Equalibrum - Time Management (Akai Mpd24 Beat) http://www.myspace.com/equalibrum Also Check my MPD32 live looping video. This video was made with FL Studio 7 and the new AKAI MPD24 midi pad controller. download this mp3 and others free @ http://www.maketunes.com/audio/user/1676 Been making beats and producing hip-hop a while now, Since before (good) software existed for making beats, since way before the MPD24. Since before youtube existed... A while back I noticed there were hardly any videos on youtube showing the new AKAI MPD24 so I took a few hours to make this one. I wanted to come up with some kinda routine I could perform live if ever I had to play at a beat battle or show/event. It isn't perfect and I know that the pad scratching is kind of cheesy but it was a new trick I recently learned so I ended up using it in this little video. I'm a scratch DJ myself and prefer vinyl over this pad scratching ANY DAY but I was stoked on learning the trick so incorporated it into this little performance. So like I said, it's a cool little trick and nothing more. I know it's not as skillfull as real scratching. No need to state the obvious people. This video was originally ment for other beatmakers and producers so they can see what the MPD24 can do. I never really thought much of it but then people started eating it up to my surprise. Hopefully it inspires some people. If you want to hear more music check my myspace page and downloads link. Got alot of tracks ands remixes...go check them out. thanks - equalibrum Tags: equalibrum AKAI MPD24 hiphop Live Beat Making Instrumental eq mpd 24 32 Beatmaker MPC equilibrium |

Geoff Dabelko - Water Management as Conflict Management Geoff Dabelko is Director of the Environmental Change and Security Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center. In this presentation, Dabelko describes how water quality and quantity are declining in many parts of the world, posing acute problems for communities and governments. This crisis, along with high levels of interdependence on shared water resources, has led many members of the news media and some politicians to warn of imminent "water wars" between countries. Yet such wars between nations over water have never occurred in modern history and are unlikely to take place in the future. Although tensions over water resources often lead countries to trade hostile words, such exchanges rarely escalate into full-fledged conflicts. Anger Management with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Visit http://www.Tapping.com for more Emotional Freedom Technique videos, EFT articles, and my E-Book. Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple acupressure technique for releasing negative feelings. You feel negative feelings in the body, so you have to go to the body to work on them. You can release a negative feeling right now with this video. If you feel like getting angry is a problem for you, this video can help you. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: How hard should I tap? A: Tap lightly, just so that you feel it. The purpose of the tapping is to bring your attention to different parts of your body, it actually works if you just imagine tapping - as long as your attention is drawn to the right points. Q: How can I be sure I am finding the right points? A: Use two fingers to make sure you cover the points. Sometimes the point will 'feel' right, as if there is a slight indent in the skin or the point is particularly sensitive. It's all connected so you don't have to be 100% accurate. Q: You have missed out points that Gary Craig teaches! A: Yes. Feel free to tap those too, I left them out to keep the video simple and it seems to work fine without them. If you find the video doesn't work for you, try tapping the additional points - around the top-middle of the head, and just under the armpit. Q: Is the sequence important? A: No. You can tap the points in any order. In fact you only need to tap one or two of the points for each particular feeling. It's just you have no easy way to know which point so you might as well tap them all. Q: I am a skeptic! / You are a charlatan! A: Thanks. Tapping is perfectly explainable scientifically but it does go beyond most people's understanding. It really does work though, and the best way to prove that to yourself is to try it and watch your negative feelings disappear. For more info see the Introductory video which gives a bit more explanation: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6i33V2EcVlY Also this video shows use of an electro-acupuncture pen to show that the points have a different electrical resistence to other parts of the body: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GCYkdK0Uol0 Tags: Tapping EFT Emotional Freedom Technique |

Technology Management Program UCSB: Energy Peak Oil Peak oil theory states that oil will have a beginning, middle, and an end of production, and at some point it will reach a level of maximum output. It is estimated that approximately half of all oil that will be recovered, has been recovered, and oil production may reach a peak in the near future, or perhaps already has. Then what? Algorithms for Data Management and Migration Google Tech Talks January, 23 2008 ABSTRACT I will describe some algorithms for addressing some fundamental optimization problems that arise in the context of data storage and management. In the first part of the talk we will address the following question: How should we store data in order to effectively cope with non-uniform demand for data? How many copies of popular data objects do we need? Where should we store them for effective load balancing? In the second part of the talk we will address the issue of moving data objects quickly, to react to changing demand patterns. We will develop approximation algorithms for these problems. The first part of the talk is joint work with Golubchik, Khanna,Thurimella and Zhu. The second part is joint work with Kim and Wan. Speaker: Samir Khuller Samir Khuller received his M.S and Ph.D from Cornell University in 1989 and 1990, respectively. He spent 2 years as a Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland, before joining the Computer Science Department in 1992, where he is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Computer Science. His research interests are in graph algorithms, discrete optimization, and computational geometry. He has published about 130 journal and conference papers, and several book chapters on these topics. He received the National Science Foundation's Career Development Award, the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award and also a CTE-Lilly Teaching Fellowship. In 2003, he and his students were awarded the "Best newcomer paper" award for the ACM PODS Conference. He received the University of Maryland's Distinguished Scholar Teacher Award in 2007.
