Canadian Bear bites Aussie As reported in the Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, an Australian tourist named Will Pelling went on holiday (vacation) in the Canadian Rockies, British Columbia, is a picturesque town named Whistler. While walking the streets in this town one evening Aussie Mr. Pelling came upon a bear freely roaming the streets. Mr. Pelling did what most would do, he froze! The bear walked up to him and bit his leg and walked about its business leaving Mr. Pelling behind. The bite was minor and no hospital visit required. However Mr. Pelling did what any responsible person would do, he reported the incident to local authorities. They in turn went after the bear, located it, and killed the bear. This caused the local loonies, far left liberals to prove once again that liberalism is a mental disorder. Mr. Pelling was criticized by locals, websites, and the local newspapers. To these loonies the bears life was more important than that of a humans life. When wild animals performed as this bear did in civilization, they need to be put down to avoid another such incident which could result in lose of limb or a death of a human. None of this matters to those suffering from the mental disorder know as liberalism. Bird & Fortune: George Parr, Conservative MP Here's a recent sketch from British satirists John Bird and John Fortune. Like the Australian duo John Clarke and Bryan Dawe (see my other videos) they are well known for their topical mock interviews. However, Bird & Fortune's interviews differ in that they always speak to 'George Parr', an anonymous figure in high places. In this instance George Parr is a Conservative MP with marital troubles (the real target here being 'love rat' Conservative MP Andrew Pelling). They are perhaps best known for their successful "John West Bear Fight" marketing campaign. In November 2006 the BBC reported that the "Bear Fight" videos had been viewed over 300 million times, making it the sixth most viewed video (tied with Trojan Games and behind number 5, the Exploding whale video). Other advertising campaigns have focussed on the long-running brand motto It's the fish John West rejects that make John West the best. The original company was founded by T L Pelling and C H Stanley who created Pelling Stanley and Company in 1861. The company soon specialized in importing the then novel idea of canned food. By 1879 they were importing canned salmon from the John West company, to which they purchased the naming rights in 1888, and the first shipments of John West Salmon appeared in 1892. By 1924 the three companies, operating separately, were all associated with Unilever: Angus Watson and Co. R B Green and Co. Pelling Stanley and Company By 1964 Unilever had merged the three into one company, John West Foods. Branches were expanded to Australia and Africa in 1974. In 1997 Heinz acquired the brand and John West Food company. In March 2006, Heinz sold off the John West brands for EUR 425 million (£295m) to the Lehman Brothers banking group. To increase their UK market share, in November 2000 John West canned salmon started a marketing campaign revolving around a viral video in which what appears to be bear fighting a fisherman for a fresh salmon. The video soon became a huge Internet meme, and by 2006 it was reported to be viewed over 300 million times, making it the sixth most viewed video online. The video was filmed on Invercauld Estate, near Balmoral, on the river Dee in the Scottish Highlands. Directed by Danny Kleinman created by Paul Silburn and voiced by Tony Clarkin (actor), the video campaign won a number of awards, including: British Television Advertising Awards - "Best Commercial of the Year" (2001) Advertising Creative Circle Awards - "Winner" (2001) Intl. Food & Beverage - (Creative Excellence Awards) "FAB Award" (2001) There is also a commercial for John West tuna featuring a man going inside a Mako Shark's jaws to pull out a tuna.
