(July 14)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] With the maker of the King of Beers agreeing to go to work for the Belgian brewer InBev, the mood on the streets of St. Louis was anything but happy. [Notes:MOS MOS MOS]"I THINK ITS A HORRIBLE MOVE ON ANHEISER-BUSCH'S PART." "IT DISGUSTS ME""ITS A HAPPY DAY IN BELGIUM., ITS A SAD DAY FOR ST. LOUIS. Anheuser-Busch said it had agreed to a sweetened $52 billion takeover bid from InBev, creating the world's largest brewer. For InBev, the deal gives an aggressive company the iconic Budweiser brand to sell into emerging markets. But for St. Louisans, the Belgian brewer's buyout left a bitter taste in their mouths. [Notes:SOT: Kyle Bone] I THINK IT'S A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS THAT OUR DOLLAR'S FALLEN SO MUCH THAT FOREIGN COMPANIES CAN COME IN AND PICK OFF STANDARD AMERICAN COMPANIES LEFT AND RIGHT AND THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. InBev said it plans to use St. Louis as its North American headquarters, and will keep open all 12 of Anheuser-Busch's North American breweries. Still, the locals are worried about the effect on the local economy.SOTSOTBut when to comes to drinking beer, the mood is that the Anhesier-Busch brand will stand on its own, despite the new owner.SOT ___ ___, The Associated Press. Shamu for Sale: Anheuser-Busch, InBev, and the future of SeaWorld Anheuser-Busch announced on the evening of July 13, 2008 that it would the company to Belgian brewing company, InBev, for $52 Billion. While Budweiser shall remain a brand owned by InBev, it doesn't look as good for Shamu and all his friends at SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, and Aquatica, and the more than 20,000 employees who work for Busch Entertainment Corporation, the entertainment subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Inc. The entertainment division of the company is estimated to be worth about $3 Billion, which narrows down the list of potential buyers. One would assume either Disney, Universal Studios, or Six Flags are the future buyers. Six Flags has a large amount of debt, Disney isn't in the business of marine parks, and Universal has a hard enough time getting funding from NBC as it is. The purchase isn't expected to be completed until the end of the year. Given the ill state of the tourism industry and even sicker economy, who knows if this is a realistic goal. SeaWorld recently raised their admission to $70 per ticket, which is the equivalent of one share of the new Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Anheuser-Busch bought the parks nearly 20 years ago from Harcourt Brace Jovanovich for $1.1 Billion. It is estimated that InBev will get between $3-4 Billion for Busch Entertainment Corp. SeaWorld announced earlier this year that it will be building a resort island in Dubai, United Arab Emirates that will include a SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, and Aquatica. If you have any questions about SeaWorld or Anheuser-Busch, please post them! Tags: Shamu Anheuser Busch Budweiser SeaWorld Orca Killer Whale Gardens Aquatica InBev Beer Business Attack |

Investing and Trading: Week in Review - Inbev vs. BUD My Daily Blog is at: http://investorandtrader.blogspot.com/ Perhaps we've all heard the addage: Never let a trade become an investment. But what about an investment that becomes a trade? That's what I'm facing right now with my BUD stock, and the approaching InBev deal. NOTE: This is not an investment or trading recommendation. The losses in trading can be very real, and depending on the investment vehicle, can exceed your initial investment. I am not a licensed trading or investment adviser, or financial planner. But I do have 12 years of experience in trading and investing in these markets. The Challenge accounts are run for the education of other traders who should make their own decisions based off their own research.
