08 - Part 2 - MechWarrior 2 - Wolf - Scorching Sand Scorching Sand Part 2 of 2 The eighth speed run in a series of levels. The goal of the complete run is to use a firemoth only where allowed, therefore times may be improved in larger mechs, however that is not the goal. This mission I have had great difficulty with, recording trouble you name it... So I have attempted to do my best and survive in one peice in this recording more than anything. I had a better time 8:52 prior to this one, but it did not get recorded unfortuneatly. With a larger mech this mission could be probably done in 4 min if the mech was fast enough. The most trouble I had was with the elementals, normally those are not an issue, but in a firemoth they are a big problem! Elementals for those who are unaware are men/women in Battlesuits who in MechWarrior 2 are extremely difficult to hit without a large mech. MechWarrior 2 - Wolf - Golden Spade - Failed 3dfx Run This was going to be my next in the series for the Wolf runs, but near the end of the run the game glitches and I lose the run. This happend in 6 different runs near the end. Since the run though was generally pretty good, I am goona post it anyway. For the final version of the run though it will not be in the 3dfx version; because, it always seems to crash right when it is almost over. This can work with vista, but the steps are different, and you have no multiplayer except through the dos version. The text file that was seen in the video can be is below. Quick Install Guide 1) MechWarrior 2: 95/Vanilla/Netmech/Pentium Non-Retail 1. Install MechWarrior 2 2. Download Slugs patch at http://www.mech2.org/downloads/Mech2XPv3.exe 3. Open the patch and select the directory you installed MechWarrior 2 in. 4. Set the Compatibility mode to 98 or 95 5. You are done! 2) MechWarrior 2: Pentium Edition 1. Install MechWarrior 2 2. Download and Unzip XVI32 http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm 3. Run XVI32 4. Replace all instances of VESA480.DLL to VESA768.DLL in MW2SND.CFG with XVI32. 5.
