John McCain is also a supporter of cap and trade. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; its just that it will bankrupt them because theyre going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas thats being emitted. Obama said, That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in wind, solar, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. The only thing that I have said with respect to coal, I havent been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it. Palin promised the crowd at Marietta College that her ticket will not let that happen to the coal industry. Instead, well make clean coal a reality and to help power the American economy with clean coal technology, were going to be looking to the hard-working people of Ohio and West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The Obama points out that later in the interview the Illinois senator says that eliminating coal is an illusion. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland responded to Palins comments. After John McCain said hed like to transition away from coal entirely, his campaign is hardly in a position to criticize a coal state Senator like Barack Obama who has outlined a $150 billion investment in clean coal and other technologies to create jobs and build a new energy economy. The truth is, John McCain and Sarah Palin cant name a single thing theyd do differently on the economy than George Bush, so all they have to offer is last minute, desperate distortions. Dog Tricks Realizing that the only videos I have up thus far are showing my dog running around being a general nuisance, I figured it was time to show that he really does have some time and energy invested in his good manners and obedience training. In reviewing the video I realized that I clicked at an inappropriate time! Shame on me!!! But I've noticed it and now there's no need to mention it :) Rip is 11 months old in this video and we have since fine tuned some of these behaviours. I use a combination of training methods. For communicating with my dog I use a lot of the same methods and philosophies as Cesar Milan. Sheer presence goes a long way for telling a dog when something is unacceptable or even when inviting them in for a cuddle. It's about how you compose yourself and how you present yourself... much like good management in the corporate world. For teaching complex behaviours and chaining behaviours I use classical/operant conditioning (clicker training). The clicker gets phased out gradually and is replaced by the word 'yes' when I get the behaviour I want. With Riptide I reward most often with ball chasing, disc throwing, and play because that's what drives him. He's not much of a treat dog and loses interest in treats quite quickly. Dialysis Part I I have a kidney disease and was on dialysis for 15 months until Sara, a kind stranger, offered to donate a kidney to me. Look for my future video "Kidney Transplant". This was my last dialysis session. I recorded it for future patients who have to go on dialysis. Hopefully this will help you understand what you will be going through. Q: Does it hurt? A: Not after you develop a button hole (where you use the same hole every time) kind of like the air hole in a basketball. Q: Are you afraid of needles? A: Yes, and I look away when drawing blood. Oddly enough, I usually put in my own needles but had to hold the camera this time (that's why she was asking me about the angle). Q: What is that knot on your forearm? A: It is an "AV Fistula" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arteriovenous_fistula). It is an operation which attaches an artery to a vein to get the arterial pressure needed for dialysis in an accessible location. Q: What is she doing with the syringes? A: She has to "flush the line" to make sure there isn't a clot or blockage and to make sure that the needle is actually in my vein. If it isn't, I'd feel a lot of pain from what I understand. Q: What are all those beeping sounds? A: Funny, but I completely tuned those out when making this video because I'm so used to them. The machines are continuously monitoring patients and if anything is out of tolerance (blood pressure too high or too low), or you move your arm too much and the arterial/venous pressure is too much for the machine, it will beep. Usually, it is a matter of pressing a button on the screen or checking on the patient -- I've never seen anything "serious". Q: Why are there different colored needles? A: Although they are both the same type (blunt), I think it helps the technician know which one goes to the arterial line and which goes to the venous line of the machine.
