(June 29)This video provided by Six Flags shows the Batman roller coaster in Georgia, where a teenager lost his life. Authorities are looking into reports the teen jumped two six-foot fences to get a hat he lost while riding the coaster. The teen was struck and killed while it was in operation, going full speed. The 17-year-old was decapitated. Authorities say the teen was in a restricted, off-limits area. The ride was shut down after the accident, but is expected to reopen on Monday. The teen and his parents were at the park with a Church group from South Carolina. In May 2002, a 58-year-old groundskeeper was killed after he hit in the head by the leg of one of the ride's passengers. ___ ___, The Associated Press. The GCII-designed Millennium Flyer coaster trains will zip through five belly-flopping hills and six high speed banked turns over 2,850 feet of track to create a ride that delivers the acrobatic thrills of a modern roller coaster while retaining the nostalgic look and feel of a classic "woodie." Nitro at Six Flags PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING!!!!!!! To answer some of the more common questions: 1. I am not in the video, nor am I recording it! 2. This is Nitro, the only Six Flags that has a roller coaster named Nitro is at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. 3. He is not wearing shoes because he was wearing sandals and if he didn't leave them in the little cubby they provide, they would have fallen off. 4. Yes the front row sucks. Back row is where it's at. By the time the coaster reaches full speed, the front row is halfway down the hill, the last row is just coming over the top. 5. They are cursing because they are trying to convey emotion to the camera. Some might call it embellishing, others call it hilarity. Teen killed by Batman roller coaster, Six Flags The father of a South Carolina teenager decapitated by a roller coaster at a Georgia amusement park said Sunday that family members may never know why he hopped two fences to enter a restricted area. Police said Asia LeeShawn Ferguson IV, 17, of Columbia, S.C., died when he was hit by the Batman roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday. The ride was to remain closed through Monday out of respect for his family. "Police investigators tried to tell us what they thought happened, but nobody knows but my son and the Lord," Ferguson's father, Asia Ferguson III, told The Associated Press in a phone interview. "We don't know because we weren't with him at the time." The elder Ferguson said he and other family members were at the park with a group of nearly 70 people from Oakey Spring Baptist Church near Springfield, S.C. They were taking a break to picnic outside the park, and his son returned ahead of the group. "When we finished our picnic, we were going back in," he said. "Before we could get there, someone called and said he had an accident." Sgt. Dana Pierce said the younger Ferguson and another male apparently climbed two six-foot fences surrounding the roller coaster. Six Flags said in a statement that the areas were clearly marked with signs stating "Restricted area-Authorized Personnel Only," and "Danger Zone-Do Not Enter."
