Iris Murdoch on Philosophy and Literature: Section 1 The areas in which philosophy and literature overlap are examined in this program by renowned Oxford novelist Iris Murdoch. Style and structure in philosophical writing are compared and contrasted with those in literature. The narrative abilities of Plato, Schopenhauer, and Kant are examined. Philosophy's predilection for accepting only literature that supports its theories is discussed as a source of antagonism between the two disciplines. Kafka and the Destroyers of Literature A sinister organization seeks to rid the world of all historical intellectuals. Can they be stopped, or will the works of Kafka and Marx be lost to us forever...? This was done for my college seminar class, and it's the first video I finished using the Redrock M2 adaptor. Admittedly I suffer from the "new toy" syndrome, and my emphasis here was more on getting cool shots than anything else. Transclusion: Fixing Electronic Literature Google Tech Talks January 29, 2007 ABSTRACT Everyone wants to improve on Web structure, but few see how stuck it is-- the browser limits what can be seen, and the one-way embedded links limit connectivity. Transclusion-based hypertext has great promise, fulfilling (I believe) all the things people want that the Web cannot do. But to build a clean system around transclusion, we do not embed, since that brings inappropriate markup and links to new contexts. Most importantly, we must have editability with persistent addresses-- which means... Tags: google howto transclusion fixing electronic |
