Induction of Little Walter Little Walter (May 1, 1930 February 15, 1968) Although Little Walter might not have been the first person to amplify the harmonica, his pioneering use of the microphone helped establish the modern blues harmonica. With a mike clasped to his harp, Little Walter created echoing, moaning, hornlike sounds that redefined the capabilities of the instrument. Walter Jacobs had fourteen top ten hits on the R&B charts in the 1950s including two number #1 songs Juke and My Babe. Little Walter toured and recorded extensively with blues great Muddy Waters in the 1950s. He also recorded with Jimmy Rogers, Memphis Minnie, Otis Rush and Bo Diddley. Little Walters influence was pervasive, especially in England where the next generation of harp players such as Mick Jagger listened to his records over and over. LLVLC On YouTube: Basics Of Low-Carb Induction (Episode 38) Today's video is an informative one from http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine as they discuss the all-important two-week period on a low-carb diet known as Induction. Anyone starting low-carb needs to get their body into ketosis so their body can begin burning stored fat for fuel. In Episode 38 of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" video series, Jimmy and Christine discuss the basics of low-carb Induction by telling you exactly what foods you should and shouldn't eat on this earliest phase. Remember, you don't stay in this phase for long unless you have a lot of weight to lose. And the purpose of Induction is NOT weight loss--it's to kickstart your body into burning fat. Here's what you eat during Induction: - Unlimited meats and eggs - 1 cup of non-starchy veggies - 2 cups of green leafy veggies - 3 bowls of bouillon broth - 4 ounces of cheese - 6 olives - 1/2 avocado - 3 teaspoons of lemon/lime juice - 4 tablespoons of heavy cream - 2 tablespoons of soy sauce - 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise - 1 serving of pickles In future videos, Jimmy and Christine will continue to talk about the various aspects of Induction, including snacks, sweeteners, and other such important topics for people choosing to begin on their own healthy low-carb lifestyle journey. You WON'T want to miss those! Keep watching "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" and send us your comments and questions at livinlowcarbman@charter.net anytime. Visit Jimmy Moore at his http://www.LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blog, http://www.TheLivinLowCarbShow.com podcast, and his discussion forum at http://www.LivinLowCarbDiscussion.com for even more education, encouragement, and inspiration about the amazingly healthy low-carb lifestyle! Induction of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff Songwriters-producers and record label owners Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff made Philadelphia the soul capitol in the 1970s. Gamble and Huffs label Philadelphia International had a stable of artists that included the OJays, McFadden & Whitehead, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Lou Rawls and Dee Dee Sharp. Their records featured the duos trademark sound: lush string orchestrations, a powerful rhythm section and a disco beat. They also worked with Dusty Springfield, Wilson Pickett, and Jerry Butler among others. In 1990, Gamble and Huff won a Grammy for best R&B song, awarded for Simply Reds cover of the Blue Notes 1972 hit If You Dont Know Me By Know. And in 1999, they won the Grammy Trustees Award. Also watch the great performance by Patti LaBelle. Presented by Jerry Butler. Tags: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Kenny Gamble Leon Huff Performance Patti LaBelle Presentor Jerry Butler soul |

Atkins Induction Acceptable Foods - The Good, The Bad and the Pork Rinds... I go over the Acceptable Foods for Atkins Induction and Extended Induction phase and personal advice on how to have a successful Induction phase. Having a successful Induction phase of Atkins is so much more than just losing weight. It is about getting your eating under your control again, getting your blood glucose levels stabilized, starting to learn new healthy habits with food, and finally to experience the magic of ketosis to the person needing to lose weight. Learning new comfort foods is one of the main steps. The low carb recipe sites play a key role in achieving this goal. Here are a few of my favorite: Linda's Low Carb -- http://users3.ev1.net/~FONTLADY/ ADBB Atkins Recipes -- http://www.lowcarbrecipes.org/ Low Carb Luxury Recipes -- http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/lowcarb-recipes.html Tags: Atkins Diet Weightloss Low Carb Recipes Dieting Carbohydrate Fitness Induction Bowulf obesity fat |

Atkins Diet Quick Hits: Induction is not only 20g or less In the fourth video of the "Atkins Diet Quick Hits" series, I deal with a question I get from new people asking about a certain lower carb food or frankenfood and if it is ok due to its low carb. It is often not on the Acceptable Foods List or filled with ingredients not on the list. This is when I get into the discussion why the first phase of the diet is more than just reduce your carbs to less than 20g per day. Here are the main goals of any Induction phase: 1.) Get into ketosis and see its benefits 2.) Get used to the food selection 3.) Control one's eating habits and prove that control to yourself 4.) Set stage for future weight loss and ability to detect future problem foods when you readd them later Not following the Induction rules and the Acceptable Foods List erodes the guarantee of your success. Atkins Induction Rules: http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases/phase-one/the-rules-of-induction Atkins Induction Acceptable Foods List: http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases/phase-one/acceptable-foods You can also watch my Induction videos to see my take on Induction Phase. Atkins Diet: Induction Flu: Signs of Progress or Problems It is very common that I read questions or statements from new Atkineers saying, "How come I feel so tired?" "Why do I have such a headache?" "I have no energy what is this diet doing to me!" One of the problems is no one forewarned them about Induction flu. Induction flu is simply the body burning its last remaining glucose and stored glycogen for energy, and suffering withdrawal effects. It is very similar to what happens when runners "hit the wall" and cyclist "bonk." In addition to the physical withdrawal symptoms there are the mental symptoms as well. Think of drug addict, are they necessarily pleasant to be around or in high spirits even though they are doing something good. Well the carb addict has the same reaction; I personally was irritable for the first 2 or 3 weeks as I had to figure out how to eat, exert control over what entered my mouth, and regain new comfort foods. It is a dramatic change, and some people resist change. The good news is it is just temporary. It typically only last a few days, but for some the mental effects might last longer. It also shows you are on the right path and making true progress on getting rid of the excess fat. The silver lining is indeed that by the end if you continue the follow the plan you will be burning fat for fuel. You'll have to watch the video for my suggestions on how to lessen the effects. Atkins Diet Quick Hits: Post Induction Stall Syndrome I receive so many comments on this topic that I thought I better dedicate a video to it. The question usually goes as follows, "I lost a lot of weight in week 1 or in the first 14 days, but I haven't lost in a week. What am I doing wrong?" I invariably point them to google the terms "Post Induction Stall Syndrome." This is the knack of the human body to readjust its water retention after a period of weight loss. The fat loss is STILL happening, but the readjustment of hydration levels after the burning of the glycogen masks it for awhile. The short answer is the dieter is still on the right path, and not to freak out and actually create a problem. If this is happening to you, rest assured you are normal, and keep on keeping on.
