Path breaking statement on Indo Pak relations http://www.instablogs.com/ Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has said that India has never been a threat to Pakistan, and that militants in Indian-administered Kashmir are terrorists. The unorthodox views run counter to those held by Pakistan's military, which views India as a threat. India and Pakistan have fought three wars but have made recent peace moves. Path breaking statement on Indo Pak relations President Zardari's statement is bound to create ruckus within Pakistan since it controverts the very essence that has defined the Indo Pakistan relationship for 60 years. Those who consider India as an existential threat to Pakistan need revisioning. Mr. Zardari's comments are path breaking and lend fresh dimension to Indo Pakistan relationship. Neither can we allow our policies to be India centric any more nor can we allow our relationship to be held hostage by the Kashmir issue. Terrorism has destabilized the whole region, it also poses a grave threat to Pakistan's democratic and secular traditions. We need to work together with our neighbors to rein in this menace. Mr. Zardari was also correct in stating that 'there is no economic survival for nations like us. We need to have trade with our neighbors first'. Pakistan's troubled economy can derive huge benefits through trade with India. Pakistan must develop normal friendly ties with its neighbors if it is to emerge as a powerful nation. He defeated Prithviraj Chauhan in the Second battle of Tarain in 1192 CE, Rajput kingdoms like Saraswati, Samana, Kohram and Hansi were captured without any difficulty. Then Ghori proceeded to Ajmer. Nobody challenged him. After reaching Ajmer, he spared the son of PrithviRaj, Kola, who in turn took the oath of loyalty to Ghauri. Within a few years Muhammad Ghauri controlled northern Rajasthan and the northern part of the Ganges-Yamuna Doab. Muhammad Ghauri returned east to Ghazni to deal with the threat to his western frontiers from the Turks and Mongols, but his armies, mostly under Turkish generals, continued to advance through northern India, raiding as far east as Bengal. Muhammad returned to Lahore after 1200 to deal with a revolt of the Gakhar tribe in the Punjab. He suppressed the revolt, but was killed during a Gakhar raid on his camp on the Jhelum River in 1206. Upon his death, Qutb-ud-din Aybak, Sultan Muhammad Ghauri's most capable general, who had started of by sacking Ayodhya in 1193 A.D., took control of Ghauri's Indian conquests and declared himself the first Sultan of Delhi thus establishing Sultanate of Delhi in 1206 CE. Muhammad Ghauri is remembered as an empire builder and is justly called the founder of the Muslim Empire in Indo-Pakistan. India is Fencing its Borders to Keep Out Muslim Terrorists Since the mid-1990s, India has been involved in the construction of some of the lengthiest separation barriers along its international borders. Six of the nine countries neighboring India are classified as Least Developed Countries. As a consequence, thousands of people from these countries, especially from Bangladesh, Nepal and Burma, illegally immigrate into India, a newly industrialized country, to seek better economic opportunities putting tremendous strain on its economy. The Indo-Bangladeshi barrier and Indo-Burma barrier are being built to check smuggling, illegal immigration and possible infiltration by Muslim terrorists. In addition, India completed the construction of the Indian Kashmir barrier which runs across the Line of Control in Kashmir. The purpose of this barrier is to prevent infiltration by Pakistan-based Muslim militants and terrorists. The Indian government is also considering the construction of a barrier along the Indo-Pakistan border. Tags: India Border Fence Pakistan Bangladesh Muslim Terrorist iIlegal Immigrant Infiltration |
