Communist pseudo historians like Irfan Habib, Romila Thapar and their ilk have crafted long lies to justify aurangzeb's islamic actions and muslim intolerance and thus have thoroughly defalsified Indian History. That is another story in itself. There is also a canard being spread that islamic terrorism is new and that islam has been hijacked by extremism. This is nothing but arrant nonsense. Islam has been the problem hijacking the humanity, which is inherent in every man and woman, that has had the misfortune of being born in a muslim household. Aurangzeb is hero for muslims in Indian subcontinent - a pious muslim he died and lived his life as an ideal muslim. Hindus hate Aurangzeb and indeed most muslim rulers for their intolerance. Hindus both in Central India under Chathrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Shri Guru Gobind Singh (who ideally should be India's national Icon for his indomitable courage, sacrifice and bravery) in North India fought hard and eventually threw out muslim rule. FACT organized an exhibition of 40 paintings, including exceptional miniatures by noted Indian artists at the Chennai Lalit Kala Academy, a Central Institution from March 3. The purpose of the exhibition is to make people aware of how totalitarian ideologies and rulers destroy culture and civilisation. The show included Akhbarats (edicts issued by Aurangzeb) from the Bikaner museum and other material on Aurangzeb. It also contained two pictures depicting Aurangzeb's army destroying the Somnath temple in Gujarat and the Kesava Rai temple in Mathura which were based on Aurangzebs edicts two of which follow. a) "... The Temple of Somnath was demolished early in my reign and icon worship(there) put down. It is not known what the state of things there is at present. If the Hindus have again taken to the worship of images at the place, then destroy the temple in such a way that no trace of the building maybe left, and also expel them (the Hindu worshippers) from the place. ..." (From "Kalimat-i-Tayyibat" by 'Inayatullah, a collection of letters and orders of Aurangzeb compiled by 'Inayatullah in AD 1719 and covering the years 1699-1704 of Aurangzeb's reign.) b) "During this month of Ramzan abounding in miracles, the Emperor as the promoter of justice and overthrower of mischief, as the knower of truth and destroyer of oppression, as the zephyr of the garden of victory and the reviver of the faith of the Prophet,issued orders for the demolition of the temple situated in Mathura, famous as the Dehra of Kesho Rai. In the short time by the great exertions of his officers the destruction of this strong foundation of infidelity was accomplished and on its site a lofty mosque was built at the expenditure of a large sum..." ( from "Mas'ir-i-'Alamgiri" by Saqi Must'ad Khan. This work was completed in 1710 at the behest of Inayatu''llah Khan Kashmiri, Aurangzeb's last secretary and the materials which Must'ad Khan used in this history of Aurangzeb's reign come from the State archive). Thus the muslim rulers gloated destruction of famous Hindu places of worship. FACT-sponsored exhibitions are not crude street shows indulged in by anti Hindu media supported groups like SAHMAT but sophisticated exercises in true history telling anointed by the likes of Shri Shri Ravi Shankar, KPS Gill, N. Vittal and B. Raman. On 6th March 2008, under the instigation of muslim rogues, a team of Chennai police lead by ACP Murali, vandalized the paintings at the Lalit Kala Academy. Indian government indeed carries forward Aurangzeb's legacy. There is a road named after him in the heart of New Delhi. Aurangzeb's islamic project of ethnically cleansing Hindu Pandits from Kashmir valley was completed by Indian Government. What was even more striking was the total blackout of this incident from the mainstream English media. None of the major Indian newspapers and channels including the NDTV, CNN IBN, Times TV, Indian Express, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, and Times of India thought it fit to report the event and critize the blatant violation of fundamental rights. So much for these so- called bastions of free speech and truth. And one thinks about the column space and byte times provided criticizing Hindus that peacefully protested maqbool fida hussein, a third rate painter, who in his islamic contempt blasphemises Hindu Icons and for his work is rewarded by anti-Hindu Indian government. The contrast is striking and double standards all too obvious.
