FUZZBOX "Rules and Regulations" My first ever video made for about 50p in 1984/5 for the fantastic Fuzzbox/Vindaloo Records. Shot on a Beaulieu 4008 with a dodgy motor: perfect for that Fuzzbox home movie look. It's a bit dark in places, but then we didn't have any lights to speak of. Lots of bad jokes, including a Fonzy doll getting a BJ from Barbie. In its time it was revolutionary. It was pretty much the first ever DIY music video. Prior to that, Indie bands just had their photos on the Chart Show. This video was shown something like 7 weeks running on the Chart Show, and then was Indie Video of the year on the Xmas special. Still one of my favourites, and I've made about 80 promos since. We ought to be taking the lead on this issue, strengthening our ecological regulations. Our economy is important, but the ecosystems that sustain our existence on this planet are more important. Economies cannot grow indefinitely. We live on a single planet with finite resources. WE ARE IN NO POSITION TO BE LOOSENING ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION TO BENEFIT PRIVATE CORPORATE INTERESTS. And it is not important to protect wildlife (only) because we have some kind of emotional attachment to various species, or because we find some animals aesthetically pleasing, or because they will suffer as a result of our expansion, resource depletion, and pollution; it is important because a loss of biodiversity has a direct effect on the quality of our human lives. We depend on certain ecological relationships to grow and pollenate our crops, to catch our fish, to produce the air that we breathe, etc (nature does all of this for free, mind you). At the current rate of extinction (approx. 20,000 species a year, most of which have not even been scientifically cataloged yet), our planet could face a drastic collapse of its life carrying capacity within decades, and we humans could very well be among the species affected. We are slowly pulling out the columns acting as foundations for a rather large building, and while on the surface everything may look fine, below ground the whole structure is nearing the verge of sudden and dramatic collapse. PLEASE RECONSIDER THESE CHANGES TO THE LEGAL LANGUAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT. OUR PLANET DEPENDS ON IT. Tags: bush extinction environment species act protection |

Phone Card Regulations Proposed (Sacramento) -- Thousands of pre-paid phone cards are bought every year but there are no regulations to insure the consumer gets what they paid for. California State Assemblymember Hector de la Torre (D-South Gate) is pushing legislation through the state capitol to make sure consumers don't get ripped off by unscrupulous phone card sellers. Strong Man Competition rules & regulations Princeton Fitness Turner Frazier, one of the judges for the Strong Man Contest on Apr 26, 2008 explains the rules of the contest while PF owner Jennifer demonstrates. This contest occurs quarterly, with the winners posted on the wall, like at The Pit. You must live or work in Gibson County, Indiana to participate. These rules are important, as the bench press pauses (one at the chest until the judge says go & one at the top until the judge says rack) caused 3 no good lifts at the last contest on Jan 8, 2008. Ryan, Tyler & Austin all failed to wait for the judge to ok the lift & lost their lift as a result. For the squat, your butt needs to get as low as your knees before the judge will allow you to lift. Matt was surprised at how low he was expected to go & nearly fell over getting up. But he gave it a second try & impressed everyone with his lift. Princeton Fitness is an exciting 24 hr fitness center that is huge- it spans 2 buildings on the historic town square in Princeton, Indiana (Gibson County). PF is locally owned/ operated by Jennifer, a small-business owner. We have 8,500 square feet & 4 floors of space, cardio, tons of weight plates, benches, Sprint Circuit machines, 4 heavy bags hanging, & a huge room for aerobics/kick-boxing/Tae Kwon Do.
