Konami SNES Mix! Made for Akutare. This is a random mix of Konami games for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I'm pretty confident that you'll know some of them, and chances are you've played at least one of these games. I didn't include every SNES game the company made... the Konami fans can probably figure out what the real reason for that is (well, besides the fact that Prince of Persia is terrible). Dedicated to penguin lovers everywhere. Tags: konami snes mix sfc sparkster batman axelay parodius gradius goemon mystical ninja castlevania twinbee contra tokimeki |

(Contra) Konami Code/ コナミコマンド The Konami Code, known in Japan as the Konami Command (コナミコマンド, Konami Komando?), is a cheat code that can be used in many Konami video games, usually giving the player a large number of lives or fully charging up the abilities of the character. The code was first used in the 1986 release of Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System but was made famous in North America in the NES version of Contra. While pausing the game or during the title screen, the player presses the following sequence of buttons on the game controller: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A This is the original version of the code, designed for the NES controller. In many popular representations of the code, "Start" is added at the end of the sequence. This is because in many of the early occurrences of the code, "Start" had to be pressed before any effects of the code could be seen. In these cases, "Start" either started or unpaused the game. "Select" is also sometimes inserted at the end of the code, but in this instance, the code would be input at the title screen, and pressing "Select" usually switched the players option from one to two for cooperative play (as in Contra). The player can actually press "Select" before inputting the code and it will still take effect. The exact sequence varies from game to game, and has been adapted to fit the button layouts of different video game consoles. In mobile phone games by Konami, B and A are substituted with 5, 7, and 3 on the numerical pad, which is the goroawase pronunciation for "konami." The Konami Code was created by Kazuhisa Hashimoto, who was developing the home port of the 1985 arcade game Gradius, a scrolling shooter released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. Finding the game too difficult to play through during testing, he created a code which gives the player a full set of powerups, which are normally attained gradually throughout the game. Also, the code entered backwards would award the player 30 lives. For whatever reason, he did not remove the code when testing was finished. The code has continued to be present in Gradius sequels and spin-offs, including the SNES version of Gradius III, which actually destroys the player's ship upon entering the original code (however, substituting Left and Right with the L and R triggers of the Super Famicom controller powers up the ship). Arguably the best-known example of the Konami Code is in the 1988 NES version of Contra, where using the code increases the player's lives from 3 to 30. Due to the game's intense difficulty, many Contra players became reliant on the code to finish the game, earning it the title "The Contra Code." Although the Konami Code was not the first video game password (that distinction belonging to "xyzzy" from Colossal Cave Adventure), it is probably the most well-known video game code. The popularity of Gradius and Contra has closely associated the Konami Code with the gaming era of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Because of its popularity, the code has been repeated in countless video games. It has also been referenced in many different pop-culture contexts, such as shirts, songs, TV shows, and other media. You can enter the code while viewing a topic on digg.com and it will expand all comments. You can input the code on GameSpot (using the arrow keys and the letter-keys "A" and "B") and instead of pressing "start", press the Enter key. Once entered, you will be sent to the NES Contra cheat codes page. The song "Anyone Else But You" by The Moldy Peaches references this code in the line "Up up down down left right left right B A start, Just because we use cheats doesn't mean we're not smart". The song "99 lives" by The Pettit Project references the Konami code in the line "up up down down left right left right B A select start, now I'll play you all night." Track five of The Ataris' End Is Forever album is named "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A Start." The Deftones Song entitled "U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select,Start" references this code. The Johnny Socko Song "Old School Master" includes the line: "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start!" Ring of Honor wrestler Jimmy Jacobs calls his finisher the Contra code. Whenever he applies the move the announcer would usually shout "Its the Contra code! Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B!" Stand-up comedian Byron Sadik does a joke about the Konami Code in his performance. In the film Stay Alive, Swink tells Phin that to unclothe the zombie concubines he must input the Konami Code. The album The Funeral Sciences by the Seattle-based band Schoolyard Heroes features the song "Contra," which is about the code. This was taken from wikipedia. Getsu Fuuma Den 月風魔伝 げつふうまでん (Konami, 1987) NES/Famicom An excellent samurai action/adventure game from Konami that never came out in the States. You play as an undead samurai named Fuuma who goes on a quest to avenge his 3 slain brothers and find their 3 hadoukens (wave swords) to kill a nasty demon. If you love games like Castlevania II, Zelda II, Rygar, Battle of Olympus, and such, you definitely need to check this game out. BTW although Fuuma did make appearences in the Wai Wai World games, Konami never made a sequel to this. Tags: Nintendo NES Famicom Konami 月風魔伝 げつふうまでん Getsu Fumma Den Getsufuu Maden |

Konami - Metal Gear Solid 4: Assassin's Solid Here is a video showing the April Fool's Day video Konami and Ubisoft made with Solid Snake as being Altair from Assassin's Creed. From what I read, this feature WILL be available on MGS4 when it releases. Gamers can actually put Snake in an Altair costume in Metal Gear Solid 4 as part of a collaboration with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Does this mean we'll be seeing reciprocal costume exchanges in the next Creed adventure? Maybe. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME! MGS4 Information: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is an upcoming stealth action video game in the popular Metal Gear series. Directed by Hideo Kojima, Shuyo Murata and Yoji Shinkawa, Guns of the Patriots is currently being developed by Kojima Productions exclusively for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The game is being designed around the motto "No Place to Hide!". MGS4 will reportedly be the last Metal Gear game developed by Hideo Kojima, and the last game in the series starring Solid Snake. The game will be released worldwide on Thursday, June 12, 2008. More Infromation: (taken from: http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/05/13/assassins-solid-is-real/) Do you remember back around the time of April Fool's seeing this video depicting Snake in an Altair costume? That was hilariously good fun. Of course, we all thought that was just a nicely played joke; however, it isn't a joke. It's reality. Gamers can actually put Snake in an Altair costume in Metal Gear Solid 4 as part of a collaboration with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Does this mean we'll be seeing reciprocal costume exchanges in the next Creed adventure? Maybe. This is just one of the many tie-ins revealed at today's MGS4 Completion Ceremony held in Japan. MGS4 is going all out with the advertising collaborations: celphones, iPods, motorcycles, and energy drinks. We just hope all this in-game advertising is subtle (it probably will be unless Snake starts flashing cheesy grins at the screen with product in hand). It's good to hear that the game is officially celebrated as done. Now, all we need to do is wait for June 12. Plot: Set in 2014, five years after the "Big Shell Incident" (the events of the Plant chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries. The nanos that are in the PMCs are called "Sons of the Patriots" or "SOP". The five largest of these PMCs are owned by a single mother company named Outer Haven, which is operated by Liquid Ocelot. Amassing an army whose manpower rivals that of the United States, Liquid prepares to launch an armed insurrection. With the world once again in crisis, a rapidly aging and disillusioned Solid Snake is deployed into the Middle East by Roy Campbell to terminate Liquid. Guns of the Patriots will take place in five locations throughout the world, including the Middle East, South America, and Eastern Europe. Review: The game has currently received one review, receiving 10 out of 10 from Official UK PlayStation Magazine, commenting Metal Gear Solid 4 "shifts gears constantly, innovating again and again". Konami Advanced Video review Hi, this is an Armchair Arcade videogame review, this time by Mark Vergeer, featuring Konami's Arcade Advanced for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance (GBA), yet another attempt by the industry to breathe new life into some old games. It features no more than six original arcade games, and this time Konami tried their best to create almost arcade perfect conversions of the old games, and I must say I like the result. It's nothing more than that though, no fancy graphics, no enhanced graphics, just something that looks very close to the original sprites and sounds very much like the original arcade. Not only the looks and sounds are similar, but also the gameplay itself actually feels like the arcade originals. It's much unlike other classic rehashes I've played where the games might look and sound similar but the gameplay doesn't really feel the same. So what games are we talking about? - Frogger - Gyruss - Time Pilot - Scramble - Yie Ar Kung-Fu - Rush'n Attack You select the games from a fancy game selection screen... Frogger As you can see the sounds and even the weird color scheme of the original arcade is preserved. The graphics are almost full size and the screen has to scroll vertically to be able to accommodate the entire playing field on the tiny GameBoy Advance screen. All-in-all a very fine Frogger conversion... Scramble The first time I played this game was on the GCE Vectrex game system, then I was exposed to it in the arcades. I must say I prefer the Vectrex version over the arcade. But here you again have a perfectly playable conversion of the arcade original. It plays exactly the same, but to me does feel a lot faster than the original arcade. A game that has multiple levels featuring the same high standards that we saw in the Frogger game... Time Pilot I bought this game for my C-64 (Commodore 64) and it was virtually identical to the arcade. I have played this game a lot and I was amazed to see how good the conversion to the GameBoy Advance has succeeded. Everything is there from the parallax scrolling clouds in the sky to the various fighter planes of the different eras that you need to shoot and the parachutists that you can save. Despite the tiny controls of the GameBoy Advance, a very playable experience... Gyruss Now there is a game that I truly have played a lot. I bought this for my C-64 when it came out and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could play the arcade machine quite well with the skills that I learned on the C-64 version. This is my favourite game on this cartridge and it features all the goodies found in the arcade. Gameplay truly feels identical to the arcade game! Yie Ar Kung-Fu One of the first fighter games out there. Not one of my favourites, but this title also features graphics and gameplay that feel the same as the arcade. A very good conversion. Rush'n Attack Rush'n Attack is also known as Green Beret and is another fun game that was released on this. I have played this game at the video arcade, the C-64 and on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). The C-64 version is a tough game and so is this arcade conversion. All games feature a multiplayer-mode where it is possible to link up two GameBoy Advance systems and play together. I wasn't able to test out this feature, but I also believe it is possible to connect to systems when only one person uses the cartridge. I was pleasantly surprised by this arcade collection, perhaps because the games are kept so very close to their original versions. Graphics 8/10 Sound 8/10 Gameplay 9/10 Tags: armchairarcade videogame review gameboy |

konami msx collection - parodius (intro, first level) this is parodius for the MSX. Yup it all started on this japanese home computer. Thankfully MSX games games featured on this collection are versions that have music using the SSC chip. The SCC is a wavetable sound chip (created by Konami)and thanks to them, their MSX games sound pretty decent. One thing that really bugs me is that Konami spent a good half of the late 80's making games for the MSX(personally I would NEVER called this a games machine) when they could have spent more productive time making games for the pc engine... BTW this is the MSX collection on the Sega Saturn which unlike the playstation version features all 30 games on one disc. I gotta stress the gradius related games on the MSX are some of the hardest games ever...and if you got serious anger management issues.. don't play these!! Tags: parodius パロディウス msx konami |
