Get the book here: http://www.informit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321501713 If you're a Windows administrator, scripting expertise can liberate you from boring, repetitive work--so you can take on the sophisticated, high-value projects you really want. Top scripting guru Don Jones has written the definitive administrator's guide to getting results with Microsoft's key scripting technologies: VBScript, WMI, and ADSI. Jones draws on his unsurpassed experience training Windows administrators in conferences, classes, and from his enormously popular site, ScriptingAnswers.com. You'll learn how to use VBScript, WMI, and ADSI to gain administrative control over nearly every aspect of every recent Windows server or client, including Windows Server 2003, Vista, XP, 2000, and NT. As you gain experience, Jones introduces more advanced techniques, ranging from modular scripting and script encryption to integrating VBScript with HTML code. Jones concludes with a full section of ready-to-run, real-world examples--from logon/logoff scripts to automated domain and network administration, from querying WMI to creating Active Directory groups. Every script is explained line-by-line, with challenging techniques described in even greater detail. Detailed information on how to... FScript - a scripting solution for Mac OS X / Cocoa Google Tech Talks June 18, 2007 ABSTRACT The project lead of FScript: Philippe Mougin, is in town for Apple's WWDC 2007 in June at San Francisco and is interested in giving this talk on FScript - a smalltalk-inspired dynamically typed language for rapid development of Mac OS X and Cocoa applications and automation solutions. FScript is much more than just a scripting language, like smalltalk it provides a set of high level exploration, browsing and development tools which let you explore Objective C libraries as easily as FScript ones. The talk should be of interest to the Mac group and also more generally to people interested in dynamic languages, OOP, and new programming models, as... Ubuntu Bash shell scripting part2 Bash is the default shell on most GNU/Linux systems as well as on Mac OS X and it can be run on most Unix-like operating systems. It has also been ported to Microsoft Windows within the Cygwin POSIX emulation environment for Windows, to MS-DOS by the DJGPP project and to Novell NetWare. Released under the GNU General Public License, Bash is free software. Independent versions of Bash were created also for AmigaOS. Zelda Classic: Scripting Power! ==1== A (hopefully) series of videos that will demonstrate some of the cool things you can do with ZScript, Zelda Classic's internal scripting engine. Visit http://www.zeldaclassic.com to get the program In this first video, we see a demonstration of some new additions to the scripting engine: the weapon projectile scripting operations and the ability to draw combos on-screen directly. This sets up an interesting scene here, normally impossible on the rigid Zelda 1 limitations the main engine was built upon. Also note that while the arrow at first glance seems to be identical to the built-in behavior, it was spawned via scripting. NOTE: This is a proof-of-concept done on the latest unreleased build of Zelda Classic using scripting. Scrolling is NOT a planned feature for the 2.5 release, but is in the future. The script doesn't contain anything fancy like collision or such, it's just a plain scrolling background that keeps Link and his projectiles' positions consistent. /` 100% Easy /` Shell Scripting in Perl (and PHP!) Yes in this tutorial I demonstrate scripting in Perl and later on demonstrate web scripting language PHP for making regular shell scripts.. This tutorial will let you fiddle around with your scripting ideas, without having to get to "geeky".. Some of us uber-geeks started with basic on a commodore 64, or started programming in Logo (which is a language that was designed entirely to teach people how to program). Well I feel sorry for those who took Pascal too serriously, and as a result made a teaching language a full fledged programming language.. Yes Delphi started life as a learning language, it was never meant to be a real programming language.. A god awful programming language.. Please if you intend to become a uber-geek, use C, you know literally can learn all the other languages because Perl and PHP and Python are described as being "C-like".. However LISP is a whole other planet. I can't put the scripts here in this description, if I even put a "less-than" symbol youtube's form filter will croak. Note, some people still make web scripts in C, and assembly if they want bragging rights, weird people.. Now those are the real uber-geeks.. I started programming web scripts in C, but moved to Perl, and now all I use is PHP.. So if you are intent on making web programs, using PHP as a scripting language can't hurt.. Level Design Scripting UT2004 Unreal Editor - Bones - Part1 http://nickworkdemo.webs.com/ I made this UT map during the second year of Games Design BSc at The University of Bolton. It was designed, developed and tested in a team of two. The story is a futurist mining corporation has stumbled across an ancient burial site deep within the earth. Upon discovering the bones they awaken the Army of Skeletons, which subsequently begin their assault on the miners. The idea behind the game's structure is that the player awakes after the skeletons have wrecked the mining base. The player then walks through the level while the character has continual flashbacks to the events that led up to the skeleton invasion. The end of the game (twist) sees the skeletons in the present with the player, before he leaves in the spacecraft. The story was devised as small tribute to the 1960s film 'Jason and the Argonauts' which featured stop-motion battling skeletons.
