SNES Spawn I LOVE this game! Fist of all because it is made from the team that gave us Hook and Skyblazer (Sony Imagesoft). Then the game itself has lovely graphics, beautiful animation and really great music (again, trademark by this developer team). Spawn himself was an amazingly fun character to play with, because he had tons of special moves, all done by Street Fighter like inputs. This was never released in my country, tough, so I was only able to play it much later. At the time, there wasnt even a FAQ for it at GameFaqs, so I decided to make my own. Its still there after all these years. I went there and read what I wrote so I could show off as many of the special moves as I could on this vid. Brilliant, yet sadly forgotten game. I believe Capcom holds the current rights to spawn now, but since its from Sony, guess we will (sadly) never see Hook/Skyblazer/Spawn on the Wii VC. SNES ActRaiser - Fillmore My Xmas vid! Why not celebrate the birth of GOD's child then to play as GOD himself! That's right, altough heavy retranslated and toned down, there are still too many hints on this unique (and personal favorite) Super Nintendo game to fool anyone. Enix gave the SNES the definitive GOD vs THE DEVIL game, that brings so many fond memories to anyone who was fortunate to play it back in 1990 (Let hope Nintendo and Square-Enix put this quickly on Wii VC, eh?). This small vid demonstrates the distinct 2 types of gameplay on Actraiser, both to the music of Yuzo Koshiro (of Streets of Rage fame). Ill be rediscovering this gem well into Christmas day, so to all, Merry Christmas from Shiryu! v ^_^ PS: If you're a true ActRaiser fan, make sure you get the AGTP (Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation) translations patch for the original Japanese version of the game. It's simply perfect, with no name changing ("Lord" is "God", "Tanzra" is "Satan", etc...) and much harder then the original US/Euro release. Update: Confirmed on the Wii Virtual Console, the first ever Enix title on the system! Update: The wait is over, now available on Wii VC PAL on this day, April 13th 2007. Update: Finnally across the Atlantic, out now on American Wii VC on this day, May 28th 2007. Tags: SNES Super Nintendo ActRaiser Enix Quintent GOD SATAN Yuzo Koshiro Wii virtual Console Shiryu |

This is an emulator-played speedrun which takes advantage of rerecording and savestates. Killer Instinct was Nintendos answer to the Mortal Kombat series. SNES Smash TV As to near to arcade perfect conversion for the Super Nintendo you could get of Williams spiritual sequel of Robotron: Smash TV. Not only incredibly fun in two players, it is really almost mandatory, because it's so hard alone. SNES joypads buton layout made this the perfect conversion. This is level 1, and prepare for a long battle with the hardest level 1 boss ever made: Mutoid Man! Tags: SNES Super Nintendo Smash TV Williams Mutoid Man Shiryu |

SNES Doom Impossible... or so they said, at the time, but smart use of the in-cartridge SFX2 21hz coprocessor chip made famous for Starwing/Starfox (using the previous version of the SFX Chip @11hz version) managed to see Doom ported on the humble Super Nintendo. For this amazing feat, floor and ceiling textures were gone, the view size was a bit reduced from full screen, but everything else, was in there. An amazing accomplishment even by todays, and it still managed to be a better port then the Sega 32x port. Heres me having some nostalgic shotgun fun. Tags: SNES Super Nintendo Doom FX2 FX Shiryu |

SNES Final Fantasy VI - Intro Now heres my idea of a really good RPG. Notice it does not need CG, FMV CD audio or such things wich seem to be standard nowadays. Final Fantasy VI (3 in the USA) was the final chapter on the Super Nintendo, and has yet to be beat up to now inthe RPG genre, on any system. Was it the grpahics? Was it the amazing and memorable OST? Maybe the plot? Not many game shave the end of the world halfway into the game, even Final Fantasy VII had the near apocalypse in the end, but on this one, the world really ends. And as far as I remember, the only RPG that had your characters sing in a opera. It was sad that this never came out in Europe (until much later, on PSX) and im happy to see it being release after all these years on GameBoy Advance, truly the perfect game for a perfect portable system. And remember: "Gotta wait for Shadow!" Note: This is the Japanese version of the game, translated by RPGOne, it is much more faithfull then th oficial US translation, making this for me, the definitive version of the game. SNES R-Type 3 Irem blessed not once but twice the Super Nintendo with it's impressive shooter series. And even if I have both R-Type Delta on PS1 and R-Type Final on PS2, It's this one right here, R-Type that is my all time favorite of the series. Every level is perfectly executed, the 3 new forces add some variety, typical huge bosses... this is, for me, THE R-Type. Pick up the GBA poor conversion at your own risk. This is me with Force Type 3 in part of Level 1, until I died. PS: Out now in The Wii VC in the USA, soon in Europe. Tags: SNES Super Nintendo R-Type The Third Lightning Three Irem Wii Shiryu |

SNES Super R-Type When the SNES came out, one of the launch titles that immediately got my attention was R-Type. But not just R-Type, it was a Super R-Type! A remake/remix of the original arcade version, with loads of extras, exclusive to the Super Nintendo. Even if I had played the Arcade and amiga versions, when I got this one, it stayed in the SNES cartridge slot for a long, long time. This is me having some nostalgic fun on levels 1 and 2. SNES Super Mario Kart on the Force Dynamics 301 SNES Mario Kart running on the 301 motion platform. If we can do this, imagine what else we can do... To see more about our motion systems, check out our web site at www.force-dynamics.com! ---------------- A quick FAQ ---------------- 1. Yes, my driving is lousy. I'm used to hardcore racing sims and it's been 15+ years since I spent any time with MK. I had about an hour with the machine actually running Mario Kart, since we built it for another project, and the video you see was the first take. Also, I had some specific goals (the jump, the bumps, the mole) that made driving well secondary. 2. The reaction speed is quite good - about 10ms from game event to machine motion. Watch during the jumps. 3. I tried it with a 'normal' 301 using the steering wheel. It's next to impossible, because the control inputs are on/off, not analog, so you have to whip the wheel back and forth like a madman. We'd have to write code to pulse-width-modulate the output from the wheel. Plus, it's Mario Kart. You -have- to play it with a gamepad. 4. Yes, FZero would be very cool. Maybe it's time to write that pulse width modulation output... Tags: force dynamics motion platform simulator snes mario kart mariokart driving simulation racing |

SNES Cybernator (Assault Suits Valken) The sequel (of sorts) to Target Earth, is still, up to today , one of my favorite all time games on any system. Cybernator in the US/euroe was released by Konami after they hacked the game up good, removing character portraits and even a suicide cutscene (a first in videogames, as far as I recall). It was later remade on PS2 but It was a bit of a let down in the music department. So, what have we here? a Gundam style storyline wich is the perfect settig for a 2D mech platform-shooting game. Huge improvement over Target Earth and an amazing job by NCS/Masaya, considering it was 1992. Enjoy the Vid. Note: Special thanks to AGTP (Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation) for the english patch of the japanese version, making this version, quite simply, the most perfect version of the game. That's why you will see animated character portaits on this one. Tip: Yes, I ran all of the first level just killing the boss. This is a secret that gives that nice Napalm Gun you see me using on level 2. Tags: SNES Super Nintendo Cybernator Assaullt Suits Valken AGTP NCS Masaya Konami Gundam Shiryu |

SNES Gradius III - Level 1 Konami outdone themselves. Jumping from Gradius II from the NES (one of the best games ever made on the system, btw) to this SNES outing was pure bliss. True, the game has slowdowns (much like some early SNES titles), wich in fact, help with the gameplay on crowded levels. Very nice "powerup edit" mode as well, this was the best Gradius for me, until they made Gradius Advance for the GBA and Gradius V on PS2 (can't decide from those two wich one is the best). I also recommend the anime, if you haven't seen it already. I was a bit sad this was the only Gradius to hit the SNES, but there were another great Konami series "Gradius spinoff" that hit the system soon after... Update: Out now on Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. Europena Update: Will be released on September 28th 2007 on European Wii VC as part of the Hanabi Festival Sci-fi Wekk. SNES Terranigma The third and final chapter of Quintet's Gaia trilogy for the SNES (unless you want to count PSX Grand Stream Saga as the 4th chapter, that is). Sadly, Enix no longer had an open US branch by the time of this release, thus the game was never ginve an US NTSC release (don't fell bad, we in Europe never got Final Fantasy III, Mario RPG or Chrono Trigger...something that still bugs me even today.), having however made into Europe (in English, German, French and Spanish, no less) and Australia, published by Nintendo themselves. Again, this takes place on Earth. In fact, its its the tale of the ressurection of the world has we know it (a recurring theme in many Quintet's games). We play as Ark, a boy that seeks adventure and will is bounf to get some, the more and more the game takes you in. I really don't want to give much away, because if youre reading this and you've never played it, let me just assure the story has a lot of interesting and unexpected twists. Playing as Ark is also very fun and he is one of the most responsive and versatile characters on any SNES Action Adventure (he always reminds me of Thor from "Story of Thor" on the Megadrive, for some reason). Hopefully, this will see a future Wii VC release, since so many people in the US missed it the first time. I have seen this cart on eBay reaching small fortunes, wich comes as no surprise, really.
