Neal had two points and eight rebounds and six assists in 17 minutes. His only shot was a rebound basket with 7:45 to go in the third quarter. "He didn't have a point the first half, but I thought he controlled the whole game,'' D'Antoni said. Steve Nash cautioned that the Suns are far from a polished product, though. "Yeah, we're growing,'' he said. "We have a lot of work to do. I don't think we should get too excited over it, but we are starting to see improvement. We are starting to see progress, and I think everyone's confidence is going to grow if we continue to grow like this.'' The Suns had their running game going early and often, mounting a 25-5 run to go up 41-20 on Barbosa's three-point play on a fastbreak with 22.5 seconds to go in the first. Hill and Stoudemire each scored 13 in the quarter. It only got worse for Memphis and first-year coach Marc Iavaroni, who was the top assistant to D'Antoni before taking the Grizzlies' job. Iavaroni credited the Suns' effort but thought his team could have put up a better fight. "We're going through some rebuilding times right now and our concentration is suffering because it's difficult with 20 games to go, 19 now, to really have something hard to play for,'' he said. A 12-0 run put Phoenix ahead 64-32 on Nash's 12-footer with 4:13 left in the half. Phoenix ended the half with their 20th fastbreak point on a pass from Bell to Barbosa for a layup with 4.1 seconds to go. The Suns led 72-41 at the break. Phoenix had a 20-1 advantage in fastbreak points and 46-20 in points in the paint. The lead twice reached 39 in the third quarter, at 98-59 and 100-61, the largest Suns lead and biggest Memphis deficit this season. The biggest thrill of the night came when O'Neal went barreling toward the Suns bench in pursuit of a loose ball. The players and assistant coaches, remembering O'Neal's leap into the third row of seats against the Spurs, scattered like frightened pigeons. "It was probably the highlight of the game,'' Hill said. Kobe Bryant 60 points vs Grizzlies 2006-07 50+ point streak 3rd game of 4 consecutive 50+ point games Kobe Bryant came off 2 consecutive 50+ point games, a 65 point game against Portland and 50 points against the Timberwolves, combined for 115 points. If he scored 50+ in the next game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he would become only the 4th player in NBA history to record 3 consecutive 50+ point games and hold at least the 4th greatest point total in a 3 game span(last 40 years). All eyes were on him in the next game vs the Grizzlies. The Memphis Grizzlies were determined not to let history happen throwing hard doubles, zones, and throwing multiple defenders on him from the start of the game. They had their work cut out by Bryant's scoring abilities, slick footwork, and his aggressive nature. "At one point, we got the offensive rebound and (had) a whole new 24-second (shot clock) left," Jackson said. "Lamar (Odom) gave the ball right back to him and Kobe went right back at them. He just smells blood in the water and he's going to go after you." After starting the game 0-3, 5 of his next 6 shots and 10 of 19 in the 1st half scoring 24 points. In the 3rd and 4th quarters, Bryant held the Grizzlies hopeless as even their hardest doubles and traps off the ball couldn't stop greatness unfold. Kobe put up a full display of his dunks, jumpshots, fadeaways, floaters, layups, and his hunger on the court scoring 19 in the 3rd and 16 in the 4th as he went on to put up one of the masterful road performances of all time by any player. Bryant shot 20-37 from the field, 3-7 from 3s, and 17-18 from the free throw line as he helped lead to a 121-119 win that should've been a much bigger win. After the game in an interview and after he was asked if he would score 50 in the next game(the very next day, 2nd game of a back to back), he laughed. He put up 50 the next game separating himself from everyone, even the great Michael Jordan, and putting himself into a class only Wilt Chamberlain had journeyed through. GRIZZLIES@LAKERS kobe 56 pts in 3 periods (2002) Kobe Bryant never has been better. Bryant poured in a career-high 56 points in just 34 minutes as the Los Angeles Lakers rebounded from an embarrassing loss with Monday's 120-81 rout of the Memphis Grizzies. Bryant became the focal point of the Lakers offence once Shaquille O'Neal was suspended for three games earlier in the day. The 23-year-old superstar responded with a tantalizing hightlight-reel performance. Playing just the first three quarters, Bryant made 21-of-34 shots from the field and 11-of-12 free throws, surpassing his previous high of 51 points, accomplished on Dec. 5, 2000 against the Golden State Warriors. Bryant also established an NBA season high for points in a game, three more than Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs had on Dec. 26. In his dominating effort, Bryant nearly singlehandedly outscored the Grizzlies through three quarters. Continue Article Los Angeles led 98-59 entering the final period. Bryant did most of his damage against Grizzlies rookie Shane Battier, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year at Duke. Bryant had a combined 49 points in two previous meetings against Memphis this season. The Lakers, who lost at Memphis in December, rolled to their most lopsided win of the season and led by as many as 42 points in the fourth quarter. O'Neal was suspended for throwing a vicious punch at Chicago's Brad Miller in the Lakers' 106-104 overtime loss to the Bulls -- the NBA's worst team -- on Saturday. Rookie Pau Gasol netted 25 points to lead the Grizzlies, who fell to 0-14 all time in Los Angeles and 2-24 overall against the Lakers Tags: kobe bryant 50 points lakers grizzlies |
