Rose Royce - Golden Touch 1980 From Rose Royce's 1981 Album Golden Touch lbum Review by Alex Henderson Without question, Rose Royce suffered a major loss when lead vocalist Gwen "Rose" Dickey left the band in 1979. But as memorable as her contributions were -- as much as fans adored her -- 1980's Golden Touch proved that she wasn't indispensable. Rose Royce still had a gem of a lead singer in falsetto Kenny Copeland and Dickey's female replacement Richee Benson proved that she was no slouch either. Benson doesn't sound anything like her predecessor, as Dickey's vocals had a girlish sweetness and that isn't the case with the husky-voiced Benson. But the new replacement is charismatic in her own way, and she proves herself to be a deserving addition to the band on the dreamy title song as well as the lovely ballad "And You Wish For Yesterday." Copeland, meanwhile, has some memorable spots on the medium-tempo "Love Is in the Air," the Stylistics-like "Would You Please Be Mine," and the funky "I Wanna Make It With You" (not to be confused with the Bread hit). And all of the singers contribute to "Funkin' Around," a very fun slice of Parliament-influenced p-funk. Golden Touch isn't among Rose Royce's essential albums, but it's a solid, respectable effort that illustrates the band's ability to carry on without Dickey. Nicolas Clip du Groupe KURT Nicolas Après diverses expériences musicales au cours des 10 dernières années, notamment une apparition remarquée aux Eurockéennes de Belfort qui sera suivie d'une signature en édition chez EMI en 1999 avec le groupe JEREMY, Tom, Pat et Alban se retrouvent à nouveau en 2004 au sein du groupe Pop-Rock CALLBOX. Le groupe enregistre un album puis un maxi 6 titres et remporte le concours national "les imprévus d'AOL music" (15 groupes sélectionnés sur 600 postulants). Suivra une tournée d'une trentaine de dates mais l'aventure prend fin en juin 2005. Les 3 musiciens, alors attirés par la musique Electro-Rock, décident de travailler ensemble sur un nouveau projet. La nouvelle formation s'appellera KURT. Après 6 mois de travail, le premier concert "test" en formule trio (Guitare / voix / basse et machines) lors de la reformation du groupe "Les infidèles" dans une salle comble de 700 personnes, reçoit un accueil très favorable du public et conforte le groupe à poursuivre dans cette voie. Très vite, l'envie d'intégrer un batteur sur scène se fait ressentir. Quelques mois plus tard, KURT fait appel à Paul RELAVE, batteur du groupe ALEC de la région de St ETIENNE (42). Doté d'une solide expérience, ce dernier s'adapte aisément au jeu du groupe et devient très rapidement indispensable. Il participera d'ailleurs à la réalisation de l'album et enregistrera 3 titres. A travers ce premier maxi 7 titres "Artificiel", auto-produit et pressé à 1000 exemplaires, KURT développe une identité musicale qui lui est propre en n'hésitant pas à mélanger les sons et les programmations empruntés à l'électro, les guitares imposantes et incisives du rock et les mélodies séduisantes de la pop. Le tout soutenu par une rythmique basse / batterie implacable, KURT réussit à créer et développer un son puissant et tendu. La force des mots utilisés par Tom, auteur et chanteur du groupe, au service de textes accrocheurs et engagés, parvient à faire sonner la musique et toucher l'auditeur dès la première écoute. KURT vient de débuter une tournée de promotion. Lo importante es poder cerrarlos, y dejar ir momentos de la vida que se van clausurando. ¿Terminó tu trabajo?, ¿Se acabó tu relación?, ¿Ya no vives más en esa casa?, ¿Debes irte de viaje?, ¿La relación se acabó? Puedes pasarte mucho tiempo de tu presente "revolcándote" en los ¿porque?..., en devolver el cassette y tratar de entender por que motivo esas cosas que eran tan importantes en tu vida se convirtieron de repente en polvo. No podemos estar en el presente añorando el pasado. Ni siquiera preguntándonos porqué. Lo que sucedió, sucedió, y hay que soltarlo, hay que desprenderse. No podemos ser niños eternos, ni adolescentes tardíos, ni empleados de empresas inexistentes, ni tener vínculos con quien no quiere estar vinculado a nosotros. ¡Los hechos pasan y hay que dejarlos ir! Por eso, a veces es tan importante destruir recuerdos, regalar presentes, cambiar de casa, romper papeles, tirar documentos, y vender o regalar libros. Los cambios externos pueden simbolizar procesos interiores de superación. Dejar ir, soltar, desprenderse. En la vida nadie juega con las cartas marcadas, y hay que aprender a perder y a ganar. Hay que dejar ir, hay que dar vuelta a la hoja, hay que vivir sólo lo que tenemos en el presente. El pasado ya pasó. No esperes que te lo devuelvan, no esperes que te reconozcan, no esperes que alguna vez se den cuenta de quién eres tú. Suelta el resentimiento. (¿a qué?), ¿Necesidad de aclaraciones?, ¿Palabras que no se dijeron?, ¿Silencios que lo invadieron? Si puedes enfrentarlos ya y ahora, hazlo, si no, déjalos ir, cierra capítulos. Dite a ti mismo que no, que no vuelven. Pero no por orgullo ni soberbia, sino, porque tú ya no encajas allí en ese lugar, en ese corazón, en esa habitación, en esa casa, en esa oficina, en ese oficio Tú ya no eres el mismo que fuiste hace dos días, hace tres meses, hace un año. Por lo tanto, no hay nada a qué volver. Cierra la puerta, da vuelta a la hoja, cierra el círculo. Ni tú serás el mismo, ni el entorno al que regresas será igual, porque en la vida nada se queda quieto, nada es estático. Es salud mental, amor por ti mismo, desprender lo que ya no está en tu vida.
