Many of us are kind of exposed to northern indian music such as Hindustani music or even enjoy the serene and invigorating sound of sitar. But this is something different. This is southern India's Carnatic music. Kind of hardcore indian stuff which is very much alien to many of us. Wanna explore? A 110 minute concert starring TM Krishna and Bombay Jayashri, Margazhi Raagam is all set to release in digital theaters. First, it is focusing on conquering Madras, then India and the world. So, whats so special about this innovation? Isnt carnatic music meant only for live performances on the jamakalam with the crackling microphones? If you had seen the trailer, you would have no doubt that Margazhi Raagam is taking carnatic music forward in a new and exciting direction. It is beautiful and completely different from anything Ive ever seen, said Kanimozhi, after watching the trailer. The voices and the sounds were so intense it feels like the film will provide a complete carnatic music experience. I have been attending carnatic music concerts for many years but this seems so different. I think it is a true celebration of carnatic music and homage to the art. It was Aghal Films that decided to take Jayendras concept of concert in cinema forward. The idea was to give Carnatic music an evocative visual appeal and the sound quality that the music deserves. I have been thinking about something like this for four or five years, said Jayendra. But there was always a technological handicap and only in the last one year did it become possible. This film has many firsts going for it it has digital, uncompressed, six track surround sound that will come alive with evocative visuals captured on RED 4k Digital Cinema Camera. In fact, it is the first time anywhere in the world that seven such cameras have been used for a single shoot. Margazhi Raagam is set to be the vehicle to make carnatic music a global experience that can easily be accessed and enjoyed by people in every country.
