Fujifilm Unveils FinePix S100FS: Live PMA Interview Fujifilm unveiled the FinePix S100FS (Film Simulation) digital camera, its most advanced SLR-styled camera to date. The Fuji FinePix S100FS provides an all-in-one solution for photo enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers seeking the manual controls and functionality of a Digital-SLR without the bulk, hassle and expense of additional lenses and other accessories. The Fujifijlm FinePix S100FS is equipped with a 14.3x Fujinon manual zoom lens, Fujifilm's 8th generation 2/3" Super CCD sensor with 11 Megapixels, third generation RP III processor, 2.5" tiltable LCD and ISO capabilities of up to ISO 6400 (at 6 MP) and an incredible ISO 10,000 at 3 Megapixels. Available soon at calumetphoto.com. Photographers will appreciate the ease of use and shooting versatility offered by the Optical Image Stabilisation system, and Fujifilm's acclaimed Face Detection 2.0 Technology with automatic red-eye removal, while enjoying a wide dynamic range of 100-400% that's previously only been available to users of the highest-end D-SLR cameras, and film simulation modes that only Fujifilm can provide. The Fujifilm FinePix S100FS represents the cutting edge of Fujifilm's imaging technology innovation, and redefines what users can expect from a compact digital camera. Through a unique collaboration between Fujifilm and Fujinon R&D engineers, the development team approached the process of designing this unique camera as a single project, creating the lens and CCD for express function as a single unit. This design allows the ultra-high precision Fujinon lens to achieve maximum resolution at all focal lengths of 28mm-400mm equivalent and maximum aperture of a bright F2.8 (wide angle) to F5.3 (telephoto). Because of the composite body and lens structure, there is no penetration of dirt and dust onto the CCD and the lens is perfectly matched to the sensor and perfectly aligned for the best possible results. The mechanical zoom offers framing with fingertip precision as well as offering a user experience that closely matches the use of a high end digital SLR. In the Fuji FinePix S100FS Fujifilm's engineers have incorporated some of the features from the award-winning Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro D-SLR that have been most appreciated by professional photographers, including film simulation modes and settings that expand the camera's dynamic range. The Fujifilm FinePix S100FS has an extended dynamic range (100%, 200%, 400%) similar to that of negative film thanks to the newly developed low-noise 2/3-inch 11.1 Megapixel Super CCD VIII HR and the new RP Processor III. Epson Stylus Pro 3800 - PMA 2007 Interview Designed from the beginning to exceed all expectations in the area of photographic image quality, the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 incorporates an all-new, 17" wide printer design, along with a radical new photographic screening technology. And, when combined with our breakthrough Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink, it will deliver your creative vision without compromise. Inspired by Epson's past generations of pigmented ink, Epson UltraChrome K3 incorporates a three-level Black, along with new color pigments, to dramatically raise the bar for professional color and black-and- white prints. Even more remarkable, Epson's latest high-performance, 1" wide print head now incorporates a new Auto-sharing Black Ink technology, allowing both Photo and Matte Black ink to be installed and switched automatically. Capable of handling virtually any type of cut-sheet media up to 17" wide, the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 incorporates a high-capacity paper feeder that can accommodate sizes from 4 x 6" up to 17 x 22". Continuing to set standards in media flexibility, we've developed various ways of loading media, including a front-loading, straight-through path capable of handling media up to 1.5mm thick and even a second, top-loading, single-sheet feeder optimized for fine art papers. Imagine producing archival prints with amazing color fidelity, gloss-level and scratch resistance, while providing consistently stable colors that significantly outperform lesser ink technologies. Imagine producing professional neutral and toned black-and-white prints with higher density levels and virtually no metamerism or bronzing. The Epson Stylus Pro 3800 represents a level of imaging technology unprecedented in Epson's history. The extreme precision of an Epson Stylus Pro print engine, along with the extraordinary performance of Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink, results in your image being masterfully printed, without any signs of how it was produced. Canon HV20 HD Camcorder - PMA 2007 Interview The Canon HV20 HDV Camcorder brings the power of professional level HD recording to the consumer at a price that won't break the bank. The HV20 captures images in genuine HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, so you are shooting in real HDTV, all on a mini HDV tape. One of the biggest features this camera brings to the consumer camcorder market is the ability to capture in 24p, the same frame rate used in movie film. Canon improves upon the standard CCD camcorders by using a 1/2.7" CMOS sensor to generate images. The 2.96MP CMOS sensor tends to process faster than a CCD for richer color and sharper detail. When you add a Canon Optics HD lens, 10x optical zoom and a DV II processor you get ultra-sharp color and incredible detail even from a distance. In order to ensure you get the highest possible video quality and picture Canon added an HDMI output and hot shoe terminal to the HV20. As impressive as the HV20 is as a camcorder, it gets even better as a 3.1 megapixel digital still camera. Store images on tiny HC Mini-SD memory cards with the Mini-SD card slot. The optical image stabilizer and advanced AF auto focus make it easy to get crisp clean video and photos. Choosing and using the enhanced features such as Smooth Zoom Zebra Pattern and Level Shot Control, are easy thanks to the 2.7" LCD screen. Canon fit everything you can ask from a camcorder in the HV20, all in a body that fits comfortably in your pocket. Now if they could only develop a "remove 10 pounds feature"... Casio EXV7 - PMA 2007 Interview The Exilim EX-V7 offers a balance between sleek, stylish looks and high performance functionality. The Exilim EX-V7 features a 7X Optical Zoom Lens in a small, compact camera. Now a camera this small allows you to capture stunningly detailed images from a distance. This EX-V7 features MPEG-4 H.264/AVC recording -- which provides recording and playback of high-resolution video at remarkably small file sizes. In addition to increased resolution, you'll also increase compression speed so the length of video recording is limited only by your memory card. The EX-V7 introduces four innovative technologies to reduce the risk of camera shake when taking still or video images. The camera's CCD Shift Stabilization technology helps create crisp, sharp images by mechanically suspending the CCD reducing the impact of camera shake. Casio's enhanced Anti Shake DSP combines camera shake technology with motion analysis technology. With this technology the EX-V7 utilizes the most appropriate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to capture a moving photo subject. When recording in video mode, the EX-V7 utilizes a video stabilization technology, different from CCD Shift or Anti Shake DSP technology.
