Johnny Cash- "A Hundred Highways" 'American V: A Hundred Highways' began recording in 2002, and took over eight months at Cash's home near Nashville and Rick Rubin's Los Angeles studio to complete. During the recording process in Nashville, Johnny and Rick formed a routine normally regrouping in the morning when Cash's energy was at its highest for a couple of hours each day. Songs were typically brought to the table by Johnny or Rick after hearing or thinking of a song that would fit. Rubin, says "I think this is as strong an album as Johnny's ever made" The album was finished after Cash's passing, by long time engineer David Ferguson and previous American musicians, letting Cash's voice lead the way while building... In this 1965 show he invited June Carter and Johnny Cash to pick and sing with him. In this scene Johnny sings "I am a Pilgrim" and then June goes into a crazy story of how she lost some teeth in Korea! It is funny not to see Johnny and June sitting together as they always do in later talk shows, but at this time they were not officially together or divorced from their previous spouses.
