Edgar Allan Poe "The Raven" Poem Animation Movie Here is a virtual movie Edgar Allan Poe reading his great poem "The Raven" This recording taken from a public domain audio website is qiute possibly my alltime favourite reading of this most dark lunatic frenzied poem. Heres an excerpt of what the excellent Wikipedia says about this most famous of poems.. "The Raven" is a narrative poem by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in January 1845. It is noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a talking raven's mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the latter's slow descent into madness. The lover, often identified as being a student,[1][2] is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. The raven, sitting on a bust of Pallas, seems to further instigate his distress with its constant repetition of the word, "Nevermore." Throughout the poem, Poe makes allusions to folklore and various classical works. Poe claimed to have written the poem very logically and methodically. His intention was to create a poem that would appeal to both critical and popular tastes, as he explains in the follow-up essay: "The Philosophy of Composition". The poem was inspired in part by a talking raven in the novel Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of 'Eighty by Charles Dickens.[3] Poe borrows the complex rhythm and meter of Elizabeth Barrett's poem "Lady Geraldine's Courtship". The first publication of "The Raven" on January 29, 1845, in the New York Evening Mirror made Poe widely popular in his lifetime. The poem was soon reprinted, parodied, and illustrated. Though some critics disagree about the value of the poem, it remains one of the most famous poems ever written" Kind Regards Jim Clark All rights are reserved on this video recording copyright Jim Clark 2008 Tags: poe raven poem animation annie christina rossetti beddoes we henley gothic poetry american |

Edgar Allan Poe & Vincent Price: The Tell-Tale Heart (I) I'm too far away to go and place flowers and liquor in Edgar Allan Poe's tomb, in Baltimore, US. But every january the 19th I remember Poe in some way or another. This time, I've chosen to add Vincent Price impersonation of famous tale The Tell-tale Heart (first act of his An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe movie). When I was living in Spain, I did the same tale -in spanish- for a live audience on several occasions (Arnod Medvegia was my nickname on those performings). I love this tale. I love Vincet Price. And finally I love Edgar Allan Poe. This is my homage to both amazingly talented geniuses, combined here again to give life to such a masterpiece. Happy birthday Edgar!! I'm especially happy because the featured video has some of my friends in it. They did a wonderful job on the poem, so feel free to check out their channels and subscribe to them. Enjoy the day, Love Anna. The Poem "The Raven" is perhaps one of the most well known poems in american literature. This is how some of your favorite youtubers present it. Trois Histoires Extraordinaires d'Edgar Poe (1st,1/4) Subtitled. Triptych by 3 Directors: Roger Vadim; Louis Malle, Federico Fellini (1968) Aka: Spirits of the Dead; Tales of Mystery; Tales of Mystery and Imagination; Trois histoires extraordinaires d'Edgar Poe Script: Edgar Allan Poe, Roger Vadim, Pascal Cousin, Louis Malle, Clement Biddle Wood, Daniel Boulanger, Federico Fellini, Bernardino Zapponi Photo: Tonino Delli Colli, Claude Renoir, Giuseppe Rotunno Music: Diego Masson, Jean Prodromidès, Nino Rota, Heinz Roemheld Cast: Brigitte Bardot = Giuseppina in segment "William Wilson"; Alain Delon = William Wilson the dark side of, and William Wilson the light of, in the 2nd segment called "William Wilson")), Jane Fonda = Contessa Frederica in the 1st segment called "Metzengerstein"; Peter Fonda = Baron Wilhelm in segment "Metzengerstein"; Terence Stamp = Toby Dammit in the 3rd segment called "Toby Dammit"; a.o, Edgar Allan Poe's writings have proven notoriously difficult to adapt for the screen, though not for lack of trying. Part of the problem is that most of his notable works are short stories that cannot fill an entire feature's running time. Here three of the greatest European directors try their hands at a Poe anthology. In Metzengerstein by Roger Vadim, the baroness Metzengerstein (Jane Fonda) is notoriously sensual and cruel. She has everyone under her thumb, until she meets her cousin, Wilhelm (Peter Fonda). Shortly thereafter, he is killed in a stable fire, trying to rescue a favorite horse. A tapestry in the baroness' home has a black horse mysteriously burned out of it, and then a black stallion makes its appearance, to her utter fascination. Is it a reincarnation of Wilhelm, or something more sinister? Louis Malle's William Wilson takes the subject of the double. In a framing device set in a confessional, Wilson (Alain Delon) recounts his life of sin and villainy, punctuated by periodic appearances of his exact double, also named William Wilson. In an extended segment, Wilson plays cards with Giuseppina (Brigitte Bardot), a wealthy cigar-smoking woman in a hideous black wig. But the double is not far away.... The least literal transcription is, unsurprisingly, that by Fellini. In Toby Dammit (adapted from Never Bet the Devil Your Head), the title character (Terence Stamp) is a dissolute Shakespearean actor brought to Rome by the promise of a new Ferrari to make a Catholic western. Dammit goes from one bizarre experience to another, ending in a lengthy and wild ride through the Roman environs. But Dammit cannot escape the devil, who appears to him in the form of a little girl with a white ball (Marina Yaru). Self-consciously arty, the three tales tend to be fairly heavy going. Vadim plays lengthy dialogue sequences with music only; Malle gets bogged down in the confessional scenes and the card game and doesn't develop the relationship between the doubles in a satisfying manner, and of course Fellini's production is his usual freak show. The picture definitely has its moments, however. William Wilson's debauched attempt to dissect a live woman, as well as his vicious caning of Giuseppina are notable, and the image of the devil in Toby Dammit is utterly chilling in its portrayal of the ultimate wickedness in the guise of innocence. POE'nd: A Tribute to Jun Yoshida Jun Yoshida's a dramatic actor and stage veteran who made his mark on tokusatsu with the two unique villains he played. Here, I honor his fearless performance as Priest Poe in the 1984 metal hero series Space Sheriff Shaider. Fuuma had many eerie and interesting villains, but Yoshida's performance made Poe stand out from the others. Fun fact: Yoshida actually auditioned for the role of Shaider! To be continued...
